3 or 5 gallon for auto flowers

I’m going to grow auto flowers outside, I was planning on using fabric pots with pro mix and California super soil, with 10 week from seed to harvest, does it really make a difference if I put it in 3 or 5 gallon pots?

Depends on what autos you are growing. Ive run both and found that 5 is a waste for most autos. If you have one that will run longer veg time then sure, but most wont use the space so its a waste of soil and extra nutes. If you have everything dialed in perfect it may be worth it, but most of us dont have it perfect. I agree with others, pull your 3 gallon and inspect the roots after harvest. If they are too compacted maybe try 5. I gave up on autos. So much easier to grow monster photos. Best auto I've grown was 5oz and most were 1.5-3 oz range. I average 5-6 oz every plant with photos for 1 week more veg than with the autos I've run. Autos i would run in 3 gallons, but my photos i run in 5 gallon. Best of Luck! Happy Growing!

Also since you are growing outside and using air pots, i would say 3 gallon. If you clear the ground under the pot and break it up a bit, the roots can grow right through the bottom of the fabric pot into the ground. You'll have all the space you need. One thing to keep in mind with fabric pots outside is they dry up supper fast. May require a lot of watering. I ran some tomatoes outside last summer in 3 gallon fabric pots and was having to water 2 times a day. Putting mulch on top will slow it a bit. I use fresh pine chips that I got for my chickens bedding. Cheap and does the job. Again just my thoughts, Best of Luck! Happy Growing!

5 is probably to much but if you have a monster plant it's nice to have the leg room to house that

Autoflowering varieties have a short life cycle. 3 gal. Is enough for a 10 weeks growth.

3 is plenty. 'they' say 1month = 1gallon, or 1 vertical foot = 1 gallon at the end of the grow when you pull it out of the put, inspect the rootzone. is it well-colonized but not strangling itself? Then, it is fine. I also don't want to see large volumes mostly unused... that's a waste.
