Hi. My question is: I’m currently on day 31 of flowering, and the plants are barely taking up nutrients. Every day I have to top up 5 liters of water, but the EC rises from 1350 to 1430 within a day. How is that possible? Thanks

you eat, consume energy, grow do your activity then go shit. plant do the same

I see reading comprehension hasn't improved any since I was a regular on here. The guy is asking about rising ECs in their reservoir between top offs and people are giving him advice on run off and wet/dry cycles lol. Just remember that the plants are only pulling what they require and leaving other things behind. If you're topping off 5 liters a day they're drinking plenty hard. No way you're experiencing THAT much evaporation unless you're growing out of a swamp cooler or something. As long as you bring your rez back into target range and refresh your rez every couple weeks with new solution you should be golden.

EC is relative to the moisture level, as the moisture evaporates/dries from the soil, the same amount of salts exists in less total water, which increases the concentration of salts in the remaining soil solution. When soil moisture decreases, the salts in the soil become more concentrated, and evaporation can pull salts to the surface, spiking EC dramatically. A tool for monitoring wet-dry cycles. It acts as an indirect, real-time indicator of both moisture content and salinity. EC is not definable by one metric alone, it is the combination of both water % and salt ions. Alternatively, if the plant is not uptaking and there are organic nutrients, the microorganisms will also continually break down and contribute to the EC, This can lead to a situation where the EC becomes too high, potentially causing nutrient burn or inhibiting water uptake, even if the initial nutrient concentration was lower.

soilless? get 10% runoff from each fertigation... should mitigate buildup. EC isn't really accurate for assessing concnetration. It's "okay". It's useful for other things, too. But, there are multiple conversion factors that will give a 40% range in concentration estimates based on EC. A 40% variance is hardly a strong correlation. So, i'd worry more about what you see in the leaves or if you have familiarity with your EC readings, if they deviate from what you expect -- baselines formed while growing healthy plants without issues... if religiously getting 10% runoff or more, it shouldn't be an issue in a soilless context. without runoff, even if the plant absorbed 90% of the nutrient content, you just added a bunch more with the fertigation. Each cycle adding more. Over time that can add up to something relevant. if this is soil.. give an extra plain-water irrigation between fertilizations... or similar to dilute.. a little runoff can have the same effect, too. But again, if this is solely based on an EC rating as opposed to you knowing what to expect and it deviating, i'd wait to see issues in the plant. If the irrigation practices are deviating from norms, i'd correct those, first, before doing anything drastic 1) fully saturate - never choose the volume in a top-down mannner (whimsy). If it's soilless, religioulsy get 10% runoff or more 2) wait for appropriate dryback and repeat... simple.. Irrigation should be a reaction to observable things. this is no place for inductive reasoning. If fully saturating ever causes a problem, it is the fault of the medium and nothing else - Poorly constituted. Add more drainage amendment in future

I don't experience rising ECs until closer to the end of my cycles typically but I would treat it the same regardless. Aim for your target ECs, if that means diluted solution so be it. By the time I'm entering early the flower I'm usually running more in the 1.8-2.0 range so I wouldn't stress 1.4 by any stretch.

Peace MindFlowers68! That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially since you've already tried the standard troubleshooting like resetting and clearing history. It sounds like the app or browser session is timing out as soon as your phone goes into "sleep" mode to save power, which kills the upload process. Try this: Go into your phone settings and temporarily set your "Auto-Lock" or screen timeout to "Never" while you're doing your uploads. This keeps the connection active until the job is done. Also, if you're using the browser, try switching from mobile data to Wi-Fi (or vice versa), as a small dip in connection can cause those errors. Give the screen timeout trick a shot first—it's usually the culprit for large photo batches! Happy Growing, Growmie!
