Yes, if the damage isn't too severe, it will heal. If the leaves perk back up, you know the vascular tissue is at least partially working... probably have to remove that tape in 1-3 days, again depending on severity, but it heals fast. Just be certain it's strong enough. Don't want that tape restricting growth down the road.

Hello. For next time... I don't like to put the tape right on the stem. I've had it peel some of the bark away when I took it off. I like to wrap some tissue or paper towel paper around it first then the tape around that. The tissue will act as a Band-Aid and soak up any sap from the break and will just pull off when you take the tape off and not hurt the plant further. Good Luck. Chuck.
