First time growing

Tie her down to the side of your pot, you will double your yield at least! It won't slow down her growth at all, topping could take her up to two weeks to recover. Normally a couple of days though so it's up to you in the long run 😁 How long are you thinking about keeping her in veg!?

I would read up on topping, LST and scrog. If you are growing, you might as well get as large a yield as you possibly can. Using topping and LST and a scrog method, you can gain huge rewards for your efforts. You can see what I mean in my diaries. Last harvest was near 5.5 ounces PER plant for two plants in a 3x3 tent.
