With coco coir problems will happen and progress faster than soil. Also the corrections will happen faster... if properly diagnosed. If you haven't studied plant problems and their signs and symptoms and gained a good base of understanding of gardening and plant biology yet, you may want to stick with soil during the self education process. Its more forgiving to you if you are learning in a trial by fire, on the fly.
