Interview with Guru Grower homerjgangia

Hola everyone! Here’s yet another interview with one of our Gurus in the community — @homergangia who has perfected the art of growing cannabis. He has diaries full of beautiful plants that look delectable! Check out the interview, and don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any. 

1. Question: Hello homerjgangia! We are very excited to conduct this interview today. Your profile tells us a lot about your skills. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What does your name stand for?

Answer: Hello, I’m also very excited to do this interview, which was a surprise for me. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to express my thoughts here. I love cannabis and talking about it gives me immense pleasure. 

Coming to my profile, thanks again. I prefer quality over quantity, so although I have just a few diaries, I make sure I grow my plants to the best of my abilities. 

And, coming to my name, Homer stands for Homer Simpson! My friends have this nickname for me, and it just stuck with me, haha!

Also, I am from Italy, and I’m someone who loves sports and athletic activities. I love playing Rugby as it keeps me in top condition. 

2. Question: Why did you start cultivating cannabis?

Answer: Well, I love smoking cannabis. I have been using it for a long time and enjoy the positive effects it has to offer. As I said, I am from Italy, but I felt the prices were too high whenever I want to buy some high-quality stuff. 

So, I had two options — either give money to the criminality and use low-quality stuff or grow my own. Since I’m a quick learner, I realized that I could grow my own plants if I wanted to, and that’s how it all began. 

I’m very happy I did so because it’s best to grow your own cannabis no matter which country you are from. First, you get to choose any strain and use it for various purposes. You can use good nutrients, give the plant what it needs, and grow the best cannabis you’ve ever smoked. 

3. Question: How has cannabis helped you?

Answer: Well, cannabis has helped me in immeasurable ways. Right from making me more creative at my job to having fun with friends, the herb has always been there for me. In short, I use cannabis for everything including relaxing and making love, hahaha! 

I sincerely believe that it enhances my mood and makes me a better person. I find that I develop ideas faster and become super creative, thanks to cannabis.  

To be honest, cannabis is a magical plant that has been victimized for no reason. I am happy that things are slowly changing and it deserves all the attention. Finally, people are understanding everything this miracle has to offer, and I hope it’s decriminalized and legalized all around the world. 

4. Question: Do you remember how and why you started using Growdiaries?

Answer: Although I’ve been using cannabis for a while, I started growing only at the beginning of COVID as I understood that I could use my time efficiently. And, as I mentioned already, the rates are too high to buy here, so growing my own made more sense. 

And, as I began researching to grow cannabis, I came across Growdairies. It was my first plant and I was excited to learn more. The possibilities of what I could do excited me a lot. Once I began using GrowDiaries, I understood that I had to learn more and keep doing what I did best. 

5. Question: What do you love about Growdiaries?

Answer: I love that Growdiaries has everything you need to grow your little girls. From nutrients to lights, seeds, and even suggestions from amazing growers, you simply have it all. 

All you need to do is watch others and learn more. Eventually, you’ll also be able to grow stunning plants, even if you don’t have a lot of experience. 

Look at me — it’s not like I have decades of experience, but I learned a lot and put it to use, and got the results I was looking for. Last but not least, I have made amazing friends here, and that cannot be replaced by anything!

6. Question: Do you train your cannabis plants? If yes, can you describe one easy technique for beginners?

Answer: Yes, of course, I train my plants. It’s a must if you want to control how the plant grows. If you don’t train the plants, you’ll run out of vertical height which can even kill the plants if you don’t take the necessary steps on time. 

Primarily, I use Low-Stress training. It is very simple and perfect even for beginners. Traditional low-stress training involves using strings, pipe cleaners, or similar materials to tie down stems so they grow horizontally.

To start, create several small holes around the rim of your plant’s container. Bend the plant’s stems and secure them to the container using your chosen method. Some growers tie the stem itself so it coils as it grows, but using twine or string works just as well.

You can continue training the plants throughout the vegetative stage and a little bit during the flowering stage. The plants stretch during the flowering stage, so you should be prepared or they will grow too close to the lights and have a light burn. 

You don’t want a light burn as it reduces the yields. Therefore, I think it’s very important to train the plants with whatever tool you choose as long as the stems remain low. The goal is to maintain a nice uniform canopy, so we should do the best we can. 

7. Question: Are you a DIY person or do you purchase most equipment, including nutrients?

Answer: I like DIY stuff but I haven’t tried doing anything with cannabis. Moreover, I am going to let you in on a secret — I started with nothing when I began growing the herb, but now I get sponsored for all kinds of equipment including lights, seeds, nutrients, and even grow tents. I don’t have to construct anything on my own. In addition, I get to experiment with new brands and learn more as I continue with my journey.

8. Question: Can you describe a few things you do (DIY) that perhaps saves money?

Answer: As I mentioned already, my little secret is to grow amazing cannabis and document it in the diaries. To be honest, you have to love what you do. If you don’t like growing plants or are doing it for the sole purpose of making money, you may not succeed. 

However, if you’re passionate about growing and taking care of your plants with love, it will show in the diaries and even sponsors will contact you. 

9. Question: Can you name a few growers who have inspired you here? What do you like the most about their growing style?

Answer: Many growers are very helpful and don’t hesitate to share information when someone asks them. They go out of their way, and that’s what I love about this site. 

However, I am very inspired by one grower @Ferenc who is simply outstanding. Not only is he an excellent grower, but he will also explain anything if you ask him. I believe that it’s because of growers like these that the site has grown so much and will continue to do so in the future. 

10. Question: Is there any strain you grow in particular? Would you recommend it to beginners?

Answer: Well, I grow many strains but if you take a look at my profile, I have way too many strains from Sweet Seeds. I love Killer Kush, Red Banana Strawberry, and many more from them. 

I’m sure beginners will love them as they grow quite easily and don’t require too much maintenance. Of course, you’ll have to train and feed them regularly if you want good yields but they are great strains and adjust pretty well. 

11. Question: What are your favorite strains, and why?

Answer: I have grown many strains and love many of them for their characteristics, but I simply adore Green Poison, which is my favorite one so far! The aroma and effects are fantastic, to say the least. I have grown both the autoflowering and the fast-flowering versions and both of them are awesome. 

12. Question: Who are your favorite breeders?

Answer: As I said already, I love Sweet Seeds. They are one of the best breeders out there without a doubt, simply because their seeds are quick to germinate, easy to grow and you get great yields with minimal effort. They also have different varieties, including autoflowering, photoperiod, and fast versions that make it easy and choose and grow whatever you prefer. 

13. Question: What type of nutrients do you use to grow cannabis?

Answer: At the moment, I’m using Biobizz, Organics Nutrients, and Advanced Nutrients.

14. Question: What was the latest strain you grew?

Answer: The last one I grew was Amnesia Zkittlez from Fastbuds. 

15. Question: What was the latest strain you smoked?

Answer: Sweet Zenzation from Sweet Seeds and I smoked it just now!!

16. Question: Any tips for our readers to enjoy cannabis more? Perhaps, concentrates, gummies, etc?

Answer: Just grow and smoke your plants. The satisfaction is incredible...you can make concentrates or hash, but I prefer just joints. Also, follow Growdiaries, learn from others and you’ll be a master grower in no time!
