Many of today’s best cannabis varieties derive from wild landraces from some of the most exotic places in the world. Exotic Witch by Royal Queen Seeds is a great example of global genetics coming together to create outstanding cannabis. It is also an example of how far breeders are willing to venture in their quest for new and exciting strains.
In Exotic Witch, tropical cannabis genetics meet up with old-school Cali cultivars to form a remarkable indica-dominant polyhybrid.
One half of Exotic Witch’s genetics come from a landrace sativa discovered deep in the rainforest of the semi-equatorial West Indies. Cannabis field geneticists scouting the region collected the specimen and brought it to California. There, breeders crossed the strain with an old-school indica variety from NorCal with similar traits to the popular Afghani and Pakistani indicas from the 80s.
After several generations of careful breeding, selection, and stabilisation, the strain was brought to perfection. With its wild origins and rather unusual genetic makeup, they named it Exotic Witch.
GROWING EXOTIC WITCH
Creating Exotic Witch may not have happened overnight, but growing it will feel like a blur; the strain needs only 56 days of flowering to reach harvest. Not your typical indica, this low-maintenance sorceress doesn’t have any special nutrient requirements, and can be grown successfully indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses. The strain will reach a medium height, so cultivators don’t need to worry about their plants growing out of control.
Adding to the joy of growing Exotic Witch is its high resistance to mould, making it a good choice for growers living in a humid and rainy climate. Grow this magical plant indoors in optimal conditions, and you can expect to get as much as 500g/m² at the end of its 8-week bloom phase.
Outdoors, you can look forward to about the same yield but per plant. Some outdoor cultivators have even reported yields of up to 1kg/plant when grown in optimal conditions. Exotic Witch is ready to harvest outdoors in early October.
Make note that Exotic Witch is only available as a regular seed, so you will want to separate the males from the females as soon as you can sex your plants.
EFFECT, FLAVOUR, AND AROMA OF EXOTIC WITCH
Exotic Witch does have some sativa in its genetic heritage, but smoking its flowers reveals all of its indica qualities. Set a light to a well-cured bud and its 20% THC will hit you before you have a chance to put her down.
One hit may be all that you need to feel deeply relaxing waves of sheer indica power working their way across your body. As you enjoy the calming stone setting in, your mind will switch to chill mode while muscle tension and pain wane.
With its sedating effect, Exotic Witch is a perfect nighttime strain for unwinding and relaxing at the end of the day. Great for watching a movie or listening to music.
Thanks to its diverse roots, Exotic Witch brings a whole range of exciting aromas to the table, blending tropical fruit and floral notes with sour, Kush-like whiffs all topped off with hints of sandalwood. These seemingly contrasting flavours come together in astonishing harmony, quite like enjoying a fancy, exotic dish.
