🌿 Lava Cake – Week 5 (First Week Flower) | Pre-Bloom & Heat Talk 🌿 The Lava Cakes have officially stepped into their flowering tent… though, to be fair, they’re still enjoying a little extra veg time before showing pistils. Both phenos are healthy, lush, and stretching beautifully, clearly ready for the show ahead. ⸻ 📸 Photo Studio Glam We took them out for another studio shoot, bright lights, clean background, and every angle showing off their deep greens and perfect branching. Soon, their beauty will be dressed in flowers, but for now, the leaf structure alone is worthy of the spotlight. ⸻ 🌡️ Current Conditions • Room Temp: 31°C • Humidity: 50.3% • VPD: 2.23 kPa • PPFD: 766 µmol/m²/s • Soil EC: ~2.0 • Soil Temp: 25.6°C Yes, the temperature is running hot — AC unit is on the way to lock it back into our ideal zone. ⸻ 💬 Heat in the Grow Room – Risks & Benefits Potential Risks: • Faster substrate drying = more frequent irrigation needed • Higher transpiration rates can stress plants if roots can’t keep up • Slightly increased risk of light stress at high PPFD without proper cooling • Possible reduced terpene retention if sustained into late flower Possible Benefits (short term in veg/pre-flower): • Accelerated metabolism — plants grow and stretch faster • Increased water/nutrient uptake (if well-fed and watered on time) • Can improve CO₂ usage efficiency if levels are high enough Bottom line: As long as they’re hydrated, fed, and ventilated, short bursts of high temp are manageable. But for flowering, we want to keep daytime temps closer to 24–28°C for optimal quality. ⸻ 💧 Watering Strategy We water when the soil dries to about 25% moisture remaining, this encourages: • Stronger root growth searching for water • Better oxygenation of the root zone • Less risk of root rot in warm temps Right now: They’re drinking daily due to the heat, so we’re feeding daily as well. ⸻ Current Feeding (per L of water) • Aptus Regulator – 0.15 ml • Aptus CalMag Boost – 0.25 ml • Aptus All-in-One Liquid – 1 ml • Aptus Top Booster – 0.25 ml With the increased drinking rate, nutrient uptake has increased — meaning no signs of deficiency, just steady lush green. ⸻ 🚀 Looking Ahead • AC installation will stabilize temps, allowing tighter VPD control • First signs of pistils should appear within the next 7–10 days • We’ll begin adjusting feed ratios for early bloom once flowers set • Light intensity will climb further as stretch continues ⸻ 💚 Closing Note: This week is all about momentum, heat or no heat, the Lava Cakes are pushing upward, prepping themselves for a heavy flower load. The environment tweaks are on the way, and we’re building them the perfect stage for their bloom performance. 📲 Don’t forget to Subscribe and follow me on Instagram and YouTube @DogDoctorOfficial for exclusive content, real-time updates, and behind-the-scenes magic. It’s been a strange week this week, few ups and downs, happy with the leaf development and general health of the girls but i think they might be lacking a bit of height and length between the nodes so I’ve been advised to not increase my wattage just yet and to increase the distance from light. I’ve also in the last couple of days moved them to the outer side of the tent, not like I’m lacking the space lol, in hope that this will encourage them to stretch up and out in search for more light; fingers crossed its a winning combo. Still only feeding water when soils dried up. Will deffo put a couple more plants in next time.

Day 32 she’s exploded and the lady I was most excited to get going. I mean who doesn’t love a Russian 👌🏻 Can’t wait to watch her grow. She took very well to the leaf tucking and loving touches.

Hi all, It the start of week three. Am thinking of switching the switch this week but since I am doing this grow with a bunch of WW 2nd gen clones and they seem to be drinking a bit too much (need to water everyday) I knew this would happen but didn't expect it to happen before flowering. I only filled the pots with 2/3 soil initially, so I topped all the WW and the SQ with a mix of worm casting (50%), fox farm ocean breeze 25%, Perlite 15% and coco 10%. Will wait two days to see if this will slow down my need to water the plants in smaller pots. WIll update this over the course of the week. Mid week update. I only tested out adding the wormcastling is to the WWs will wait and see cause I don’t think they like it that much. Will probably flip next week.

As we move into week 5, we're keeping a close eye on plant #2, which is showing some different characteristics than plant #1, namely, nutrient deficiencies. We seem to be dealing with it okay so far, having reduced the nitrogen input and increased the calcium and magnesium. I think these girls are anxious for some phosphorous and potassium but we're being cautious and will be feeding under 400ppm, starting tomorrow. Day 29: - increased HLG Elite 360 fixture's light intensity, from 65% to 70%. - minor LST adjustments and some leaf tucking to both plants. - installed reciprocating fan at top of tent, blowing fresh intake air across the light fixture and down to the plants. Day 30: - watered with a 500ppm nutrient solution, 4ml per gallon of Remo Nutrients' Flowering line, but with General Hydroponics' "CaliMagic" replacing Remo's "MagNifiCal", due to the lower Nitrogen content. - pH'd to 6.2/6.3 - minor LST adjustments Day 31: - calcium deficiency is showing up more on plant #2. Is there PK deficiencies as well? I'll continue feeding cal-mag and flowering nutes this week but i need to do a runoff test, and/or maybe a slurry test. Day 32: - watered with a 270ppm solution of "CaliMagic" (Cal/Mag). - pH'd to 6.4 - slurry test done with 100ml of soil and 200ml of distilled water at pH7.0. Tested slurry after 5 minutes, had a pH of 6.1. Day 33: - Plant 2 still showing a severe deficiency, which i assume is still calcium & magnesium, although the stems of the leaves are very purple and despite the genetics, i think this is indicative of deficiency issues as well. - Oddly, Plant 1 is not showing the same issues. Day 34: - did some light defoliation, removing a few small, lower shoots from the lower branches and a few of the lowest fan leaves. - increased HLG "Elite 360" fixture intensity from 75% to 80% (approx. 145 watts per each QB96 board). - Temp: 78F (lights on); 62-66F (lights off) - RH: 46-55% (lights on); 60-62% (lights off)

Temps are looking to be better the next few weeks and when on a good watering schedule humidity goes above 50%. I've just been bending branches that shoot above the canopy down. I still need to update the measurements of length and distance to plant. Lollipopped on day 11 (Jul 2nd) the amount of lollipopped space down below is about 30 cm(1ft) With this light I think I'll be aiming for a half foot(15cm) to a full foot(30cm) of canopy depth. Getting the top sites as close as I can to 30 cm below the light so I have the top 15 cm of canopy at the most efficient distance for this light. Optic LED recommends a spacing of 30 to 45 cm (1 to 1.5 foot) fixture to tops for flower. anything further away than 45 cm will probably be fluff, but! Anything fluffy will be left on and used for old school bottle pressed hashish. My family, with exception of my girl will have to fight me for that hashish, it's been way, way too long since I had some good hash. Plus there's no way I'm yielding more than a gram or two of hash from larf alone. Plant height is measured from soil level btw, she's about 60+ cm pot included. Moved the light up to 45 cm above the canopy again and I'm already maxing out on vert space, with only about 5-10cm remaining. Switched the light cycle from 14 hours on to 12 hours on to be sure, she's leaning more sativa but she was initiating flower. (Which I'm amazed I could even tell she was initiating bud development) However having her re veg at week 5 would've sucked very much So far the vibes from this run I'm getting is that I'm still nowhere near great or even good. But I am, at least, slowly starting to get there. Recovered from defoliating nicely.

I think I couldve fed her more with no problems! super strong strain! 100x100 recomended and ill definetly will get a higher tent and a better light for sure!0

The DIY Screen is filling up very nicely by letting it Veg an extra week to try maximise & even the canopy out. Pruning every other day as the growth changes daily. I will be flipping it into flowering within the next few days. I cannot wait! The mother plant where this original clone came from is in its last few weeks of flowering & from what i can see, this is going to be an awesome, fun grow.

Start of week 5 for Space panda Really starting to fall in love with the bud structure of this strain😍 Pictures dont seem to do justice to how fristy she really is. While we have the 2nd pheno now in week 2 shes deserving a little defoliation to let her lowers get some light.
