It has been another amazing week of the plants growing. I have been watching as the Fruity Freak leaves become progressively more fern-like, and ornamental as a result! Based on my Banizzle grows, I knew I needed to understand plant nutrients in a more meaningful way if I wanted these plants to thrive. So, I decided to get a soil test (see Ref. 1 below on how to perform a test) to understand what nutrients my plants needed. The report I received advised that I needed to add 200 lbs/acre of nitrogen, 150 lbs/acre of phosphorus, and 190 lbs/acre of potassium (see picture labeled Pic.1 (FYI you can't see these images unless you login to growdiaries)). I then researched what to do with my results (Ref. 2 helped), and I figured out that my nutrient needs of 200-150-190 fall close to a 2-1-2 ratio. I then looked at different types of organic fertilizers (see Ref. 3 and Ref. 4) and considered that I already had a 3-10-5 fertilizer (Vermibloom) on hand. I discovered Dr Earth’s Alfalfa Meal is 2-1-2 and includes beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae (to promote healthy plant growth and disease resistance). However, I knew I would be low on nitrogen if I only used those two fertilizers. Therefore, I decided to buy some blood meal (12-0-0). I also liked that blood meal is more fast acting while the other two are more moderate. I hunted around for a solid fertilizer calculator and found an amazing tool from the University of Georgia Extension (Ref. 5). I entered all three fertilizers into the calculator, and it kicked out the exact amount of each fertilizer I needed to apply to 1 square foot (see Pic. 2). As I am using 10-gallon fabric pots (that can hold 1.5 cubic feet, but I put stone on the bottom and there’s space left at the top) I decided to use the one square foot application rate as I can always add more later, but I can’t take it away. Not only did I want to understand the nutrients I needed, but I also wanted to understand the structure of the soil (as it was not included in my test results). North Dakota State University has a nice page that discusses this (Ref. 6), and I performed a soil ribbon test (see Video 1) based on this information. I determined my soil to be medium textured (which is great), but I have seen occasional water pooling on the surface, suggesting that it may be more of a medium-fine. This means adding peat moss, coco coir, or other amendments might improve drainage (and plant hydration) and allow for roots to grow more easily. In the long run, I plan to use compost to enhance the soil structure and nutrients. I filled the bottom of my 10-gallon fabric pots with a ½” of pea stone to allow for drainage (Pic. 3). I then partially filled two 5-gallon buckets with topsoil from near where I will plant (but not in an area the roots will reach). I used a digital scale to measure the amount of fertilizers recommended by the calculator (Pic. 4, 5, and 6) and added it to one of the 5-gallon buckets (see Pic. 7). I mixed the fertilizers into the soil as evenly as possible (Pic. 8 and 9). I then poured a two-inch layer of non-fertilized soil, then peat moss, and then fertilized soil (in a roughly 2:1:1 ratio) and blended them together. I repeated this until the pot was full (getting additional soil as needed), and then I repeated the process for the other three pots. I set the filled fabric pots in my garage (Pic. 10) for two days to allow any upset bugs to flee into my garage instead of my house. I then moved the pots (wrapping them in a contractor garbage bag to prevent making a mess) into the room with the grow light. I placed a board on top of the fabric pots to insulate the plants (in their smaller pots) from the cold soil (Pic. 11). Once the soil in the fabric pots reaches room temperature, I will transplant. (Ref. 1) This video shows the method I used to take a soil sample. I didn’t have a field to test, so I took four samples from the area where I will eventually plant outdoors and blended them together. Welcome! In this grow we have: 2x Platinum Wedding Crasher 2x Gelato 41 1x Sour OG 2x Lemon Kush Germination/Rooting - 14 Days 9/17/21 - The clones look good in solo cups of soil. We will transplant into 5 gallon pots in the grow tent after they fully root in the cups. 9/18/21 - Looks like the clones are doing well in soil! We are so excited to grow these out. The clones came from a very highly respected grower. 9/19/21 - No ugly growth. All clones look amazing! We upgraded the light to a Mars TSW 2000. 9/20/21 - They are looking good and most likely rooting throughout the cups. I’ll give them a little bit of water today. I want the roots to go looking for the water so I’ve kept them slightly dry. 9/21/21 - They look happy. I will let them just do their thing… We are waiting on our Mars TSW 2000 light to show up anyways. No roots visible from the drainage holes in the cups. 9/22/21 - Looking really healthy and growing nicely. I’m excited for them to fully root in the cups so we can transplant them into the tent. The Mars TSW 2000 should be here in the next few days. 9/23/21 - Looking so good! We can’t wait to get these under the Mars TSW 2000 in the tent. They smell and look great. 9/24/21 - The clones look really good except for one Sour OG. It wilted and died, roots did not take unfortunately. I have a Lemon Kush started from seed we will grow in place of the dead Sour OG. Today we got our Mars Hydro TSW 2000 light. We will be hanging it and updating with pics/videos. 9/25/21 - They look amazing. Lots of growth while rooting. 9/26/21 - So far so good. Watering when the cups get light in weight. In just a few days we will be transplanting. See the video for today, we hung the Mars Hydro TSW 2000! 9/27/21 - Watered them yesterday, they look healthy. The Lemon Kush isn’t a clone, it is from seed. It’s the smallest girl but it’ll perk up quickly. 9/28/21 - Transplant day!! The clones are looking really good and it’s time to transplant into the 4x4 under that Mars Hydro TSW 2000 at 50% intensity. Check out the pictures and videos from today!

This was probably one of best looking plants I’ve done outdoor, grew really well in the new spot. Had a great main cola with many decent sized side branches. Didnt even do any training on this girl and produced plenty. Next year will do this again but peak summer and do some training on her. What a great plant, especially in the uk weather she holded off nicely. Big thanks to barneys farm for sending me these strains to try out. That’s all, happy growing 🌱

She is fattening up slowly but surely, pure water from now on. The light times have also been reduced to 10 hours to speed up the growth as I need the grow room quite quick and this strain is taking longggg and she stinks the whole street out when the windows are open! ( I can't smell it because I'm used to it lol) Some light over the horizon as pistils are starting to turn brown at lower levels somewhat and trichomes becoming more cloudier whilst earlier trichomes turn an Amber like colour. Fox tail issue has been somewhat resolved by increasing ventilation and reducing light power via the dimmer. Here's to flushing!! 609 ppm and 1168 us/cm 25.0 degrees celcius

Trainwreck #1 suffered from bud rot and had to be thrown out. That was unfortunate considering the original bud structure was spectacular. Oct. 24 Trainwreck #2 was trimmed & jarred. Final weight was 4 ounces of smokable bud and 10 ounces for Ice water hash. Thanks for stopping by See ya next season Stay safe

Did some light pruning also.

Day 29-02/09/22 trying to get back on track with all these diaries after being Sick and product earth festival!!! These 3 purple punch look good got some Burnt tips but nothing major think it’s more the light than nuts burn as light was closer to these 3 plants because they got taller than the others

Que pasa familia, vamos actualizar esta 5 semana de floración, y no veáis cómo se está poniendo el asunto, las flores están repletas de resina , en los 2 indoors los 9 ejemplares están floreciendo bastante bien hay 3 con pequeñas carencias que no puedan solucionar buenos abonos. Entre riego y riego suelen pasar 2/3 días hasta que el sustrato está bien seco. La temperatura en estos 2 indoors es estable ni sube de 26 ni baja de 21 así que fetén, la humedad a sido controlada en la sala, antes estaba un poco alta , ahora ya no sobrepasa los 55%. En las fotos podéis aprecias que las flores van engordando y progresando como debe ser. Hasta aquí es todo espero que siga todo como ahora hasta el final, irnos humos 💨💨💨 y feliz año 🎊 .
