Day 42. General Hydroponics maxigro every other watering. Frosting up nicely.

Day 77 The canopy has really filled in nicely - the plant looks healthy, bushy, and well-trained. The SCROG net is doing its job perfectly, keeping the tops even and encouraging strong horizontal growth. Leaves are a deep, healthy green with no visible nutrient burn or deficiency. Growth appears balanced and vigorous.

Nebenprojekt Erster Balkon Grow 2x Gorilla Auto von 420Fastbuds 2x 12l Stofftopf mit mineralischer Floragard Erde. Unser Balkon ist leider nur ein suboptimaler Standort für den Cannabisanbau. Es gibt kaum direktes Sonnenlicht. Trotzdem ist es der Einzige Ort wo ich mit Sonnenlicht Arbeiten kann. Dementsprechend gering waren meine Erwartungen. Es musste Katzensicher werden, daher das Mini-Gewächshaus (60x40x160cm) Ich habe eine Art Abluft Installiert. Um zumnindest die Luft zirkulieren lassen zu können. Hitze Stau gab es trotzdem. Bis zu 42° waren keine Seltenheit. Zusätzlich lag mein Fokus eher auf den Indoor Anbau. Deswegen wollte ich mal sehen was passiert wenn ich außer geißen, absolut nichts an Zeit reinstecke, Wärhend dem Grow. Es wird hier weder Trainiert oder vorgezogen oder gedüngt, noch sonst etwas gemacht. Und so endstand mein kleines Experiement mit dem Namen: Zero Maintenance Grow. Trotz diversen ungebetenen Gästen, wie Tripse, Gartenwanzen Spinnen und Mehrtau haben sie es bis ins Zeil geschafft. Viel, ist dabei nicht rumgekommen. Aber das war auch nicht das Primäre Ziel. Aber schön wers gewesen. Rückblickend wäre eine Indoor-Vorzucht in jedem Fall angebracht gewesen. Im Nächsten Jahr werde ich auf jeden Fall ein Paar Dinge anders/besser machen. Es hat auch wirklich Freude gemacht, mal zu sehen was passiert, wenn man es einfach laufen lässt.

Sunday Jan 3; Transitioning from Veg to Flower Nutes is in progress. Tonight sees 2/3 Bloom / 1/3 Veg and that’s it. - dropped tent temp down to 26C and humidity seems steady just under 50% - feeding schedule has been every other day. Stretching that to every 3 days after tonight ** water volume is my conundrum ** Do I add more water for the plant ? Am I giving enough Nutrients to the plant for it to grow big? Question Time ! &. Results: Volume of water was raised again for dinner tonight. 2.5 g between both plants. On the great advice I received today from 2 growers, and my desire to increase the amount of food that the plants see; the volume of water will go up and the time between feedings will resemble more of a 4 & 2 day cycle. Other Changes—- *”hand-weighing the pots” to get a Feel for moisture content, will become a regular task. **Giving the plants an extra day to absorb larger feedings, will become part of a staggered routine to help keep them on the Dry-Side Mad growth again today (sun p.m.), with the last taste of Medi-One out of the way early in week 3. A 4 day liquid-break and then 100% flower food. Jan 4 saw the plant looking well hydrated. No obvious run-off from yesterday’s feeding, says a deep watering has not happened yet. I will give the soil moisture a chance to recover, and increase next weeks Volume of water (aka nutrition) slightly once again. Breaking new ground ie: past a gallon per plant indoors and watering based on actual Needs. looking for real progress Jan 6th: next dinner is listed above, either tonight or tomorrow it will be used, based on how Dry the plants feel tonight Today is day 3 since the last watering. If possible I’ll hold-out till tomorrow. is Desert-like. Leaves are still pert. And the ~13 gallons or so of soil still feels bloody solid. So I’ll wait till a 4th day and feed it tomorrow. Fresh pictures uploaded w/ a video Jan 7: Fed each plant after 4 days without food or water, and they look great. Upped water volume 1/4 gal ea., (1.5 gal total ea.) and this will start the desired 4/2 watering schedule. Amount goes up each of next couple weeks. (Then taper off nutes and h2o in the last weeks is the plan) -plants looked great after 4 days without water. Here’s one for patience. -if the plant growth and bud development are any indication... the plant on the left appears to be a week ahead of the plant on the right. The one on the right just seems to be taking off now. Jan 8 Uv-B use has been s/d for the time being ~ 3 or 4 weeks. I am going to wait until there are actual buds on the branches, before making good use of the wavelength. * also behind that decision is the fact that the plant Under the Light, is solidly 4” behind the other since I started adding short periods of uv-b exposure. (The plants were exactly equal up until I started exposing the R plant for 1/2 the CMH exposure. ie: 6 hours) The plant lagging behind in reach and bud development, is the uv-b plant. And that’s only been using it since Dec 31st ! As it stands articles are saying to use the Uv-B later in flower. OK, I’m in ! Taking action on an observation. Sat Jan 9: - opening the tent tonight there was a 3” stretch over the course of the nite/day on the left. And it looks like the plant on the right is kicking-in as well. Slower, but happening. Like the whole L plant grew 3”

Just growing through the net now, slight defoliation only when needed, cleaned out some low hanging leaves underneath and a few hopeless bud sites under the canopy. I feel like I could probably defoliate a bit more but not gonna push my first plant, just doing as much tucking as I can to help out. Its adding an inch plus everyday of height now and I am not sure how tall she is going to stretch, Im running out of room above the lights so from here on nearly every inch of stretch will be closing that gap. 18” now will be keeping a close eye and hopefully will not have to dim my lights. Currently running 200w @ 100% veg tuned.

Day 42 - 1/26/23 - lowered lights brightness to 6

Week 8 of flower is in the books and this show is quickly coming to an end. I said last week we had about 7-10 days and I was spot on at the 10 day mark. I was only wrong about the order. The cheese is ready to chop before the rest and the gorilla cookies, cherry Bomb and lemon haze will follow in due course. The cheese is a beast and it’ll take a little time to get it all run through the bowl trimmer. At least the big one goes first. Her tallest colas have foxtailed like mar, despite the late supercrop. You can tell where the sweet spot for the light is at about 10” distance from the canopy. Any closer than that and the tails begin to show prominently. It’s a good example of just how close you can get to these fixtures with a little bit of prior experience. It’s been noted for the next run😎👍😎. The res. is on an h2o2 only flush for the remainder until the rest are ready to come down. Not a moment too soon either - the pollen chucking project has stalled out waiting for these girls to finish and now that we’ll have a little extra room, we can start running our cuts in the aerocloner🤟. Not long at all now folks. Thanks for tagging along through all this. Learned a bunch about this system and we’re back to hardware mode to make some serious improvements for the next run🤙😎. I love hardware mode😉. Background/Repetitive Nonsense The strain line up on this grow is look’n quite saucy 😈. We’ve got 2 FB strains this time around - Gorilla Cookies (seems we always have some GSC cross in the works). Mainly because the colours look stellar and remind me of a sugar breathe we did last year that was 🔥. The other FB is their original Cheese strain... because we already smoked all our cheese... and we really like our cheese...😉. Emerald triangle was kind enough to include a freebie of Lemon Haze. Wasn’t really big on the list but we haven’t done a haze strain to write home about yet so worth a go👍. The last is a Cherry auto from Bomb seeds that we’ve been trying to get to for months. Let’s just hope that she’s not a dud like the last bean. The new digs for this run are courtesy MarsHydro👊. Their 2x4 single grow tent, paired with a shiny new 240w QB courtesy ViparSpectra. These folks were kind enough to discuss a collaboration and as a result, here we are to test out the gear with an inaugural run of autos. Each week, we’ll try to expand on some of the benefits of each, as well as any limiting factors or considerations that need attention when pondering purchase. Already I can say that both are high quality products in terms of overall craftsmanship. MarsHydro 2x4 Grow Tent: Excellent construction in terms of durability. Reinforced stitching on the zippers and corners ensures zero tearing. Conveniently placed screen vents and intake/exhaust ports. The ceiling exhaust port only exists on the right side. Perfect for me but not great if you’re running exhaust from the top on the left side (left side wall port makes up for this however). The aluminum frame is rigid enough to support the weight of the lights and accessories. Once you have some weight in the tent, she’s go’n nowhere and you can assemble and break it down in record time if moving or stashing the grow op. Only limiting factors I’ve noticed is that temp. Control will be an issue for a tent. It just doesn’t have the same insulating ability as a wood cabinet or other permanent enclosed space. No worries, this is offset by a small desktop heater and keeps the environment exactly where desired. The other issue was a production problem - the ceiling vent was accidentally stitched into the corner seams on the assembly line. Again, no real issue - just pulled it out with no damage or fraying to the tent or port👍. Closest comparable to it that I’ve seen would be spiderfarmers line of qbs. They feature the same top-o-the-line components and roughly similar spectrums. Where VS takes the advantage is in the convenience of the dimmer nob which is easily accessible and works great at 50% with no strobing👍. The heat sink is also larger which contributes to lower temps. That’s not a good thing in my case but beneficial for most folks. I can already say that this will be a great fixture through all stages of growth. Where I know this light will excel will be in the veg. Stage for sure. Dimming function gives seedlings a much better chance of success with the ability to use lower lighting levels early on and the coverage area on a 240w is great. The average grower will find this panel suitable and fitting to their needs in a 2x4 grow space although I’d suggest 2 units if going any larger than that. The total output in this space equates to about 30w/sq.ft. Which is a decent amount of coverage based on power vs. Growprint. Ideal for veg. Certainly but, in flower - I tend to run closer to 50-60w/sq.ft to achieve higher yields. Again, similar fixtures have performed admirably in the past and while this wouldn’t be considered an “entry-level” fixture, I’d recommend that any grower new to the game not skimp on lighting and start with one of these. The price points are a great value for quality LED tech. These days, so there’s little reason to even consider a lesser fixture👍. I have no detail on limiting factors for this light as yet but have heard that stock branded fixtures don’t necessarily incorporate enough red diodes. I’ve seen no issue myself but confess - I’m no lighting guru. Just been transplanted into s bigger pot for another 1-2 weeks until mu autos are ready snd into rheir final one

I didn't bother updating the diary last week as there was nothing going on really, just finished the 1st week of flushing and another week till harvest. Only big change going on is the hps and little viparspectra LEDs have been taken out and replaced by 2x invisible sun ISH265 quantum boards.

06/03/19 - These plants have grown so fast, normally at this stage my previous plants have been much smaller, only 14 days old and got a 8-9 wingspan on the fan leaves, I’m really happy I’ve turned to mills as I’ve had no faults with them yet, I did see a slight cal defiency on one of them but this was my own fault not the nutrients, I heard I dident have to add cal mag as their A&B had extra in it, but as I’m in coco I made a mistake but I’m hopeing that it’s gonna be a quick fix and they will be back to normal in the next few days 🤞🏻 09/03/19 - the gelatos seem like their doing fine, had a few brown specs but nothing progressed and it looks like their doing good. 12/03/19 - started to LST/leaf braid today as their already big enough for it and should be switching to flower at the end of next week

Ladies are growing tall quickly - much quicker than the other seedlings in DWC systems at the moment. Rather unexpected actually. No additional nutrients added, only adding water to wet the surface when it looked really dry. Repotting next week into larger pots.
