Week 1 Update
This new tester popped off quickly! She sprouted a tap root in under 24 hours while soaking in water, then I moved her into a damp cotton pad and stored her in a dark cupboard. Her tap root grew steadily, and I transferred her into a solo cup filled with soil soon after. Right now, she’s under a grow light until she gets a bit more size on her I don’t want to risk placing her outside too early.
Pest Management
One reason I haven’t moved her outdoors yet is to avoid early pest issues—especially from leaf miner insects. These pests lay eggs inside the leaf tissue, and when the larvae hatch, they tunnel through the leaves, leaving visible trails and damaging healthy growth. Young seedlings are especially vulnerable, so keeping her inside for now gives her a better chance to establish before facing outdoor pests.
Germination Temp
Ideal temperature for germinating in a cotton pad is between 22–26°C, with high humidity and low light. This warm, dark environment supports quick, healthy root development before the seed is planted in soil.
Indoor Climate Conditions
Day Temperature: 24–27°C
Night Temperature: 21–23°C
