The Genetics – A 90s Legend Revisited
White Widow. Say the name, and it sends a nostalgic chill down your spine if you were around in the 90s. This is one of the true classics, a hybrid known for its frosty look and legendary high. Bred initially by Green House Seeds, and now cultivated by Zamnesia, this strain has stood the test of time.
We’re not just germinating seeds here—we’re reviving memories.
For germination, I used the Cannakan, a clean and easy germination chamber that allows for precision and clarity. Into it, I added plain water and labeled the laminate clearly: White Widow – Zamnesia. All three seeds germinated successfully within 48 hours, full marks to the genetics.
I also added something special to the water:
Aptus Holland Regulator – A silicon-based product that strengthens cell walls, improves nutrient uptake, and helps mitigate stress.
Aptus Holland Start Booster – Root stimulator packed with humic acids and amino acids to kickstart enzymatic processes and early growth.
Why? Because even at this stage, the foundation is everything. The right beginning sets the tone for the plant’s entire life.
🔥 The Heat Mat Incident
Let’s be honest: not everything went smoothly. I used a seed heating mat from Amazon, and it turned into a bit of a disaster. I won’t be using it again. Lesson learned. The heat was inconsistent and most likely affected the balance. That batch had to go. But like a phoenix, we rose again.
This time: no heating mat. Just patience, observation, and good water. 🌱
Once the seed cracked (within 48h), I gently moved them into the soil. And boom, less than 24 hours later, the first signs of life broke through the surface. She’s alive, she’s awake, and she’s already reaching for the light.
Light Cycle: 11/13 From Seed – Experimental Run
Here’s where it gets juicy. Instead of vegging under 18/6 or 20/4, we’re going full flower cycle from seed using a 11 hours ON / 13 hours OFF light schedule. This is my personal twist on the more common 12/12 from seed, inspired by SID and other long-flowering sativa growers.
Why 11/13?
Simulates tropical flowering cycles
Encourages faster sexual expression
Saves energy
Potentially boosts resin and terp production
A higher PPFD compensates for shorter light exposure
This is my first time doing it, so expect raw, unfiltered feedback. For good or for bad, we’re documenting everything.
This is just the beginning of a whole new Grow Series coming to YouTube. We’ll be walking through the entire process:

P.S. I’m not a fan of the new 30-file upload limit on GrowDiaries!!! I truly hope the platform reconsiders. I have so many more photos and videos to share with the community. My apologies to everyone watching closely — I’ll keep trying to find ways to share everything I can!
