Number 2 pheno might herm on me so I have to watch but I have limited plants and I really want to keep these genetics so I need atleast one female. Number 3 the mutant stopped growing before I topped, or maybe not stopped but it threw out pistils at the apical meristem and not producing leaves so I topped to see if I could promote side growth but it hasn't worked; I'm going to keep her around just for the fun of it. 4 is my hope of producing female and a good clone.

Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10:45 AM D 62 -Ooof! Not really sure what happened but a couple of my plants got rocked pretty hard. I must’ve overwatered them. I bought a soil meter so I can check what’s going on. I’ll put some pictures up. Hopefully it’s still going to be some fire. The strawberry crinkle is kicking ass one of the blood oranges is looking good and smelling great but the other blood orange and the forum Stomper got hit pretty hard. The blood oranges leaves have started to yellow and the smell It had disappeared. The forum Stomper still smells good but its leaves got hit the hardest. -this is my first indoor soil grow. Before this I grew everything hydroponically and if I dealt with soil, it was all outdoors. I’ve also grown using cocoa so I had that as a reference. That was a mistake. Growing in cocoa is really hard to drown your plants. Drenching a plant that’s growing in soil is not a good idea. -It might sound dumb to some of you growers out there, but having a digital meter for your soil is awesome. I stick that thing in there and I stop watering when it tells me that it’s good, highly recommended.

They still seem to be growing, although going in the room twice a day, it is difficult to notice unless I look closely or compare photos with previous weeks. Going to cut off a couple small pieces of calyx's shortly and will post a couple pictures from my scope. Speaking of those, they're starting to give me some nice colours, slight purples, neon greens and yellows, the photos don't really do them justice under the warm lighting but I will try and take a couple pics in some white light when I chop her down in a couple weeks time. It is also quite difficult to illustrate the size of some of these colas, the one near the back on the right, is about 19 inches long, and about 4 inches wide. Looks like 2 ounces of bud hanging on her and I have had to lasso some string around it and a couple other colas as they were falling down. Bringing EC slowly down to around 1.2 - I think I will cut nutrient strength down to about 0.8 EC in a few days time to try and hurry her along a bit. I will only be flushing for 3 days at the end of this grow, they will also be in the dark for 2 days at the end with low temps (mid teens in ºC) to preserve terpenes, oils and other cannabinoids. I'm shocked and impressed at how much abuse from my mistakes (high PH, low PH, no nutrients, to nutrient burn to light burn) and it turns out so good! I did a rough trim on them and hung the branches on hangers. Harvest: Everything dried up to 347 grams + 96 grams of super high quality trim. Overall I am not too pleased with the smoke of the product. Although the bud size, bag appeal, smell and taste are pretty much all there, the shitty burn is a deal breaker for me and the majority of this weed is quite frankly useless. Another downside is while smoking I’ve found 4 seeds in an ounce from almost every strain. Light leaks? At least I learned a ton, including how to get super good burn for my next crop. I’m hoping that curing for a month or so will improve the burn but I wouldn’t really count on it. I have seen weed dried for 4 days with no cure and no flush smoke clean and not go out once. I have been told that the key to white ashes/clean burn is proper mineral content in the soil and there is tons of scientific studies on cigar ash going back 100 years. Plants grown in a medium with high levels of decomposing organic matter, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and heavy metal ratio tend to produce black/grey ash. Whereas plants grown in a medium with a higher ratio of trace minerals like calcium carbonate and potassium in the form of wood ash, rock dusts, oyster shell flour and lower levels of decomposing organic matter will produce a dense, uniform white ash that rarely goes out. But this is still all theory until I test it to confirm for myself a few times. My last few outdoor harvests did not improve with curing at all so I’m hoping this will be the missing link. Plain peat moss and coco clearly lack essential minerals that help burn. If said theory is correct I should find a synthetic nutrient line with more trace minerals. Makes me wonder if growing if rockwool/basalt rock could improve burn in a hydro setup. I think I did a fairly decent job for my first grow. I went wrong in a million different places but I still stuck it out and got some decent herb. Things went wrong early when I got black spot mold, nitrogen/magnesium deficiencies and powdery mildew. I corrected most of it but things didn’t get really bad until mid veg when I intentionally skipped a few feedings and defoliated quite heavily stunting the plants. I also didn’t even top or start LST until the 6-9th node which was really stupid and hurt my yield. My temperatures were all over the place from the learning curve. I was severely overwatering without realizing it. 100% peat moss is a shitty medium. I also fed way too late in flower (not what caused shitty burn). I also used synthetic nutrients in soil.
