It has been another amazing week of the plants growing. I have been watching as the Fruity Freak leaves become progressively more fern-like, and ornamental as a result! Based on my Banizzle grows, I knew I needed to understand plant nutrients in a more meaningful way if I wanted these plants to thrive. So, I decided to get a soil test (see Ref. 1 below on how to perform a test) to understand what nutrients my plants needed. The report I received advised that I needed to add 200 lbs/acre of nitrogen, 150 lbs/acre of phosphorus, and 190 lbs/acre of potassium (see picture labeled Pic.1 (FYI you can't see these images unless you login to growdiaries)). I then researched what to do with my results (Ref. 2 helped), and I figured out that my nutrient needs of 200-150-190 fall close to a 2-1-2 ratio. I then looked at different types of organic fertilizers (see Ref. 3 and Ref. 4) and considered that I already had a 3-10-5 fertilizer (Vermibloom) on hand. I discovered Dr Earthโ€™s Alfalfa Meal is 2-1-2 and includes beneficial bacteria and mycorrhizae (to promote healthy plant growth and disease resistance). However, I knew I would be low on nitrogen if I only used those two fertilizers. Therefore, I decided to buy some blood meal (12-0-0). I also liked that blood meal is more fast acting while the other two are more moderate. I hunted around for a solid fertilizer calculator and found an amazing tool from the University of Georgia Extension (Ref. 5). I entered all three fertilizers into the calculator, and it kicked out the exact amount of each fertilizer I needed to apply to 1 square foot (see Pic. 2). As I am using 10-gallon fabric pots (that can hold 1.5 cubic feet, but I put stone on the bottom and thereโ€™s space left at the top) I decided to use the one square foot application rate as I can always add more later, but I canโ€™t take it away. Not only did I want to understand the nutrients I needed, but I also wanted to understand the structure of the soil (as it was not included in my test results). North Dakota State University has a nice page that discusses this (Ref. 6), and I performed a soil ribbon test (see Video 1) based on this information. I determined my soil to be medium textured (which is great), but I have seen occasional water pooling on the surface, suggesting that it may be more of a medium-fine. This means adding peat moss, coco coir, or other amendments might improve drainage (and plant hydration) and allow for roots to grow more easily. In the long run, I plan to use compost to enhance the soil structure and nutrients. I filled the bottom of my 10-gallon fabric pots with a ยฝโ€ of pea stone to allow for drainage (Pic. 3). I then partially filled two 5-gallon buckets with topsoil from near where I will plant (but not in an area the roots will reach). I used a digital scale to measure the amount of fertilizers recommended by the calculator (Pic. 4, 5, and 6) and added it to one of the 5-gallon buckets (see Pic. 7). I mixed the fertilizers into the soil as evenly as possible (Pic. 8 and 9). I then poured a two-inch layer of non-fertilized soil, then peat moss, and then fertilized soil (in a roughly 2:1:1 ratio) and blended them together. I repeated this until the pot was full (getting additional soil as needed), and then I repeated the process for the other three pots. I set the filled fabric pots in my garage (Pic. 10) for two days to allow any upset bugs to flee into my garage instead of my house. I then moved the pots (wrapping them in a contractor garbage bag to prevent making a mess) into the room with the grow light. I placed a board on top of the fabric pots to insulate the plants (in their smaller pots) from the cold soil (Pic. 11). Once the soil in the fabric pots reaches room temperature, I will transplant. (Ref. 1) This video shows the method I used to take a soil sample. I didnโ€™t have a field to test, so I took four samples from the area where I will eventually plant outdoors and blended them together. I then mailed my soil sample off to the lab, and about a week later, I received an email with a PDF of my results (included with my pictures this week). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9AwxmFxBwg&t=8s (Ref. 2) This video from the University of Minnesota Extension (many universities have agriculture extensions that can assist you with soil testing and growing information for your area) discusses what to do with your soil testing results: https://youtu.be/HYrkcfE62Pg (Ref. 3) This is a nice article that discusses organic fertilizer solutions: https://www.grow-it-organically.com/npk-fertilizer.html (Ref. 4) This article lists the NPK values of many organic fertilizer solutions: https://www.epicgardening.com/organic-fertilizers/ (Ref. 5) Many websites tout a fertilizer calculatorโ€ฆbut this one is hands down the best I have found. If you scroll down to the bottom, you can enter any fertilizer type you want (and the cost, if you want). It will give you the exact blend of multiple fertilizers to solve your nutrient deficiencies (I included a snapshot of the solution I used in my pictures). https://aesl.ces.uga.edu/soil/fertcalc/ (Ref. 6) This is an excellent article that discusses how to evaluate your soil: https://www.ndsu.edu/agriculture/extension/publications/evaluating-preparing-and-amending-lawn-and-garden-soil

Hi growers :-) It smells better every day, and looks more delicious ๐Ÿ˜. There is not much to say this week. They are still blooming 10 to 38 days. The 3 Victory Kush F1 and the Zkittlez in front were rinsed, and are still around 10-14 days. The rest needs a bit :-) Until then everyone have a nice weekend and let it grow ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ WEEK 1 / DAYS 1-7 (flo) ๐Ÿ”™ The first four weeks of vegetation went remarkably smoothly. I gradually increased the EC from 0.6 to 1.2, and the plant responded with healthy, compact growth. By the end of week 4, the plant was bushy, vibrant green, and ready for the flip after a 24-hour flush. ๐Ÿ’ง At the beginning of this week I introduced a new nutrient solution with EC 1.6 - PH 6 and also started adding a flowering stimulator to the mix, Power Buds by Plagron. She's definitely thirsty, drinking about 2 LT/day, and importantly, isn't showing any signs of stress from the change. ๐ŸŒฑ With the switch to the 12/12 light cycle, the plant has started the stretching, increasing in height from 21 cm to 29 cm. It's also become incredibly bushy! Given her still relatively contained height, I've decided I won't be using a SCROG net.

Hey guys . A wonderful week goes by with a super growth :-). After I topped it for the first time last week, it recovered very quickly and showed great growth. I don't think I will use topping again on the lady because I should slowly blossom with a few other women :-) think it will be ready in the next 7-14 days for Flowering ๐Ÿ‘. This week it was poured 3 times with 1 l each time (for nutrients, see table above). The tent was cleaned and the health of all women was checked :-). After the photos she was sprayed again with neem oil so that the last little tripse disappeared. Even if you can't see any more trips I will spray it one last time next week to make sure :-). I wish you all a happy new year 2022 โ˜บ๏ธ. Lollipopped in the middle of the third week. Added 500ml water plus 10ml Bio PK 5/8 and 2.5ml/l Orgatrex ONCE per plant. Watering every two days around 2l water. Sometimes more, sometimes less and sometimes also the next day again a bit- just how it seems to me. Two small fans blow air backwards below the leaf line and slightly upwards. Above the lamp, also at the front, there is a swivel fan in the corner which blows air downwards. The Fat Freddy's Cat are all between 88-97cm tall. The Mimosa X Orange Punch are between 83-90cm high The London Pound Cake X Zoap is 33cm tall (but also 1.5 weeks younger and shorter in flower) It has become much colder outside, at night a small additional heater has to run in the room (outside the tent). One plant at the back got a too big stretch. I hope it's over, because the Tent is only 2m high and It don't have any more space to lift the LED. Also I wanted to set the light at 100%, from the 4.flowering week but the plant already shows light stress, I will consider, what I will do against it.

Week 10 - Second Week of Flowering ๐ŸŒธ As week two of flowering begins, the gardenโ€™s growth is unstoppable! These ladies are thriving, stretching up while staying beautifully vibrant and green. Every inch of this tent is optimizedโ€”each plant is soaking up light, nutrients, and water precisely as they need, filling the room with energy. Room Conditions ๐ŸŒก๏ธ โ€ข Temperature: 27.3ยฐC โ€ข Humidity: 62.6% โ€ข COโ‚‚ Levels: 800 ppm โ€ข VPD: 1.36 kPa (excellent range for robust flowering) โ€ข Lighting Intensity: 818 PPFD Solution & Medium ๐Ÿ’ง โ€ข Solution Temp: 21.5ยฐC | TDS: 470 ppm | pH: 6.02 โ€ข Medium: Moisture 100% (recently dried to 67%), TDS 510 ppm, Temp 22.5ยฐC The โ€œdry-outโ€ to 67% was a strategic move, helping boost nutrient uptake and root strength. Meanwhile, our slight increase in reds seems to be having the desired effect, nudging these ladies further along in the flowering process. Eye Safety & LED Lighting ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ With powerful LED systems like the ThinkGrow and ICL-300, eye protection is critical. LED grow lights emit high-intensity light across the full spectrum, including intense UV and infrared components that are not easily detected by the human eye. Long-term exposure without adequate protection can lead to eye strain, and in extreme cases, damage to vision. โ€ข Blue Light Hazard: LEDs often have elevated levels of blue light, which can harm the retina over time if proper precautions arenโ€™t taken. โ€ข UV Protection: Even low doses of UV can accumulate and harm eyes, so grow glasses with UV protection are essential for any indoor gardener. Investing in quality grow room glasses can help protect from glare, UV, and infrared rays, making plant care safer and more comfortable. Lighting Enhancements: ICL-300 In-Depth ๐Ÿ”† The ICL-300 is our newest addition, specifically designed for inner canopy illumination. This LED offers a targeted light boost under the canopy, enhancing flower growth in lower and shaded areasโ€”ideal for maximizing yield and light efficiency. โ€ข Dual Spectrum Technology: The ICL-300 provides a custom spectrum designed to penetrate deeper into the plant canopy, promoting robust bud formation throughout. โ€ข Enhanced Light Distribution: With strategically positioned diodes, the ICL-300 reduces shadowing and balances light distribution to all parts of the plant. โ€ข Energy Efficiency & Heat Management: This light is designed to be energy-efficient, running cooler and reducing the risk of heat stress within the grow space. The inner canopy light gives the plants exactly what they need, particularly during the flower stage when bud sites deep in the canopy can benefit from more direct exposure. However, after noticing slight leaf burn on some plants, Iโ€™ll hold off a bit longer before fully integrating this light to ensure optimal adjustment. Looking Forward ๐ŸŒŸ As we continue dialing in conditions, itโ€™s all about balance, precision, and taking proactive steps to optimize every aspect of the grow environment. Weโ€™ll keep a close watch on the canopy height, and next week, Iโ€™ll aim to fine-tune the light integration even further with the ICL-300. P.S. - ICL-300 and COโ‚‚ Sensor ๐ŸŒฑ The TrolMaster COโ‚‚ Sensor (MBS-S8) has been crucial for real-time COโ‚‚ adjustments, ensuring the plants get exactly what they need without constant monitoring. Combined with the ICL-300โ€™s spectrum flexibility, these tools make an unbeatable setup, allowing for nuanced control over plant growth and development. As always, a huge thanks to the Grow Fam for the tips, support, and enthusiasm! Iโ€™m excited to see what these next weeks will bring as these plants reach their full flowering potential. This week was easy, just keeping an eye on the environment and low stress and high stress (supercropping) methods. Top soil was amended last week to keep the slow release organic nutrients for bloom going. The genetics are keeping it low profile, but I am able to spread it out with it's flower stretch. Have some decent top sites forming. Removing fan leaves from prime bud sites, otherwise defoliation is pretty low. Tucking fan leaves and other leaves as much as possible without removal as well. Ladies have been drinking water daily and seem to be quite healthy and green. Will be interesting to see the bud formation as it grows. I am curious with the Lowryder genetics seeming to be in stature, wondering if buds will be more Lowryder or AK-47 looking. Genetics seem resilient and quite happy with warmer and dryer environment. This week focusing on training more to get canopy how I want for final flower form. Defoliation as necessary, and keeping an eye on the environment. Things have been smooth and easy so far. The light measurements are using my phone, in a case, with LED lighting, so highly likely the readings aren't very accurate. But gives me an idea where my zones are for hitting most intensity where I need.

Day 91, plants #1&3 are still maturing and not ready to be chopped. They are definitely running longer than I expected. I have plant #2 in jars and curing already. Total dry weight for her was 98g or 3.5oz!!! Definitely more than I was expecting. I was hoping for 1.5oz so Iโ€™m definitely a happy guy about that!!! Update #2: upon further investigating, looks like Iโ€™m going to start flushing the last 2 plants in a couple days when they go through all their current nutrients. Theyโ€™re about ready to come down. I harvested last two plants on day 98. Currently drying. I will update with final weight in a couple days.

Day 98, 40 days of flower, Plants are progressing well from all the abuse I've put them threw. Not sure when to chop plant B. Keeping an eye on the tricomes. Day 99, 41 days of flower, Watered with 3 liters per plant of plain distilled water. Day 100, picked some dead leaves off like I do everyday now, just keeping an eye on plant B's trichomes since it's hairs are showing the most age. Plant A's hairs are all orange now, while plant C and D are still white. Looks like we will have a staggered harvest. Not sure when to harvest though. Day 101, 43 days of flower(start of week 7 of flower) - Picked more dead leaves off, Plant A- has the biggest bugs, all orange hairs, but the smallest stalk. Plant B- has a few new white hairs but is still aging. Plant C- has small frost buds, and alot of white hairs. Plant D- has medium sized buds with plents of frost, has lots of white hairs. Day 102, 44 days of flower- Watered with 3 liters of plain distilled water. Picked more dead leaves off of course to maintain a clean canopy and reduce options for bugs. Day 104, day 46 of flower- Plant B has some amber trichomes, so I might chop it today or tomorrow. Took alot of photos of plant B since it's my first harvest.
