How did you create/breed Freakshow? A. Methodical selection, line breeding, and culling is the short answer. Read our About page for more details. Q. Is it an indoor or outdoor type? A. Everything I've ever worked has been outdoors, including of course Freakshow. It has been our experience that outdoor (or sun grown, as it's recently being referred to) cultivars seem to perform extremely well under artificial conditions. This is true of seed starts or clones made from seed starts. The opposite is not always true; indoor clones often give an outdoor grower headaches because they don't always make the transition smoothly. This is due to light spectrum, temperature, and/or photoperiod changes. Yes, Freakshow will do exceedingly well indoors, and will thrive and mature just fine in a wide variety of natural environments as well, so it's definitely both and I think might even prove to be more resilient to those sorts of transitions. Q. What are the potency and terpenoid levels? A. Average 18-20% THCa, THC; negligible CBD, CBN with terps variable, averaging 2.5-3.5, primarily limonene and pinene, but this is variable, there was a lot of diversity in terp combinations and compositions in all the prior generations, it's just something that was left "as is" for now. The different parallel lines that we are developing can be directed in a few different pathways flavorwise. Q. Why are the seeds white? A. Why is the sky blue? No, the mature seeds are shrouded by a rice paper thin membrane which has coloring and mottling on it, but it's so fragile that it disintegrates in the process of shucking. Stripped of the outer layer the seeds are very pale, nearly white. It came as no surprise that this plant would have abnormal seeds. Q. Is it a GMO? A. Wow...? Well, it's seriously "modified" and the modifications are definitely genetic, and it is an organism. (Genuinely Modified Organically!) Uh, no. No radiation, no recombinant DNA, no gene splicing or editing, no TALEN or CRISPR! These biotechnologies don't belong in the food and medicine plant industries. I'll avoid discussion on this topic for now, but we hope some people enjoy consuming Frankenbud! Q. What's the floral period length? A. 8-9 wks, finishes early Oct. at most latitudes and elevations. Q. Is it a big producer? A. Freakshow will produce nice, fat, dense colas (see gallery) with remarkable trichome coverage, and you can expect yields according to your veg. time, root space, and general knowledge and expertise as a gardener. The same set of variables apply to expected outcomes regarding cannabinoid levels and terpene profiles. Q.What is the lineage? A. (Bigbud x Skunk#1) x (Big Sur Holy Weed x Banana Kush). NLD("Sativa") dominant, but the afghanica influence is apparent. I'm pretty sure that Freakshow contains some Trainwreck and some Maui Wowie based on some research I did on the origins of the Pineapple Express. Interestingly Big Sur Holyweed, OG Kush, Banana, Trainwreck, and Maui Wowie are all of unclear origins. We have to remember that these are all just names and that they don't really mean much. The exact heritage of any cultivar today is impossible to determine accurately. Also, considering the amount of continuous shameless hybridization that has occurred in the last 40 yrs., any modern kind could easily contain over 40 kinds. In the case of Freakshow, it's much more limited because the ancestry is largely older "Sativas" that didn't go through as much outcrossing. In the 70s in Santa Cruz, Haze was a favorite among surfers for the pure energy and I still have (greatly improved) stock of it around, simply because even when I made hybrids with it I always kept the original in pure form for obvious reasons. Q. What is the psychoactive effect like? A. Like the flavors, many people have commented that the "buzz" is somewhat different than other mainstream types out there. It's not entirely out of the scope of imagination that given that this strain has new alleles in so many other respects, that it could also contain new, unique cannabinoids, as well as new and unique terpenoids, some of which may not even be among the standard 16 or so that the average lab is testing for. Aside from the up, cerebral, energetic boost, some report a mild time/space warp effect. Creativity and idea induction should be mentioned, for sure. Freakshow has the pure energy effect and greatly alters perception to the positive side, so definitely destroys depression. Appetite suppression is a side effect, but the enjoyment of food is enhanced. I personally will attest to all of the above. We all have different receptor profiles, so these are just generalizations. Couch unlock. Q. Is it pest and mildew resistant? A. Indeed it is. On many occasions in the last few years, it has been observed that when pest and mildew issues were affecting other plants adjacent to in the vicinity of Freakshow plants, for unknown reasons the freaks remained entirely unaffected. This includes 0botritis, PM, various mites and insects, soil fungus, etc. We haven't heard any complaints along those lines so far, so if anyone has any problems, especially with a rigorous IPM regimen in place, we would like to hear about it. And if anyone can attest to the extreme level of resistance it seems to have we'd love to hear about that as well. Q. Does it contain web-leaf genetics? A. I thought I better clarify this because there are a few people thinking that because of an article "Growing Marijuana that Doesn't look like Marijuana" that mentions that I had worked web-leaf types years ago and had eventually turned that into Freakshow. This is incorrect and I'm needing to get ahold of the writer to have him change it. When I read the piece and saw the mistake I figured it didn't matter that much, that the actual method of breeding could just remain a "trade secret". Recently, I noticed online that a posting, "Freakshow only exists because of duckfoot" by Curious Cannabis Connoisseur, where he explains how I developed Freakshow using Duckfoot. Let me explain, about 20 yrs. ago a friend gave me a jar of seeds labeled "BC Bigbud" and I sprouted flats of hundreds to look for oddities and had found one web-leaf pheno which we named Webster. It was a female so I bred it to a normal leaf male and began selecting and stabilizing a line of Webster. About 5 or 6 generations later I had nailed it to 100% webs and had also stabilized it for a deep purple color and a nice "gingerbread" terp profile. I was busy working other lines at that point so I put Webster in the library. Also, I was having a hell of a time getting a pheno of it that flowered to my satisfaction. (it seemed to finish with a limited number of calyxes). I knew I would have to outcross it to something with a big tasty bud and restabilize it for web-leaf, and I no longer had the original BC Bigbud. I still have the Webster seeds, and trust me the thought has crossed my mind to make the cross with Freakshow, but why? Why mess around crossing things just to create something even weirder? I have heard that the "Duckfoot" also doesn't bud up well so maybe there's a correlation there. Anyway, people can do what they want to and I will too, but crossing Freakshow with some low-THC crap like ABC is in my opinion idiotic. I worked extremely hard stabilizing and perfecting a beautiful new subspecies and I believe it should be kept pure. I won't go on a rant here about the rampant crossing and the lack of line-breeding in the cannabis world in the last several decades, or where this will eventually lead us, but I will say that it's not in a good direction. Bottom line....Freakshow has no web-leaf genes, it was made using top-grade tropical narrow-leaf drug (NLD) cultivars. Q.Why is Freakshow patented? A. Although I and most others (including all the folks at HSC) believe in and subscribe to the concept of "open sourcing" because sharing in cannabis genetics was always the cultural norm, it was decided that Freakshow should be protected (1) because it is a novel and unique, not a preexisting strain (or even subspecies), (2) To keep the greedy corporate big boys from exploiting it, (3) To maintain control of the genetic refinement of it in all future generations. Or not, I'll leave that down to you but either way good luck with your grows, stay safe. 28/4/22 Have started these on the voodoo/La Calvera. These versions are from the ppl who hold the pattens and make a lot of ANs formulas. They have just improved upon most of the AN line up but they kept these the same. As they are tried and tested. You can check these out on led-grower.eu/terra-power/ and read up on them for yourself. Going to be running this one differently. As I can only use Terra Power Nutrients that match what AN products I have to make it fair, as it's a comparison grow I won't be using the 50 billion microbes per 1ml enzyme and a few other things. Have to make it as fair as I can. Everything will be the same, (only thing that will be different is the feed charts and how some of terra Power Nutrients can be applied as a foiler spray, I'm going to be following AN/TP grow charts to the letter to make it as fair as possible with decent results). Pot size, transplant/feed/light time Will all be the same. Hopefully soon you'll be able to click on them and look em up when they join GD in the next wk or so. As soon as both plants start to show leafs I will then apply nutrients in a very small dose. Like .5ml/l to start off with and of course I'll use the same amount of nutrients ml/ml. Hopefully the PPM won't go too high in TP as if it is I'll have to use less TP to match the PPM or get it close but if its not off by too much that it won't hurt the plant I'll be running with it. Maybe I'll add the nutrients solo when they start to feed. Both plants have been given 100ml of voodoo/La Calavera 300ppm 6ph 20c temp. 100ml and will apply again in 2 days. And when leafs start to show I'll start them on a weekly base nutrient feed but for waters in between I'll most likely be adding enzymes and root stims on every feed as they have very little EC and won't cause nutrient/tip burn. This is 1 of 6 so far that has been planted. 50% of the strains I have doubled up on, for this 1 though there'll be dif ph/ppm and that which I will add here. Advanced nutrients grow: everything I did above was repeated. PPM was 280 PH was 5.7 temp was 20c. When leafs show I will apply base nutes. I've laid a damp towel down around the pots on the ground to try and bring the RH up to 70+. (Don't fully wet the towel as it won't dry fast enough to make an impact on RH.) 30/4/22 Veg started on both ladies. VD1, both look very nice and just 38hrs in the ground they are both up. When I checked last night they weren't up but I had a feeling some would pop while I was sleeping, so I decided to turn on the grow light. I know it doesn't need to be on until they are up and showing the 2lil fan leafs but hey, 65% it is set at and 45cm away. RH is holding at 67% wet towel is just about dry will be wetting it again. Will also give both girls a feed after they come out of their rest period. As they are all so new I have turned the light on a 7/7 meaning every hrs it comes on and off. Will hold off on nutrients until I see both plants holding out hands. Will introduce some enzymes later today also. 1ml/L of Piranha and tarantula for both of them with voodoo. Both nutrient brands are the same, it's the same formula. Decided to make up the mix. Each custom terra P nutrient has a corresponding Adv Nutrient underneath. I'm going exactly of each of their grow charts and using as guide lines. Adv Nutrients says to use Tarantula&Piranha in weeks 1-2 of grow but terra Powers versions say to use these on weeks 3-4 So that's why I'm going to do. Ive used ml/ml in each nutrient. Adv Nutrients PH was 6.4ph and the EC was .94 TERRA POWERS nutrients were more stable and more potent PH 6.0 EC 1.19. So it looks like the PH balanced nutrients aren't controlled by the amount of ml you use as when you use 2ml/L of both grow A+B of adv nutrients the PH is in the range of 6.2. Water used was 6.7 our tap water has gone up must be because we coming into summer and the ppm jumped up from 78 to 105ppm. I use a charcoal filter for all my water doesn't change PH but lowers PPM from 78 to 105. I'll be using this 1L mix throughout it's 1st wk on every feed. As it's such a low dose I have no concern about salt build up. When I up the ml/L I'll use 1L of mix feed of each nutrient. So if the dose is 1ml/L they'll get that total amount in 1 week and as they get bigger and will be able to take 1l at a time they'll only be getting 1 feed of nutrients and water/enzyme feeds and root stims with no EC/SALT. 2/5/22 Both plants doing well. Fed again today. 100ml both plants their own nutrient mix. Both held the same EC but AN PH went up to 6.6 from 6.4 (still fine, and reasonable for a 3 day old mix) and terra power no change. 4/5/22 Made new mixes for both plants adjusted AN PH to 6, the same as Terra Power. (Needs no PH-+ ).. to make it as fair as I can, I've added a biobizz calmag agent to both mixes. 2ml/L was added to all 8mixes. 400ppm 2ml/L PH was 6.4 had to use PH - To bring it to 5.8. Didn't have any affected on the PH of terra power or the adjusted AN. I am guessing I only need a PH - now is cause I'm using so little of the PH perfect solution which is normally 6 but when mixed normally AN holds 6.2-3...Terra Power holds on 6 on everything so far. 6-7 nutrients all 6 PH. La Sirena is sooooo potent. Decided to add La Calavera aka voodoo juice. So, since I don't have a lux/ppfd meter. I use this to know exactly where it's most powerful. It really helped. As I had 4 plants is 12000 where I had space where the light was hitting 18500, I know the strength is off, but it gives me a guide as to where to place my plants it is going to help so much. 6/5/22 So, it's begun. I've created a negative pressure environment, 1st time, let's see if it makes an impact. On wk 3 onwards I'll be running the intake extraction for 5mins every 30mins and I'll have 2 co2 bags up. If the RH becomes a problem or temp I'll put the extraction/intake back on 100% of the time. The extraction fan/intake is set at a ratio of 2 to 1. (100% extraction 50% intake) making a negative pressure environment, best way to show you have done this, the walls in your tent should bow in lightly. In the beginning of flower in going to seal my 150x150 and I'll add 2 co2 bags into it and seal it up with the dehuimifier set at 45% 12/12 and it'll be superhot and I'll then put the photos into a negative pressure environment that'll be 8-10c lower and will have 45-50% RH, hopefully this will bring any terps out, the autos will get a 6hr rest in a negative pressure environment also this will bring the temp down by 8-10c and giving me a sudden drop in temp, let's see what happens. Same Day. Decided to brace AdvNutrient plant so she grows up right, she started to bend, had bout a 30degree bend. Simply braced her with a clamp to a stick a few cm away from the tap root with stem inbetween, should keep the ADVNUTE plant up right. Terra Power plant growing straight and healthy, she was only started on the root stim yday and no enzymes yet and she's not too far behind. I can see TP take the lead in the late veg-pre flower stage. Idk. But there's 2 major nutrients ADV plant is getting was 3 all week and then I added La Calavera (ANs voodoo juice) last night. Going to be running another AN/TP grow this time I'm not only going to match Nute for nute but the same time and ML/ML will be given also. Check out CBD CA for results. 6/20 Just water every other day No issues

First day in Flower! It's been... very interesting 2 weeks.. now that I survived tha, im having some lockout due to being unable to take care of my plants for the past 5 days and someone having no idea had to do the job, I'm not afraid of showing these mistakes I'm always looking forward to the outcome so I'm still having some hopes for this og kush, not everything here went as planned and that's why I want to focus on finishing up the grow and starting new ones, better ones as soon as possible, I will definitely never grow autos again as I'm just not a fan of them having to be on 18/6 schedule and I like having co trolley over my plants as sometimes things can go wrong. Og kush had a lockout after flush it grew beautiful but still ate up some of the upper leaves. Runtz.. yeah I like him he is a beautiful little bonsai he didn't get lockout too much but also did I'm looking forward to seeting the stretch on him if it so happens. Cherry gusher, a tiny pheno I got this time I'm looking forward to growing 4 next time and hunt down a pheno. They say outdoors you have to play with God and indoor you try to play God.. we are not perfect and that's why I'm looking forward to the finish line. Will i scrog? I have the net setup but I'm not sure if I will get enough stretch. Day 3 I noticed some light white spots on bottom leaves of the plant after a flush I did recently, I diagnose this as magnese or magnesium deficiency, I'm going to up the cal mag to 8 ml and a+b to 10ml per 5 L of water along with additives extra 0.5 ml just as a touch up. Also I noticed we are at 47cm at the tallest branch after topping and lst and this thing is an absolute bush.. I could probably hide behind it if I was a kid playing hide and seek!.

Well, beside the root rot from week 11 it was looking really good. Then I thought I lost the plant from the rot. I managed to semi salvage what you see in pictures. It smells great, looks nice and frosty. I imagine it will be a good smoke just I don't have a bunch of it. The Medic Grow mini Sun-2, and the Gen 1:11 nutrition both work excellent. This mess up was my fault and keeping proper maintaining of roots, temp, and solution mix. I will get it dried and processed. I am looking forward to the smoke report testing. All in all this is an awesome strain for relaxing after my 12 hour shifts,I smoke 1 or 2 hits and im so high all I wanna do is eat and lie down and watch TV until I fall asleep ,I am pretty sure she hermed on me because I had my light intensity too high (90-100% @ 850-1000ppfd at the canopy) but I didn't notice until it was too late so I turned all my lights down to 50% and I am hitting around 6-700 ppfd at the canopy which is perfect and I haven't had any balls show up on any of the new plants in my 8x4 tent check out wicked genetics he is doing some absolutely amazing work with his gp,i95,chem and OG crosses plus many many more ,I have grown and harvested 5 different strains and all have been progressively getting better and better with the more beans I

To push the pest resistance test even further (so far, the plants have shown resilience against fungus gnats, thrips, and excessive humidity), it’s getting too risky to allow the gnats to continue affecting my roots. As a test, I sieved fine sand from my garden and spread it over the soil to eliminate the gnats' living space. I gave the plants a good watering before applying the sand, and now I’ll leave it like this for a week. By the end of the week, I plan to repot them anyway, so we’ll see if this method clears up the gnat problem.
