Week 02 Introduction This week has been a bit of a struggle. Had my first experience dealing with slime and brown algae. But I think adding enzymes and increasing the beneficial bacteria helped to fix the issue. Also experienced nutrient burn for the first time. My nutrient solution strength got as high as 671 PPMs. So backed it down to about 430 PPMs during the end-of-week reservoir change. Also cut Hydroguard (expired?), CaliMagic, and Superthrive from this grow. Now she's still stunted, but is starting to recover. Hopefully... [START OF WEEK 02] Day 01 - Monday - 08/10/20 - Total Days: 008 ----------------------------------- - [0830]: Still looks a bit yellow. But getting larger! --- Solution strength was at 248 PPMs. --- Just topped off with a bit of distilled water --- PH went up to 6.1 so PH'd down to 5.8 --- Ran the top feed for a bit to wet the hydroton. - [2130]: She's looking even more yellow now. --- Even the new leaves are really yellow. --- Decided to add more base nutes. --- Added 4ml of Sensi A --- Added 4ml of Sensi B --- Now at about --- Solution Strength went up to 304 PPM. --- PH was at 6, --- Also raised the water level a bit more. --- I really hope it's a nutrient deficiency and not an over-watering issue. --- Please live! Day 02 - Tuesday - 08/11/20 - Total Days: 009 ----------------------------------- - [0830]: Looking less droopy. But still yellow. --- Decided to do a reservoir change. --- 4.5gal of distilled water --- 8ml of Sensi Grow A --- 8ml of Sensi Grow B --- 8ml of Voodoo Juice --- 4ml of B-52 --- 4ml of CaliMagic --- 4ml of Hydroguard --- 4 drops of Superthrive --- PH'd down to 5.8 --- Solution strength: 302 PPM --- Since I didn't want to risk over-watering the rockwool, I did not to do a top feed, may do one tonight after the sleep cycle (lights are still set to go off at 10am and back on at 4pm). --- As I was doing a reservoir change, I noticed that the tubes and bucket were a bit slimy. Didn't really stink or anything. Is this normal? Maybe due to the Hydroguard and Voodoo Juice? --- I hope she gets better soon! - [2215]: Getting larger! But still yellow. --- Also can see a root growing through the net pot! Tiny little thing but it's there! Will have to start dropping water once more appear. --- After looking over a few DWC diaries using AN nutes, seems like my solution strength is still too low. Most around this stage average around 500 PPMs with about 4ml per gallon. --- Top fed for a minute to wet the top of the hydroton. --- Solution strength went down to 263 PPM. --- Added 8ml more of Sensi A --- Added 8ml more of Sensi B --- Now base nutes are at 16ml for 4.5 gal of water. --- PPMs went up to 411. --- Still lower than 500 PPMs, but that's okay. --- PH was at 6. Not sure if I should adjust PH using AN nutes. So going to not ajdust unless PH goes above 6.1. Day 03 - Wednesday - 08/12/20 - Total Days: 010 ----------------------------------- - [0830]: Looks like more root growth! --- She still looks yellow. But leaves are perky. --- PH was at 6.2 so lowered down to 5.8. --- Solution strength was at 394 PPMs --- Since roots are still growing, I decide to lower the water level a bit. Now water level is a bit below the net pot. - [2200]: Root is getting longer! --- Slime is returning. Not sure why. --- Solution strength: 357 PPMs --- PH: 6.1 --- Decided to add an enzyme along with more beneficial bacteria to hopefully cure the slime. --- Added 16ml of Sensizym --- Added 5ml of Hydroguard --- Added 8ml of Voodoo Juice --- New solution strength: 430 PPMs --- New PH: 6.1 --- Top fed for a minute. --- This slimy residue is really freaking me out! I hope the added enzymes will help eliminate the slime. --- Going to do a full reservoir sterilization/nutrient change over the weekend. Please survive until then girl! Day 04 - Thursday - 08/13/20 - Total Days: 011 ----------------------------------- - [0930]: I think the enzymes worked! There is little to no slime now! --- Although I think the root was also dissolved in the process. It's now just a little stub sticking just below the net pot. The enzyme is also suppose to dissolved dead roots too but guess that root was too weak? Not sure what happened there. But I think the slime is cured! --- Solution strength went down to 395 PPMs. Decided to add more base nutrients. --- Added 8ml of Sensi A --- Added 8ml of Sensi B --- Added 4ml of B-52 --- Solution strength went up to 598 PPMs. --- PH was at 6.1 --- As long as the PH is between 5.5 and 6.3, I'm not going to use PH Up or Down. But still will monitor PH levels. - [1715]: Checked up on her after her nap and shes looking alive but stunted. But no slime! --- Decided to add some sugars to help maintain the enzymes and beneficial bacteria. --- Solution strength was at 587 PPMs. --- PH was at 6.2 --- Added 8ml of Bud Candy --- Solution strength went up to 671 PPMs. --- PH also went up to 6.3 --- Lowered water level a bit to hopefully promote more root growth. --- Top fed for a minute. --- She is getting bigger, but still looks yellow. Day 05 - Friday - 08/14/20 - Total Days: 012 ----------------------------------- - [0915]: Leaves look a little burnt on the tips. Still no slime. --- Going to back off on the PPMs to hopefully fix the nutrient toxicity. --- Solution strength was at 632 PPMs --- PH was at 6.3 --- Added/Removed water until PPMs were at 536. --- PH was still at 6.3 --- Raised water up a bit, then top fed for a minute. - [2200]: Looking better. Still yellow though. --- Solution strength: 514 PPMs --- PH: 6.5 --- Added PH down. --- New solution strength: 518 PPMs --- New PH: 5.2 --- PH was kind of high. So decided to PH down. Had to use quite a bit to bring it down. But eventually got it to drop down to 5.3. A little low, but so far, the PH has always gone up so wanted to start it really low. --- Ran the top feed for a minute to re-saturate the top of the hydroton. Day 06 - Saturday - 08/15/20 - Total Days: 013 ----------------------------------- - [0830]: She looks stunted. leaves are still yellow. --- Solution strength: 514 PPMs --- PH: 5.6 --- Top fed for a minute. --- Not sure what to do at this point. Going to do another reservoir change soon. Hoping she lives until then. - [2145]: Looking pretty much the same. --- A bit of slime has returned. Since I've been diluting the nutrient solution, the enzyme ratio has dropped. So I guess this is expected. --- Also noticed that slime build up was on the air-stones. Never really checked the stones so not sure how long that has been there. Looks brown too, which can't be good. --- Going to do an H202 sterilization of the system (minus the net pot) tomorrow so did not add anything. --- Lowered the water level to below the net pot. --- Then top fed for a minute. Day 07 - Sunday - 08/16/20 - Total Days: 014 ----------------------------------- - [0900]: STERILIZATION DAY! --- Decided to skip today's night cycle for a deep clean. --- I'm hoping that skipping a night cycle won't be too stressful. --- Temporarily moved her to a new bucket. --- Used about a half of gallon of straight distilled water to flush out the net pot. --- Drained the system and wiped up all the brown sludge. Also removed the air stones and cleaned up all the goo. --- Filled the system with 2 gallons of distilled water and at least 30ml of food grade hydrogen peroxide (35% strength). --- Yea its a lot, but since I'm not going to sterilize the system overnight, I went with a really high doseage. Basically I kept adding until I started to see little bubbles start to form. --- Then I ran the water pump. - [0915]: Boiled the air stones in tap water for about 10 min. Then reconnected them to the airlines. --- I let the air stones and hose soak in the sterilization solution for about 5 minutes so the peroxide can absorb into the stones. Then ran the air stone to help mix and agitate the solution. --- Occasionally, I'd repeat the process of turning the air pump off for a few minutes to let the stones soak. - [1000]: Covered the top two row of holes of the net pot with some aluminum tape. Hopefully this solves the light leaking in through the hydroton. - [1200]: Used an old toothbrush and scrubbed the pump clean. Then drained the system. --- Refilled with more distilled water and peroxide. Again added a lot. --- Ran system again to sterilize even more. - [1530]: Drained the system and refilled with distilled water to rinse. --- Ran the system for a few minutes, then drained and rinsed again. --- Did this a few more times over about an hour. - [1630]: Added 4 gallons of fresh distilled water. --- Added 15ml Sensi Grow A --- Added 15ml Sensi Grow B --- Added 12ml of B-52 --- Added 16ml of Voodoo Juice --- Added 16ml Sensizym --- Solution strength was at 430 PPMs --- PH was at 5.6 --- I was going to add Hydroguard, but I think the bottle is expired. Since 2017 or 2018!? I think Hydroguard is good for up to 2 years from the date on the bottle or 6 months after opening. So not going to use from now on. I wonder if this could have contributed to the slime build up. --- Also removed the CaliMagic and Superthrive too. Going to only use AN products to eliminate the chance of incompatible nutrients. --- Placed her back in the bucket and top fed for a minute. --- Here's hoping for the best. 09/06/2018 She has grow a little😀 bit,going to 1/2 strength nutes in res change today. Can't believe how thick her stem is! Had slight leaf tip burn from ferts but not enough to be concerned about. Started week with 9 liters in DWC bucket. Will top as needed with plain water. . Note: remember rinse hydroton! 09/10/2018 Getting nice growth this week,a little more leaf tip burn,but not excessive amount,also I topped her today I believe that I will go to 3/4strength next change and full strength for flowering.which is when I bring red spectrum up to 100%.

Slowly fattening up. Turn out to be a pretty big auto 43” tall. Vegged for 2.5 months roughly i was starting to think it was a photoperiod plant. Hopefully i have to hold them up to keep them from breaking.

⬇️⬇️⬇️Very Eventful Week⬇️⬇️⬇️ -7/26: Started new batch of nutes for this week. Mixed nutes in gallon jug of water. Poured half in half gallon jug and topped off rez a little over second line. Hopefully she is able to take everything in after what happened yesterday. She is showing good signs of hope. Had to pluck part of a leaf that shriveled up and died. That’s the only shock that I’ve seen her take as of yet. Fingers crossed. -7/27: She is still thriving! Day 2 from accident and only 1 fan leaf died off. She is starting to give off that funk! 😝 -7/28: She is still thriving! Did some more “very light” LST today. Wanted to bush her out more after her boom last night! She took off. Seems like she had a blast off moment listening to Kid Cudi with me last night!!😁😁. Fed her the remaining nutes from this weeks feeding on Monday. Filled rez back to a little over 2nd line. Roots showing peaking out bottom of bag today. I seen a couple actually! Next week will start filling reservoir to 3rd line which is 6 gallons.😈. My girl said she smelt them today when I opened the tent for my 4:20 maintenance lol

It was a busy week full of events. I got them a 600 watts HPS light and microbes to help them grow faster. I finally started the trellis netting to even the canopy and get more from the lights and I also spray the plants again for bugs. I found out that I've been using powder nutrients on my reservoir and that's probably why I've been getting floods two or tree times a week and now the valve is open only when I'm there, because I'm sick of cleaning and I took that little sick plant out. My cats have her now.

Es ist mittlerweile Tag 72 seit Beginn der Vegetation und Tag 42 der Blüte. Die Ladies sehen reier aus als sie sind, ich vermute durhc den Mangel an Stickstoff läuft es etwas anders ab als 100% ideal. Der Duft steigert sich schön weiter. Das Blueberry Aroma ist wirklich sehr intensiv. Da ich eine Woche ausser Haus war wurde ordentlich bewässert und dzau eine Wifi fähige Tropfbewässerung installiert. Schön, wenn man aus der Ferne die Bewässerung steuern und sehen kannn ob sie läuft. Und jetzt kommen wir zu meiner Unachtsamkeit deluxe ...die Pumpe hat eine richtig schöne grüne LED für die Anzeige der Spannungsversorgung ! ist mir per Zufall heute aufgefallen, als ich 2 min nach Einbruch der Dunkelphase kurz das Zelt öffnete. Mir ist ganz anders geworden als ich gesehen habe wie hell die LED im Zelt war! Ich hoffe ich habe jetzt keine Zwitterei getriggert, der Zustand war jetzt genau eine Woche gegeben. Immerhin, es ist eine grüne LED, hoffe sehr dass es nicht die run versaut hat. Es ist recht kurz vor Ende, noch 3 -4 Wochen bis zur Ernte schätz ich. Ich bin jetzt auf meine Spiegelreflex Kamera gewechselt, wie man sieht muss ich aber damit noch üben, man möge bitte Geduld haben bis die Fotos von den Settings top sind. Ich mag jetzt nicht ewig am Stück rumtesten, dafür duftet es dann doch schon zu stark. :)

🚂 8×8 Adventure – Week 14 🌸 Cash Express – Pheno A 💚 The Main Cola Is Gone, But This Girl Is Still Full Speed Ahead! Welcome back to another chapter of the 8×8 Adventure! 🌱💚 Well, my friends... Let's start with the elephant in the room. Or, in this case... the missing main cola. 😂💔🌸 Yes, we lost her. And no matter how many times I say it, it doesn't make it any less of a bummer. She was a beautiful cola, and losing her was definitely not part of the plan. But you know what? We're still here. Cash Express is still here. The remaining flowers are still developing. And this girl? She's still moving FAST! 🚂💨💚 That's one of the things that stands out when I look at her alongside the rest of the room. Unlike our Blueberry Muffin sisters, who seem perfectly comfortable taking the scenic route, Cash Express is continuing to move forward at a much quicker pace. She's developing. She's changing. She's getting on with her own journey. And although losing that main cola hurt, I'm not going to let one unfortunate chapter overshadow everything else this girl has going for her. We acknowledge what happened. We learn from it. We keep observing the remaining flowers. And we continue documenting her journey honestly. Because this is the 8×8 Adventure. Not every week is perfect. Not every flower makes it to the finish. But every chapter has something to teach us. So let's put a smile back on our faces, give this girl the spotlight she deserves, and appreciate what she's still showing us. 🚂🌸✨ ──────────────────────── 💚 THE MAIN COLA IS GONE — BUT CASH EXPRESS IS STILL HERE Let's get this out of the way first. Yes, we lost the main cola to bud rot. And yes, it was a bummer. A big one. 😂💔 When you've spent weeks watching a plant develop, photographing her, documenting her changes, and looking forward to seeing how everything turns out, losing one of the major flowers is frustrating. There's no point pretending otherwise. But growing is not a perfectly scripted journey. Sometimes something goes wrong. Sometimes we have to remove part of a plant. And sometimes the best thing we can do is accept what happened and focus on what remains. That's where we are now. The affected main cola was removed, and we're continuing to observe the remaining flowers. We're not going to pretend the loss didn't happen. We're also not going to let it define the entire plant. Because Cash Express Pheno A still has her own structure, her own flowers, and her own story to tell. The main cola was one chapter. It wasn't the whole book. 🚂💚 ──────────────────────── 🚂 FULL SPEED AHEAD — THIS GIRL IS STILL MOVING! And this is where Cash Express really starts to separate herself from some of the slower plants in the room. She's moving. She's progressing. She's continuing her journey without waiting for everybody else to catch up. 😂💨 We've seen a very different rhythm from the Blueberry Muffin sisters. Those girls are beautiful, but they're taking their time. Cash Express? She seems to have somewhere to be. And apparently, she's already late. 😂🚂💨 The difference is fascinating because we're watching these plants share the same general room environment while expressing very different patterns of development. The same calendar doesn't mean the same biological timetable. Some plants progress more quickly. Some develop more slowly. And some seem to change noticeably every time we return with the camera. Cash Express belongs firmly in that last category. Even after losing her main cola, she's still giving us plenty to observe. She's still moving forward. And that's what I want to celebrate this week. ──────────────────────── 🌸 LET'S FOCUS ON WHAT REMAINS It's easy to keep thinking about the flower we lost. I get it. I do it too. But if we spend the entire report looking backward, we miss what's happening right in front of us. And there's still plenty happening. The remaining flowers have their own structure and character. The plant is continuing to develop, and we're following that progression through the photographs. This is why I want to keep documenting her individually. Because Cash Express Pheno A is more than the one flower we had to remove. She's a complete plant with a whole collection of flowering sites, and the rest of her journey deserves attention too. So let's turn the camera toward what remains. Let's appreciate the flowers that are still here. Let's keep observing. The Future of Grow Black Series LEDs continue providing the main lighting, with the two additional Black Series 600W fixtures supplied for this experiment remaining part of the upgraded setup. After introducing those extra fixtures, we reduced the output to approximately 59% from the plug rather than simply running everything at maximum. Our working reference remains around: ☀️ Approximately 1,500 PPFD across the upper canopy. Actual intensity varies with plant height and position, so this is an upper-canopy reference rather than a claim that every flower receives exactly the same intensity. And Cash Express? She's continuing her journey under the same general lighting environment as the rest of the room. Same artificial sun. Same general setup. Different genetic expression. This is one of the most interesting parts of following multiple plants together. We can provide a shared environment, but we shouldn't expect every plant to respond in exactly the same way. The lighting is one part of the picture. The plant's genetics, physiology, developmental stage, and overall condition also matter. Now, let's talk about the extra 15 minutes of red light after the main lighting period. We're including this in our lighting routine and documenting it as part of the setup we're exploring. But I want to explain the science properly, because red light, far-red light, and the transition into darkness are related topics — not interchangeable ones. Plants have photoreceptors that help them interpret their light environment. One important group is the phytochromes, which respond to red and far-red wavelengths. These photoreceptors can help plants detect changes in light conditions and participate in signalling processes associated with development and environmental responses. Red and far-red light can influence plant responses in different ways, depending on the spectrum, intensity, duration, timing, and surrounding conditions. That's the interesting part. However, a 15-minute red-light period after the main lights switch off should not automatically be described as a proven way to improve flowering, increase yield, or help every plant transition into darkness. Those outcomes depend on the actual conditions and the response being measured. For this run, we're documenting the treatment we're using rather than promising a result we haven't established. And that distinction matters. We're growers, but we're also observers. It's perfectly fine to explore an idea while remaining honest about what the evidence does and doesn't tell us. ❤️💡🌱 ──────────────────────── 🔬 QUICK SCIENCE BREAK — THE EMERSON EFFECT Since we're talking about light, let's take a little detour into photosynthesis. The Emerson effect is a real phenomenon discovered through experiments investigating how plants use different wavelengths of light. In simplified terms, researchers observed that photosynthetic activity could increase when certain red and far-red wavelengths were supplied together, beyond what would be expected from their individual effects under the conditions studied. Why is that important? Because photosynthesis involves two cooperating photosystems: 🌿 Photosystem II (PSII) 🌿 Photosystem I (PSI) Both participate in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis, helping drive the processes involved in converting light energy into chemical energy. Different wavelengths can contribute differently to the activity of these systems. Under suitable conditions, combining wavelengths can improve their overall cooperation and increase photosynthetic performance. That's the fascinating science behind the Emerson effect. But here's the important distinction: The Emerson effect is not simply another name for adding 15 minutes of red light at the end of the day. The classic effect concerns photosynthetic responses under particular illumination conditions. An end-of-day red-light treatment is a different lighting situation, and we shouldn't assume that it automatically reproduces the same effect. The actual spectrum matters. The intensity matters. The timing matters. And the biological response matters. So, yes, the Emerson effect is a fascinating part of plant science. But we're not going to claim that our short red-light period triggers it or guarantees a better result. We're documenting the setup, learning about the science, and keeping our conclusions grounded. That's how I prefer to approach these things. Curiosity first. Observation second. Claims only when the evidence supports them. 🔬🌱💡 ──────────────────────── 🌙 RED LIGHT AND THE DARK PERIOD — A USEFUL DISTINCTION One more thing worth clarifying. A plant's response to light isn't determined by colour alone. Photoreceptors respond to particular wavelength ranges, and the plant's overall response depends on how those signals interact with its environment and internal biological processes. Red light and far-red light are not the same. A red-light treatment after the main lighting period is not automatically equivalent to a far-red treatment, nor does it guarantee a particular response to the following dark period. Our main lighting schedule remains 12/12, with the additional 15-minute red-light period recorded separately. We're keeping that distinction clear in our reports because understanding what we're actually doing is more useful than repeating a claim without explaining it. And if we learn something interesting from the experiment, we'll have our observations to look back on. Cash Express is continuing to progress, and that's what we're documenting. ──────────────────────── ✂️ NO NEED TO INVENT MORE WORK After dealing with the affected main cola, there's no reason to turn this into a week of unnecessary intervention. The important thing was to address the affected flower and continue paying attention to the remaining plant. Now we're observing. We're documenting. We're keeping an eye on the remaining flowers. And we're allowing the plant to continue her journey. Sometimes growing requires action. Sometimes it requires patience. And sometimes it requires accepting that something happened, dealing with it, and moving on without making the situation bigger than it needs to be. 😂🌿 Cash Express has already had her unfortunate moment. Now let's give the rest of her story some room. ──────────────────────── 📸 THE CAMERA IS STILL COMING OUT One thing I don't want to change is our commitment to documenting the plants properly. These photographs become a record of what happened during the run. They let us look back at the flowers, compare different stages, and remember how the plants developed. And in this case, they also help us document a less-than-perfect moment honestly. The missing main cola is part of the record. So are the remaining flowers. Both matter. Because a grow diary shouldn't only show the moments when everything looks fantastic. It should show the journey. The good. The bad. The unexpected. And the things we learn along the way. Well week 15 and 5th week of flower started yesterday, 9/12. I did a little more defoliation over the weekend, maybe cut 20 leaves altogether. Everything is still looking good. Temps are good, rh is good, airflow is definitely good. And judging by the frosty trichs that are showing I'd say everything is right on schedule. Starting to get more smell. That's about it for now. Vamos familia que ya actualizamos la cosecha de estas Frosted Guava de Zamnesia. Vaya flores que se han marcado repletas de tricomas, parecen escarcha y las flores se marcan aromas muy tropicales, la verdad que únicos. Es una variedad bastante fácil de cultivar pero al tener un periodo de floración algo más largo, hay que estar pendiente de alimentarlas bien, gracias Agrobeta en mi sala es posible. Temperaturas máximas en 24 y mínimas en 20 y una humedad estable en torno al 36%. Las mantuve 10 semanas pero facilmente si se quedan 11 tampoco estaría mal, yo las vi bien maduras y ya tenía tricomas ambar así que les di matarile. Defoliated all around tops to bring the main canopy of fan leaves below this (at strip level). Hoping this results in light reaching all parts of all available bud sites. Fingers crossed! This girl is a beast. I've read this strain can be problematic but I've not noticed any issues whatsoever. Been an absolute beauty to grow and I hope she turns out good in all aspects as I'll be preserving the pheno if so.

Day 21 Looking great so far starting to focus on bud development stretch seems completed Day 26 She seems happy with the new mars hydro 4800 evo 2024 model. Odd but cool spots of bright orange hairs on random bud sites with this one.

31.12.24: I have been readjusting the LST pegs and wire daily. Sometimes, twice a day! (I know, too much time on my hands)! 😆 The plants have responded fantastically! I'm so glad I gave it a go. Some plants have been a bit too tall, and I snapped Do-sì-dos P3, pulling the stem down. Audibly snapped 😬I let it be, though. It seems to have healed mostly, in only 2 days. I have increased the lighting to 70%. They're getting watered a few times a week, with 1 litre of Dechlorinated water, containing the following nutrients and additives; 1ml of Biobizz Bio-Grow, 1ml Biobizz Top Max, 1ml of Biobizz Bloom, 2ml of cal-mag, 1g of Ecothrive Biosys. The plants are responding well to this concoction, so it's all good so far. The leaves are looking greener and are getting darker. Will be monitoring to continue readjusting the LST ties. Also, to monitor the increased lighting level, to make sure they can handle that yet. 1.1.25: Happy New Year! I have continued to readjust the LST wire and plant pegs. Several times a day. Coincidence would have it, I have a 6ft tropical aquarium which was time for cleaning! I always water my Acer tree in the front yard with this water, with beautiful results 😍 👌 🍁 I decided to try it out in my indoor garden. I'll post photos of before and after to see the difference, good or bad 😅 3.1.25: Plants are doing very well, except for PPP3 I'm quite disappointed in that one, as I feel like it's wasting a space. I guess I'll have to keep it, along with the Do-sì-dos that I snapped twice, which refuses to die 😅 I started to lightly defoliate, which is difficult because I always get carried away with it. I'm going to water again with the nutrients in description of this week. 4.1.25: Continuing to defoliate and adjust the LST pegs and wire. Watered today with 1ltr of dechlorinated water PH'd to 6.0. With the following nutrients;- 2ml Biobizz Bloom, 4ml Biobizz Bio-Grow, 2ml Cal-Mag, 2ml Ecothrive Flourish, 0.2 g/ltr of Ecothrive Biosys. I've increased the Nitrogen by adding double the amount of Biobizz Bio-Grow. I'm trying to keep them growing for as long as possible!
