Greeting ladies and genitals and welcome to my first ever grow diary.
Second time grower and very much amateur.
I got 3 x seeds of Girl Scout Cookies as I’ve wanted to try that type since hearing so many people discussing how great it is, and 1x Jack Herrer as I’ve good memories of smoking this smooth sexy green way back.
Going by advice from my local grow shop I decided to opt for coir pellets after the paper towel method.
After some tense moments wondering if they’d all germinate properly they have and now are fighting for first place busting out of the coir pellets.
The transition from the paper towel to the coir pellets was good enough. The only thing is that for the 1 Jack Herrer sees it took the longest to sprout from the shell @ 2 and a half days. The other were out before then.
When I put the seeds in the coir pellets and into the tent I started the light schedule at 18/6.
Jack Herrer looks like a bit of a helmet head but I sprayed it at the top to hopefully soften the shell and expect it will drop off by end of day tomorrow.
It’s been 5 days so far and looking pretty good so far.
Seedlings looking pretty good. I got some 8cm small fibre pots from the local garden centre as the only other ones I have are 2 lt plastic pots so thought they're slightly too big for first plant in medium.
Opted to put them back into the propagator but not 100% sure if I should instead leave them out in the open where the humidity is only around 50%. Since they're seedlings still though I guess its better to leave them in the propagor.
Today i changed the light from Mars Hydro300W classic to MH TS1000. Can tell straight away its much brighter and more like the sun. Hopefully it’ll be better and they grow strong!
Ive had the ladies in their 2 litre fibre pots and been watering a bit more now that they’re out of the propagator since 3 days ago. Actually i took them out late i suppose, and maybe the reason one of them has splotches is because of the high humidity of those couple of nights i thought it would be ok without the extraction fan for a few hours, however the ranges were going from like 90-70 or something. Anyway they’re big enough now to be outside on their own.
Might be a bit late to start nutrients but going to pick some up on the weekend and start them off on Biobizz standard nutrient.
Got to be watering more than i have as today noticed on 2 of them the leaves were drooping. Think they should be watered twice and around 75ml per plant but still getting used to these fibre pots that dry out quickly. Last thing i want is to screw it up early and lose any of these precious babies.
Going to ask a couple questions to clear up some queries i got.
Till next week...
Well these ladies were pretty stressed from my rookie mistake of not ensuring the humidity was at the acceptable levels. Its constant enough now from 23-26.5 degrees and with a healthy humidity of 55% aided by a diffuser.
They were wilted from over-watering but think i got the knack of watering now and gotta be stricter on letting the soil dry out before giving lore water. Thankfully they seem to responding positively as they’re standing up more although a bit yellow on some of the tips. Hold strong my pretties! Lets do this...
Evening ladies and genitals, this week is amazingly better than the last few weeks.
Reasons are:
1. i upgraded the fan in my grow tent. Its tall and oscillates.
2. I’ve figured out how to get the vapor from the humidifier directly into the tent as you can see in the video. As the extraction fan is running 24/7 it pulls in the air from the only open air intake hole pulling in the vapor.
3. I repotted from the teeny tiny pots into 2 litre pots with Sohum Living Soil. So I've upgraded the soil type. For a beginner like me this releases a lot of internal pressure from worrying about the nutrient deficiencies.
With all that said the ladies have responded great. I’ve started to weigh each pot to guage how much water is being evaporated so i dont overwater.
Some issues remain on the leaves from my previous overwatering but I’ve learnt that the damaged leaves will stay damaged. You can see the tips are hella bent in 1 pic at the ends. Hopefully it will be OK for the new leaves at least. I cut off damaged leaves on 2 of the girls but left the others. I want to see what happens when they are left to grow naturally and mindful of the fact that if defoliating at not the right intervals will stunt their growth . I will do LST but at the moment i cant cause they're not really big enough yet.
Till next time, peace out. 420 right around the corner!
They started the week off strong but then looked drooping even though i was watering them. Also had some brown spots starting to appear on a couple of leaves. Ive diagnosed it as Calmag deficiency. First chance i had to add Calmag to my water I've done that today.
Also have topped each one this morning as maybe in 2 weeks time ill be flipping them.
Started a second round of LST a few days ago and realised that i needed to move the ladies to their final pots at least a week before flipping them so decided to move them today regardless.
It was a challenge! The first time i grew i had even less knowledge of what to do and if memory serves me right i used 4 litre pots as final pots!
This time I'm using 3gallon (11.4 litre) pots. Only on one of them did i mistakenly rip a few of the ends off the roots, the others were fine. Moved the light to slightly less distance away. Used the rest of the Sohum living soil and ran out so made a mix of Biobizz light mix and Sohum for the last bit of one. Planning to resume LST tomorrow and give them a nights rest, hopefully they all look healthy enough to start it again.
Afternoon ladies and genitals, happy to report a milestone today of the last day of vegetation!
Didnt realise it until measuring now but these ladies have really grown up in the last week standing at on average 21 cm’s.
Ive noticed a bit of clawing on the leaves after watering so going to attempt using slightly less water than the 600ml or so each per plant the last couple of times.
Apart from this no issues. Have set the timer now to 12/12 starting from tonight. Next week will be the first of flowering - hallelujah, inshallah or whatever phrase you use! Me i like to thank the big ball of fire that is the Sun God hahah.
First week of flowering over. There’s a big difference in the height of my plants.
The Jack Herer is 28cm.
The 3 GSC’s range from 18 -25.
2 of the GSC’s were not defoliated. The tallest and healthiest looking one was defoliated. Its my test to see what works. So far looks like i should have defoliated all 3 of them. 2 are super bushy. What do you think?
Rhetorical question as I know this isn't the place to do that but feel free to comment if you have an opinion, cheers!
Howdy dowdy!
They’re getting along pretty well. No complaints really. Did some more work on LST. Turns out this is the max space width wise i can handle with the 60x60 tent.
Few of the leaves are pointing upwards slightly. Have to research that to see whats up.
Alrighty!
Some lower leaves are yellow and falling off, hut i think that is normal.
Only added a bit of CALMAG to the water twice as that is the only thing that Sohum living soils suggests.
Hoping that the buds will swell a but more. Turns out the buds on the GSC that i didnt top look the best so far...
Not sure if Jack Herer is how it should look at this stage. Just cant wait to harvest ;-)
So i pruned the GSC that i defoliated on 28/04.
Took away the small stems with small buds forming in the hope that the energy of the plant will transfer to the bigger buds. Lets see how it compares to the others in the end.
Im struggling with keeping the humidity down right after watering. I just got a small cheap enough dehumidifier the other day and its running outside the 60x60 tent as there is no space to out it inside. Its probably making very little difference. Right now after watering this morning its at 50% humidity. Gotta sort some other solution for next grow whether its a bigger tent, or investing in some kind of climate control system.
Ahoy ahoy germs!
They’re growing. Buds look better from week to week. This is now 5 weeks in flowering.
2 of the GSC’s were showing signs of a likely nitrogen deficiency so i added BioBizz Bloom to the water yesterday and will continue to do that for the next few weeks until flashing them. Its got N in it so probably fine.
Fair dinkum!
Still adding the nutes. GSC Sensei Seeds says its ready in 9-10 weeks so ill flush from the 7 and a half week mark.
Ill try having a look at those trichomes to gauge if they’re turning milky also.
Too easy mate.
Afternoon ladies and genitals,
This week some of the buds were starting to fall over so i went out and got sticks to help them prop up correctly. I broke a branch by mistake so i cut it off as a bonus to try out the smoke in a few days.
I stopped all nutrients already. They’ve been in flower for 7 weeks today. Will probably give them all another 2 weeks before chopping them down. That would make it 9 weeks altogether. Not really sure if i can chop 1 and leave the others if one is ready before then, will have to give it some thought.
Oh and there’s light discolouration at some tips. Posting up a question about that now.
So today is week 8 of 🌸.
I was nearly going to chop one of them where i saw some brown trichomes but with the help of this great community through questions i’ve decided to wait a few days. Besides i too a bud from it a few days ago and sampling it now. A bit harsh cause its been quick dried but does the job.
Nearly at the finish line. Happy growing and smoking every 🤪😉😘
Howdy doody folkeroonies!
decided to chop the one which was showing some brown trichomes. Glad i did as finally have enough room in the grow tent without everything squishing together!
I’ve got it drying in a box. Not sure if no airflow is an issue, I've asked this in Questions.
One of the GSC’s is a little purple, brown. So nice looking and fat buds too!!
Going away for 2 nights so planning on flushing all tomorrow morning before heading off. 1 plant chopped, 3 left to go. Probably another 2 weeks max before they’re all chopped.
So the first of 3 GSC’s i cut a week earlier than the rest. I think this one is a bit more of a trippy head high compared with the others. The greatest thing is the colours. There’s orange, purple and green obviously!
The GCS was not as sturdy as Jack Herer although there were no major issues. The most difficult thing was giving it enough water. Also when i harvested i noticed that the roots didnt go anywhere near the bottom of the 13l smart pots. Perhaps i will use root juice next time.
Javk Herer was a total trooper throughout vegetation and flowering.
It seemed no matter if i over watered or under watered it held up just fine!
The only thing is that perhaps i should have harvested earlier. The hairs all look totally dark 100% and the high is a bit more of a body/relaxed high.
Kinda explained this in the last post.
Big thanks to everyone who followed and commented on this diary.
Also to those who helped out with questions along the way.
Peace and love and happy growing/smoking.
Hey mate
Saw your humidity was at 50% personally I'd be happy with that, I try and keep mine between 45 and 55 if it drops below 40 I'd be trying to keep it steady.
Not sure if this will help it's just my experiences
Happy growing bro 💚

Stay Frosty
@Sk1nR,
Hey dude. Yea thanks for that. Amateur grower also. One thing I’ve thought about regarding humidity is where to get the reading from straight after watering.
I think it’s inaccurate when i get the reading from leaving the hygrometer on-top of the soil as the air would be saturated from the recent watering. Instead im taking it from a shaded position instead.
Thanks for the input 🌱
@DoDrugs420,
Thanks buddy. Update on the actual smoke: Jack Herer is true to its taste description and energetic too. So glad for it to grow, was so resistant and always looked perky!
I see no problem with your curing technic... ( i do it the same way).. aslong as you can spread the buds.
just check them daily, and avoid bright sunshine on them
@Mrs_Larimar,
Havent they just!
One of the GSC’s is purple as well. Thats the biggest one. Its got massive buds Can wait to rake harvest pics properly!!
