WE ARE BACK IN ACTION (with some upgrades this time) and experience! FIRSTLY this is a HYBRID Outdoor/Indoor Grow Outside during the day, tent and light at night Cost saving and nothing beats some good ol outdoor natural goodness along with extras at night to make the most of it all If you have followed my previous diaries my aim is always to try and stay as natural as possible but I cannot that a tent and lights do good work Currently at night I am using a 75W Custom built Seedling/Veg Light (Hyundai light bracket with full spectrum marine bulbs) SECONDLY We have new soil! Soil that has been tried and tested by many others - Freedom Farms Premium Organic Absolutely loving the new soil, even under the microscope... It is airy, I can see the organic additions very well (check photos for ingredients) The soil does not require any nutrients for the first five weeks.... but I do like Ecobuzz so I added some Rootpro to all my new seedlings. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Back to this specific plant First time using jiffy/peat pellets for germination, I will never eve look back. It is really such a simple way of doing things 24 hours in water then into the jiffy pellet once sprouted i pushed her into her new forever home done and dusted --------------------------------------------------------------------- Watering I am still doing manually and by the eye Misting a little bit when things have been dry for a while has been doing well, each plant requires different amounts... we will work with that --------------------------------------------------------------------- She has stretched a little but I have now fixed that by adjusting my night light a bit During the day she is in my garden room with semi transparent shading, with some decent sun and heat --------------------------------------------------------------------- That's all for now, trying to keep my diaries more simple this time around

Seedling looking great She stretched a little bit, but also starting to develop some side growth so.... she is still happy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Water and Nutes 150ml every time she seems thirsty Still misting most of the time, to avoid any overwatering Used the below once this week First Feed: to power up dat root growth baby Startgro: everything a young plant needs -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Weather We are going into autumn, so its nice to have constant low humidity for a change. Bit of a cold front the last few days, hoping it leaves soon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lights Night light has been upgraded to a 400w HPS - they seem to be enjoying it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These babie are growing so nicely :) the new soil I am using is still soft and fluffy and that makes me happy!! 😁 She also got a haircut! 😋 I decided to FIM this plant and see how it goes (I have two Sweet Gelatos growing, so I figured why not try with the older one and test) So a neat little chop and lets see how she recovers and grows this week. Stretching has stopped and all power going to the solar panels. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Upped water amount a little to 250ml per, just responding to the growth Still using early plant stage based nutes, they seem to be responding well The First Feed I will stop this week and look into adding some Silica as other growers suggested Startgro will continue for another while -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Cold front came through this week with some cold/wind/rain So having a light has helped for those days, hoping for the amazing autumn weather soon our city normally ha I really want them to be outside during the day -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Nothing noticeable yet Once this plant has recovered from the FIMing, I will start routine pesticides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently full steam ahead and things are looking sharp

So....... Did my attempt at FIM'ng work? I am not sure, there is quite a bit new growth at the spot I cut but not sure if i managed to get the split 😕 She has bounced back thats for sure, but I hope I did not set her back for nothing When all the new growth on the spot pushes out I will be able to evaluate further Aside from that she is healthy, kicking off her starter leaves and praising the sun all day SHE ALSO HAD A FRIEND COME VISIT HER TODAY She was visited by who I now call the 'Lucky Agama Lizard' today this plant was blessed by nature 😅 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Still sticking to 250ml water I have stopped using first feed nutes and will continue with startgrow till I see the first sign of preflower and then switch to multigro Blackstrap molasses and Silica coming into the mix soon -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 It has been a bit windier than I expect it this time of year Our autumn is incredible weather wise for water sports, not too hot and usually almost no wind Hoping it goes soon, so I can feel comfortable with small plants outside -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Nothing noticeable yet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- upwards and onwards

Nothing to crazy this week (It is still so strange from my last grow) 😂 Firstly, she is showing her pistols confirming herself as female 😀 and there are plenty so I take that as a good thing Secondly we had a few what seemed to be leave blemishes but I think I have nailed down the problem... keep reading I added a an indigenous carnivorous plant to the family Meet Augusto, the Sundew - destroyer of fungus gnats and other pests (picture in gallery) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Pumped up the watering quite a bit, she is growing quite quickly as more solar panels develope... lets make sure she has all the water she needs. So she is the complete opposite of the Zkittles plant, this one had a nitrogen deficiency it seems... So I made the switch over to the Multigro to give her a nice dose of nitrogen. Also Silica because everyone tells me I need it in my life and I have read so much good about it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Crises this wind just wont let up, early mornings and evenings is best but in between..... a bit wild for my liking -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Nothing noticeable yet but I did do a small neem spray just in case some little bastards thought they could make this plant their home --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week she shot out a bunch of Pistols 😁 lots of creamy pretty pistols End of her veg period with hardly a problem... stoked!! I may have stunted her a bit with my attempt at FIMng but so we learn, her younger sister was topped this week and looks like she is going to bounce back strong (added pic) She is growing quite fast now, and almost did 10cm up just this week with some stronger side growth also Augusto got a new home, he is catching food and has a friend!! I discovered there was a second plant kinda of hidden inside, VERY HAPPY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Oh she is thirsty now, demanding some fresh quality H20 almost every day Added some Blackstrap Molasses, this soil im using has supporting nutrients for the first five weeks, the Molasses should do enrich it a bit again and aid... I believe this is very much up for discussion but it seems to do well Last Silica being added to her as she goes into flowering I didn't add any of my normal nutrients this week: A) These don't have a schedule, you have to learn to read the plant and see if its deficient/toxic/happy. It does make it tough but one learns to get in tune with them B) She looked happy, leaves were green, supporting themselves and she is growing so I felt there was no need this week -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 A long cold front into what could be our first winter snow on the mountians honestly lovely weather when the sun is out, if this damn wind would just stop -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Ofcourse as this plant shoots pistols I would see some Spider Mites We will have the neem asap, tonight!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So not the best week I have had with my autos I have now realised that my nutes are way too strong to use recommended dosages for all plants on marijuana, this may also explain some of my past issues in other grows So even though it says i fed them 1ml/l this week... I will now be toning that down to maybe 0.5 or 0.25 per L The Nitrogen is absolutely hammering my plants.... and im currently flushing my ass off. (also patches on leaves in photos are from pest control) But back to this plant She didnt grow all that much this week... again see above, I hit them with a bit of toxicity and that will now stop She is flowering nicely, very similar size and shape to my sour diesel I grew in my previous diaries, I also think my failed attempt at fimming hampered her a bit. The second plant has done very well with topping and will be much bigger. She is also starting to smell very nice :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Like I mentioned above I kinda fucked up with over nuting them - its hard without a solid schedule but I am learning pumped up the watering amount also as she is flowering and thirsty Flushing seems to have done the job with her but the others are still struggling a bit 😟 NOTE TO SELF: Dont take everyone's advice, a shop owner told me regulate my PH with nitric acid.... NEVER FUCKING AGAIN (switched to apple cider vinegar) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 A long cold front into what could be our first winter snow on the mountains honestly lovely weather when the sun is out, if this damn wind would just stop (same as last week, no jokes) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 THRIPS!!!! LITTLE BASTARDS I noticed some wet spots on my leaves and decided to investigate, eventually I found one of the cheeky c@$nts and proceeded with Ecobuzz Pest Pro - No neem as flowering is upon us -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 This plant, no real training, except I am bending the bottom branches out a bit to get away from the shade of the canopy The other Sweet Gelato, the one I topped I am doing a Spiral sort of thing, getting the top branches down a bit to line up with bottom branches.... looking good

So I decided to add the photos and details of both my Sweet Gelatos to this Diary They both had different techniques done to them, one worked and one failed (so we learn) Plant 1) She is not growing that much anymore, bud her flowers are getting nice a fat, she looks to be short and sweeeeeeeeet 😀 The FIM I did clearly stunted her a bit, and that is just a fail on my part Plant 2) I was able to flush the Nitrogen out of the one plant which got hammered by my inexperience, impacted growth for a few days but she has come right This plant was topped and I have been bending her a lot, just making sure all her main branches get good light, so far so good She is going to be way bigger than Plant 01 Growing the same strain a few weeks apart is quite nice because I can see what works and what does not and then apply it to the second plant with confidence! Wife is apparently going to solve my nitrogen issue with some gifts....lets see -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Plant 1) Very thirsty like her friend the Zkilltes, 1.5l every second day or so Plant 2) Flushed mostly this week due to Nitrogen toxicity Nutes as you can see I toned down haaaaaaard, this ecobuzz is very rich Wife says she is going to solve my issues with a gift, so lets see 🙏 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Cold fronts have passed, wind is getting less and less as winter sets in Happy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Thrips did not survive the Neem, Ecobuzz double tap Honestly its like a shotgun for pests😅 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 Plant 2) LST still going strong with the bendies, must give the flower spots light!!!!

*I changed the length in the stats to follow the second plant from this week* Decent week with these two plants SG 01) The plant that stayed small after my little fimming mess-up Buds are getting thick and very smelly 😁 and she is just soaking all up the goodness I am giving her Aside from bulking up nothing else to really report SG 02) Okay this girl is just busting out every day, she seems to be in her last stretch before going into full flower mode Right now just trying to space out all the bud points so they get good light day/night From the looks of it she is going to be nice and heavy, topping her really did the job 💎MY WIFE BOUGHT ME SOME NEW NUTRIENTS!!! WHAT A GEM 💎 She hooked me up with some Biobizz, so this is new ground to me but the plants seem to be loving them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 So now armed with some new nutrients, I took it very easy introducing them. First few feeds I kept at the absolute minimum and then gradually worked my way up, from next week I will add more of the bloom as per biobizz feeding chart Watering is now pretty much 1.5l per plant every time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Winter is here and damn it has been cold The wind is just not letting up and it is freaking me out a bit with flowering and potential males in the area Thinking of keeping them indoors till harvest time -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 No bastards to be seen or found But I will keep up with preventatives, due to flowering Bioneem is out the window and now strictly Ecobuz anti -pest control -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 SG 01) No LST needed as she is a small Christmas tree with few branches SG 02) Bending her branches out the make space for the bud points

I went knocking on the devils door... and yes he answered. I noted a few times things were a bit boring without all the problems of my last grow, well things got a whole lot less boring this week Rough week for the autos, a build up that has happened over time and explains some stunting I could not figure out Clearly my PH meter was not working so well... and...yes I managed to PH/NUTRIENT LOCKOUT MY AUTOS 😖 Along with using RO which has no buffer to PH fluctuations... I managed to fuck it up royally No fault to any nutrients or anything, I just hit them with way too much alkaline but I was able to catch the problem quickly enough with my photos that they didn't suffer as much. So a slightly longer Diary entry this week in the hopes it helps others who may come across this - Droopy leaves - Lime green branches and veins in the leaves - Leaves turning sideways - Abnormal leaf growth - Stunting - Clawing leaves - Less water uptake than before Okay so first treatment was flushing asap - I flushed and flushed - about 35L per pot (too little I know but again inexperienced) I tested run off the next day with a proper PH checker and we were still in the 8 PH range 😭😭 Okay, clearly I had caused a massive problem BEHOLD THE WARRIOR ARRIVES!!!! GH FloraKleen or now known as TA Flashclean was the Hero I needed I flushed two dosses after the other and managed to bring the runoff down to between 6.5/7 okay awesome but we still have a bunch of deficiencies to fix as these plants have not been taking in a full range of nutrients for a good while now, bless them So now I need to wait a day or two for the soil to dry and will be giving them Ecobuzz Startgro which contains no Nitrogen as I currently have Nitrogen toxicity still due to PH range my plants were in They were literally only taking in Nitrogen Looking at a Nutrient to PH chart I should be lacking - Phosphorus - Magnesium - Boron - Copper - Iron - Zinc The plan is to introduce those nutrients in small quantities as soon as the soil dries and try to correct my damage I caused Also a dash of rootpro to give the roots some help, they must be hating me. They have recovered very nicely since I used the Florakleen - Leaves are standing up - Less clawing - Lime green is slowly clearing up - Branches are telling me they are lacking other nutrients... but thats okay, at least I can see what is going on now again Lets hope for healthy, beautiful plants for the next week -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Read above -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Winter is here and damn it has been cold Weather stabalising, less wind plants can get their morning sun till the shade sets in -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Nothing, thank goodness Unhealthy plants attract pests...so I was a bit worried -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 Almost all bendies gone Focusing on specific branches and garden plant wire

👉NB: Two plants in this Diary, was not sure how to add the second Sweet Gelato halfway through👈 Stats above were changed over to the second plant a week or so ago BOTH PLANTS WE ARE BACK ON TRACK Reintroduced nutrients slowly back into their watering cycle since the lockout, with today being the first proper nute feed with a bit of extra water Buds are smelly 👺 Canons are getting thick 💪 Sticky is an understatement, when i broke off fans leaves... It felt like I put my fingers in glue 👏 IT IS FOKKEN COLDDD - Plant not going outside 😨 PLANT 1: The little one, I stunted with a bad chop and some PH issues.... she is an absolute CHONKER THOUGH! I had to add some wire as she was almost falling over😅😅 She is right near the end, I expect to harvest her in the next few days as many of the pistols are cloudy and showing some amber... she is moving fast I am not going to flush her at all, with the new studies including blind tests and such that show flushing has almost no effect on bud improvement and can actually mess with your final weeks of growth... I enjoy listening to science. Also I flushed them two weeks ago due to lockout, really don't think its needed again.... like I said she is right at the end. Next week I am sure we will have some harvest photos and stats PLANT 2: This plant is developing so nicely since I flushed out the bad I opened her up nicely also, trying to get most of the buds in the top 3/4 as much light as possible. Almost all effects of lockout and Nitrogen toxicity are gone, just some lingering claw (which apparently never goes away) Her buds are getting nice and fat and turning into proper canons Now the branches are still showing slight nutrient deficiency, but with the nutrient feed I did this week it should all go away and have her back on track. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 PLANT 1: Very lightly introduced last bit of nutes on her final legs Startgro to help add missing nutrients from flush (No nitrogen in Startgro, point was to add nutrients with less Nitrogen) Biobizz for all the goodness it provides (molasses, NPK, Sweetness for buds etc) Adding a bit more water than normal, just yeah... A bit shy after lockout PLANT 2: Also light introduction of nutes but a bit heavier than the top plant as it still has a few more weeks of bud developement Startgro to help add missing nutrients from flush (No nitrogen in Startgro, point was to add nutrients with less Nitrogen) Biobizz for all the goodness it provides (molasses, NPK, Sweetness for buds etc) Went a bit harder with this girl as she is bigger and still developing hard - No watering down after -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 IT IS COOOOOOLD Biggest cold front of the year has swept in, dumped a whole bunch of snow and these plants are not going near that They will be staying in the tent for now.... I think they miss the sun but still look happy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Nothing, thank goodness - plants are now healthier so I am more optimistic -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 PLANT 2: Plant wire to keep branches open and buds get more light and a bunch of defoliation (a few branches every few days, no more shocks)

Plant 01: I thought she would be ready this week to harvest, but she is not quite there yet... Possibly in about 5 days or so Leaves are taking a bit of punishment from my lockout, luckily she is near the end. Chonky, Sticky and Smelly....Just the way we like em Plant 02: Buds fattening up quickly, thank goodness for recovery from lockout Leaves still showing some signs and im guessing some wont recover but overall the plant is much healthier. She is a beaut -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 back to normal feeding and watering -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Very cold, hoping for some nice colours to develop, as they sometimes do in the cold -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Hmmm found some shells on the leaves... hopefully its the ecobuzz protect still doing its job No signs of damage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 Plant 01: Very heavy so just holding her up with wire Plant 02: Still pulling her open, she is strong and fighting back but... wire is stronger :P

Alrighty bit of a fun week Plant 01 I discovered a banana or two on her, so not wanting any more changes with her or my other plants being pollinated I chopped her She was two days away from harvest anyway so not really a trainsmash She was short but THICK! 83 wet grams from her, she is now hanging in my biltong (jerky) drier I did change the diary to add two seeds but... I will keep all harvest info for when both plants are chopped Plant 2 Wowzer, after correcting all the wrongs she has become a mortar team Buds are wider than tennis balls and she is strong!!! She wont let me bend her any further, the bendies definitely made the core branches strong... will be using them again (almost like power lifting) I am sure my neighbors three houses down can smell her.... good thing we are legal :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Normal feeding and watering schedule 1) Nutes 2) RO water 3) Low dosage of kelpak RO water REPEAT Silica and other nutes added here and there when I think she needs them -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Cold front is gone, things getting a bit warmer, but winter is on our doorstep so it will get cold again -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Zero (Its amazing) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 Plant 01: clearly nothing since she was harvested 😁 Plant 02: Last bit of defoliation today all leaves over buds, all leaves not getting light at the bottom, any leaves that had to much damage from lockout

I assume this will be the last week of flowering for this Diary Plant 01: is chopped, dried and bagged as of last week (stats end of diary) Plant 02: She is passing, her leaves are going, and her trichomes are turning quickly As of this morning there is a big ratio of milky trichomes and as soon as I hardly see any transparent trichs left I am going to put her in 48 hours of darkness and add some cold. This may very well be my first auto I have completed properly (except for PH) So I am happy as you can imagine She is a freaken beaut 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💦Water and Nutes💦 Normal feeding and watering schedule 1) Nutes in normal water 2) RO water 3) Low dosage of kelpak RO water REPEAT Not adding any other side nutrients... she wont need em no flushing, going by recent papers and studies showing it does very little -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌞🌩️Weather🌩️🌞 Cold Warm Cold Warm Cold Warm Weird ass winter -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🐛Pests🐛 Not a hint...happiness -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 💪Training💪 Nothing except removing last few fans that are pretty much done

The smoke is awesome I chose this strain as i like a close 50/50 sativa/indica Too much sativa = anxiety Too much indica = I become useless So far I am super stocked with the smoking effects (I have only had two bongs) while the plants are curing/drying but they have been awesome... The effects is strong like a shot that hits you in the eyes as you drink it and then you just ride the waves Super stoked with the effects, im ready to work or game or go fishing....but the world seems to be a brighter place I am going to enjoy sharing it with friends (covid friendly ofcourse)

UPDATE 108grams dry 68 from second plant 20 from the first plant STOKED! I had a great time with this plant, I bent her and cut her (my first time topping) and defoliated for the first time and she stood up to it all This grow was another learning curve for me Soil that didnt balance PH for me (I learnt the hard way) My first time doing maneuvering (bending hard after topping) My first time putting them in a tent at night with an HID light My first time not using ecobuzz and using brand new nutrients My first time experiencing lockout I really had a great time with this plant and was full of smiles most of the time Harvesting was done in two stages First plant chucked out a banana, but she was almost ready to harvest so not a big problem I tried fimming this plant but made a mistake and then stunted her quite a bit, no fault to the strain but a fault of mine Second plant, about two weeks younger I was able to leave all the way to then end and give her two dark days on a cold floor The root ball was massive and the roots were healthy She responded very well to me topping her and bending her into sort of a twist to give all the new growth enough light to grow out BUT...BUT I did stunt these plants with my ph lockout, had I not stunted them I think my harvest would have been quite extraordinary for me and I would not have enough terploc bags to fit it all in😁 This strain was actually a stunner The buds are dense as hell and they are big I would grow this strain again in a heartbeat

Looking good brother! You can't go wrong with that Freedom Farms soil, I've done multiple grows with mine. Good call on the root pro, I've been pleased with the results since I started to introduce trichoderma in my grows. Take a look at silicon plus from hydroponic.co.za, it plays nicely with that stuff! All the best with this one!

Suerte con las plagas compañero 💪 Y es bueno darse cuenta del error con la alimentación de las plantas. En mi diario he cometido el mismo error, sobrealimentar de nitrogeno las plantas. Espero se recuperen bien ✊

@Taito, Yeah its been hard without a schedule, and I probably did not research nitrogen enough in the beginning I have seen the issue with the multigro I am using and am in the process of swopping to something with less N

I see the result of the fimming. Do you think it helped or did anything??
Riveting
Rivetingcommented4 years ago
@Shooey, So personally I only have one thing to compare it to and that is topping my other plant the Zkittles.... The topping of my Zkittles it was quite clear that it helped a bunch and i can see the split quite clearly and two main stems instead of one... With this one its almost like i messed it up. But there was not really more i could cut without turning it into another topping if you get what im saying. Time will tell this week if it actually bring me seperate top growth or what 🤷‍♂️
