4-17:
System has been rebuilt again.
Old 3.5 gal buckets removed and replaced with 8 gal EZ Stor buckets. External 3.5 gal res replaced with 15 gal tote.
Previous capacity ~10-12 gals, new capacity ~25-30 gals. **all nutrient quantities are cited for entire 30gal system, not per-gallon**
Old 1” flex line on the lower returns replaced with 2” pvc
Waterfall piping stayed the same
Old drip hoses removed and replaced with hydro halo drippers and flow rate at drippers decreased.
4-14: shot glass
4-15: paper towel
4-16: rockwool
As of moving to the rockwool I had 4 for 4 of the OG Kush BX3 x Quattro Kush F3 with tails, however prior to this I was trying to pop some straight Quattro Kush and was having the absolute worst germination rate (3 for 8, and of those 3 one of them was like 1/4th the height of the others and the earliest ones to pop were inching on on a two week jumpstart on anything else that I continued to try to get to germinate). These got plucked and shitcanned and I started fresh with 4 QKxOG beans that all got their tails
~9k lux on drippers, light @ ~36”
Seedling1 nutes @ 35%
~350ppm, ph @ ~5.8
4-18: all 4 have broken ground
4-20: ~12k lux at drippers
4-24:
Nutes going to EarlyGrowth2 but at 35%
Lux raised to ~15k at the drippers. Lamp at 36” above bucket and a 3” plant gives a 33” distance.
Seeing possible early signs of phenotypical variation. Front left plant has a red stem (other 3 are green) and it’s leaves are noticeably shorter and stubbier, more “wrinkly” too.
Other 3 appear uniform
5-1:
Keeping @ EarlyGrowth2 but upping to 42%
Lamp @ 36” and a ~5” height is a ~31” distance
Upped the lux ~2k, plants getting ~17-20k on them
Front Left is still appearing to be a distinct pheno. Shorter, wider leaves, tighter internodes, the red main stem has faded a little but it’s still there too.
The other three look pretty much the same. Rear Right might be a bit taller
5-2: snipped the single blade leaves and nodes
5-4: snipped branches off of 3 blade leaf nodes, kept 3 blade leaves on for now.
Rear Right is looking to be a node taller than the rest. Front Right might be stalling out, it’s def falling behind.
*decided to snip the 3 blade leaves off of both Rears and Front Left, keeping them on Front Right. Hoping it will slow down those 3 just a little and give Front Right a chance to catch up
5-8:
Topped Rear Left, Rear Right, and Front Left. Giving Front Right a few more days
Moving up to LateGrowth3 @ 42%
Plants are ~6” tall (Rear Right coming in @ ~8”) and a 36” light height gives them ~30” lamp to plant distance
Added ~3k lux to put it ~22-23k at the tops
Rear Left I’m calling the “Average” (#1)
Rear Right looks like #1 but is noticeably taller, bigger internodes. “Stretch” (#2)
Front Left has the red stem and the wider leaves, barely noticeable now and it’s blending in with #1 more and more “Red” (#3)
Front Right looks like #1 but is growing slow as shit. Might be stunted. Might turn out to be a mutant, I seem to have one every grow. “Pokey” (#4)
5-9: topped Front Right “Pokey” (barely, it was a low top)
5-10: starting to put the LST clips on
5-14:
Repeating LateGrowth3 @ 42%
~28-30k lux coming down on ~8” plants. 36” light distance has been closed to ~28” (Rear Right is coming in closer to 10-11” than 8”)
LST clips have been going on. 4way is laid out with the clips and the 2nd top should be happening in the next few days. One of the branches on the tall plant seemed like it just snapped itself in the clip for some reason, let’s hope it doesn’t start happening to a lot of branches
Rear Left and Front Left are beautiful healthy looking plants, nice and short, uniform, etc
Rear Right is noticeably taller and “stretchier”, it’s going to make an even canopy more difficult
And I’m convinced Front Right is going to go mutant on me
5-16: just turned the light up to 100%. 35-40k lux at tops of plants
5-17: finished the last of the topping, it has been an ongoing process
5-20: finished the last of the LST.
I’m getting daily drops in ph by ~.5. Roots look healthy, no smell, EC is rising (slightly but this might just be because of the large res).
Wondering if I’ve been overfeeding. Plan on dumping res for a 24hr flush/rinse tomorrow before flushing and refilling again for next week
5-21: dumped the res, rinsed it out, refilled it with plain water for a 24hr flush
Will drain, rinse, and refill again tomorrow before adding nutes for new week
5-22:
Last 24hrs were just plain water trying to flush, see if I can figure out this ph fluctuation.
Going to start nutes on LateGrowth3 @ 35%
Plant heights ~11” (Rear Right @ ~13”) leaves a 25” distance to light.
All the topping and training is pretty much done, now just letting them fill out and ideally show sex before flipping
5-29:
Raised the light ~6” to ~42” above buckets. ~17” plants = ~25” lamp to plant distance.
Nutes on Transition4 @ 42%.
Last weeks low-nutes for the first half of the week didn’t seem to do anything about my dropping ph issue, but mid-week I amended the nutes to run ~940ppm and the ph seemed to stabilize more then.
@ACMPRgrow, thanks! But that PA Hydro build has a big flaw in its return piping and the S-bend it uses to pass through one of the pre-existing holes in the tent.
I cut holes in the tent and passed all the return piping through the walls to the external res as low as possible and level, if you ever try to replicate his build I’d highly suggest the same.
But yeah I love this rig, and I sure have put some time and thought into it so I really appreciate the compliment
