Starting my second batch. This will consist of three strains (Sweet nurse Auto CBD - Sweet seeds, Purple punch Auto - 42FastBuds, and Banana Kush Auto - Seedsman) and will be grown both indoors and outdoors. The result - six diaries (hopefully 😀).
This one is for the outdoor grow of Sweet Nurse CBD Auto strain from Sweet seeds.
The packaging contained 3 + 1 seeds and I will divide that to two plants indoors and two plants outdoors.
Germination procedure is the same as with my first batch - paper towel method - i.e. water mixed with liquid seaweed.
I will move the girls outside when weather permits which I think will be in the first two weeks of May. Until then they will of course first have to germinate, and after that they will stay as seedlings as well as first few weeks of germination in my veg room. They will have 2x25W FL light with temperature held at about 25C.
The seed bank doesn't provide any detailed genetics on this strain only that is is a cross between unknown CBD strain and unknown ruderalis 😍.
The strain is CBD rich with THC:CBD ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 (5 - 10% THC and 10 - 16% CBD).
It is Indica dominant strain apparently producing bushy plant with large main cola and plenty of small buds on side branches. It should be fast taking only 9 weeks from germination to harvest. It should also be relatively small reaching between 60 and 110cm.
I don't know the success rate of my germination but when I do, I will let you know.
Update: The seeds took a day to crack their shells and today I transferred them to a pot (1l) for the seedling stage. The soil mixture was as I stated above and they will get their nuts from the RQS Easy Bloom tablets. I added a little bit of bat guano to the mixture and some root powder. I love it when the seeds crack 😍. Will update when things evolve further.
Update: day 5 - one of my girls, No.2 brought her head above the soil. She developed two nice round leaves. I am eagerly awaiting her sister's coming
Week 1
Seven days since putting the seeds on a paper towel. In the meantime they have managed to crack their shells after which I transferred them into soil. It seems they like it and they managed to come out of the soil and started stretching. They are now reaching 2cm (No.1) and 4cm (No.2). they also have four nice round leaves.
I am watering them every second day not waiting for the soil to dry too much.
They are in a small compartment, designed for seedling stage, with two FL baton lights each using 25W, and a heater that keeps the temperature at 25C. I don't have the timer installed yet so I can't put them to sleep at night but since it worked the first time I will not change that yet.
I am using rain water and adding just a tiny bit of Miracle Gro Soluble Plant food with N-P-K values 24-8-16.
Update: day 5 of week 1
The two babies (or as @Ktkoi would call them cannababies 😍) are developing nicely, adding leaves. SN No.2 is now 5cm high however No.1 is only 1cm high and looks a bit weak. I do hope she manages and develops into a great girl. I am not sure why she doesn't grow as nicely as the other one, her conditions are the same, oh well. On the other hand, her sister is having her leaves very yellow. some nuts problems perhaps?
Week 2 of vegging, 16 days since putting them on my paper towel.
The two girls are not looking OK. No.1 is small and doesn't grow much. She is only 2.5cm high and has only small leaves, not even corrugated. Her sister, although high (6.5cm to be exact) has leaves all yellow (the new ones). There are a few causes that might result in the two problems, a) the room temperature might be too high so I reduced it a few degrees, but that means all the other ladies are in the same. I might move them to the grow room where temperature is lower, and they will also get 20/4 light cycle which might help. b) there might be a drought. They were sitting at the back of the room next to the inlet opening. As there is an outlet as well, the incoming air (cold) might influence their grow (although i don't think the result would be leaf yellowing), and c) they, for whatever reason are not getting their nuts. As I put the pellets in, them might just be placed so that the food is not yet reaching them. So I started adding some Miracle-Gro Water soluble All Purpose Plant Food (24- 8 - 16) to see if it helps.
Otherwise, there isn't much happening in this early stages in their lives. Hopefully they manage and be ready to move outdoors for some natural light and fresh breezes coupled with some rain. They might like it 😉.
Because I lost (well, I didn't actually loose them but they just didn't crack) Banana Kush I decided to quickly include another few seeds and picked up Hindu Kush (Sensi Seeds) Auto Fem and moving the problematic girls to another room will free up some space for the HKs. But that will be of course in another diary.
For now, fellow growers, happy 1st of May, you deserve it since you all work so hard and until the update, enjoy
Will update when things change
Week 3 of flowering
I moved SN No.2 into her final 11l pots however I left No.1 in her original 1l pot. No.1 is just not growing, and is keeping her 3cm height for the three weeks now although she is green and looks OK. She had problems getting out of the soil after cracking her shell (it took her more than a week) and I am just wondering if she will eventually give up. No.2 on the other hand seems to like being re-potted and although she didn't grew in the last two days (still 7cm high), she seems healthy. She had some problems in the past, her leave colour was very light yellow and I figured she might have some iron problems. i don't know why since she is in the same soil as the others are but that is how it is. I added some iron to her food and now those leaves are slowly turning green so hopefully I managed to avert disaster. with lush green colour and having four sets of leaves. For now I didn't do anything to her and will see if she permits me to fim her or something.
As with all the girls of my second growth, she has been moved to the growth room where the other girls stay and is thus subject to the same conditions as they are (45% RH, temperature of 22C, and 18/6 light cycle). I will probably increase their light schedule to 20/4 when the old girls get out of the way. No.1 on the other hand is still with her sibling sisters having 25C and 24/0 light schedule.
The two girls are eventually destined to live under the clear sky and I hope they will get that thought I am not certain, depends on the weather (and other factors 😀) but will let you know when time comes.
For now my friends, happy growing to all of you
Week 4
Bad news, SN No.1 is nearing her end. She struggled for a month now and couldn't get herself start, and she is now finally starting to die. Her tiny stem is getting dry, and her leaves are curling. She is still in her original pot and placed in a sibling room where it is a bit warmer but it is not helping. So, I guess by the next entry she will be gone.
No.2 on the other hand is growing and added 1cm in a week. She hasn't been fimed like her indoor sisters were mostly because she has some problems. Her top leaves are pale yellow but she was like this from beginning. I am adding Iron and Ca to her water and her lower leaves got green colour but her new ones are still bad. I might have to increase her nuts since obviously it is working just not enough.
Otherwise, I am watering her with rain water which has pH 6.2, but as her sisters she is not that thirsty at the moment only being watered once since she moved in the grow room. She has 18 hours of LED light placed 1m above her and she is hiding behind bushy ML so it is not light burn (plus her leaves are not drying).
Hope I manage to get her going. It would be waste to loose both of them.
Until next week, happy growing
Too much watering. Did that mistake too. Just a few water then let the soil dry before watering again. But right now it's too late for them ;) Better not waste your time... start another culture ;)
@Ben2332, Hi Ben, thanks for the advice. I haven't been watering her since she was re-potted a good week ago when I watered her (and her sisters) thoroughly, And although I have sent the other one to the bin, I am still sticking with this one. She produces fresh leaves, so I still have hope., Thanks again
