I think I lost one of my seedlings but I’m going to keep it in the soil for now. I’m germinating another one in the meantime. The other one is doing great! PH measurement is based off of ocean forest soil combined with tap water that I use to regularly water my plants.
Plant doing very well! The other autoflower didn’t make it past germination unfortunately so i’m growing Skywalker OG auto in that container. I got a three way meter from Lowe’s for measuring light, ph, and moisture. I also got a soil test kit for later on. It’s still too early for nutrients but I’m starting to think about if I should go organic nutes or synthetic.
This was a busy week for my plant! It really started flourishing and i’ve just been watering with regular water. I started LST and there’s already new growth in the exposed areas.
Not much to say about this week. The plant is doing well with LST and I’ve now started using a TDS meter to measure my PPM. The PPM I measured was based on the runoff and since i’m using Ocean Forest, i’m not surprised about the number. I did test it last week just for kicks and it was about 3000 ppm. I’m pretty sure in the next few days it’ll be time to start adding nutrients.
Lots of foliage coming out and it continues to grow! I started adding nutrients at 1/4 strength and the plant seems to like it so far. I’m not sure when flowering will start so all I can do is just feed, water, and just do my thing.
Lots of growth this week with the introduction of nutrients. She handled it extremely well and has grown alot. At one point i was worried about nutrient burn because i discovered i put in more nutes than i planned. I didn't notice any issues but still went ahead and watered with regular water after the 3 days.
Growing is starting to slow down and I’m noticing some pre-flowering starting. I defoliated a bit to allow more air circulation. This was my first time defoliating so let’s see how well it does.
This week was a big learning experience. I started adding a bit of bloom nutes to my feeding schedule and I forgot to check my ph before feeding. It caused my soil to go from a solid 6.5-6.8 down to a 3 or 4. My plant was NOT happy with that and luckily i was able to bring my ph level back up. I’m also having nutrient deficiencies as well due to being overcautious with burning. So that combination really messed with me. But i’m learning and I was able to fix the issue. Hopefully next week will be better.
I JUST finished writing a summary for this week but growdiaries lost my stuff 😭 Just know that my plant is doing well, PH levels are back to normal, and I’m working to regulate my RH.
Just when I got through my pH balance issue, I started having nitrogen deficiencies. I ended up stopping my veg nutes too early and they started curling and drying up on me. I have gotten my watering schedule down well though. Also my humidity is steadily going down which is a good sign for my environment.
Nothing new this week except for battling the nitrogen deficiency still. Any of the leaves that the buds are using up i just wait until they’re ready to come off. I think the big mistake was defoliating so much combined with not providing enough nitrogen. However, my buds are still growing so that’s a good sign.
She’s finally starting to look a lot better this week after I defoliated any of the dead leaves that were ready to go. I’m giving her around 1400ppm of nutes every other watering and she seems to like it. The buds are starting to give off their unique smell and they’re plumping up. We had a rough road but she’s out of thr woods.
The buds are growing extremely well and the dead leaves that were totally destroyed are almost gone. There are still the brown tips but they haven’t stretched further into the leaf. I’m pretty much watering once every 3-4 days and feeding every other watering. I can also tell im approaching the end of growing so i’m slowly lowering nutes.
This week I’ve starter seeing some amber trichomes so i’m now to the point of flushing and waiting. She rebounded extremely well and the smell from those terpenes are very strong with a lemongrass/oregano scent. I’ll be checking the trichomes once every three days.
I’m really happy with how well these buds turned out. Even with all the pH imbalances and nutrient deficiencies, it produced an amount that I’m happy about.
This was my very first harvest and I’m so glad it went as well as it did. It jumped back well from nutrient and ph issues. Also very nice oregano/lemongrass aroma.
Those crispy top leaves are from overfeeding the plants. Since you're using FFOF soil (which is extremely hot) you should be waiting until week 6 or possibly the start of week 7 to feed your autoflower ANY nutrients. FFOF soil has enough nutrients to "carry" plants into week 6 or 7. I've learned through trial and error the same mistake you made. And I did it multiple times. By the end of my auto grow, some of my girls were so fried from overfertilizing that there were basically zero fan leaves left on some of them. If you're growing photoperiod plants it's a different story. You don't have to worry anywhere near as much about overfeeding those.
I actually just started to do what I told you with my autos and not feed until week 6 or 7. I have a Fast Buds Strawberry Pie in FFOF soil thats on day 38 that I've given nothing but water, and there is not one sign of any kind of deficiency. I'll keep you posted with how she ends up
@JasonMichael420, thanks for the advice! However the dead leaves were due to a ph imbalance as well as a nitrogen deficiency. Once the ph was balanced and i fixed nutrient lockout, the leaves stopped dying. I just hadn’t trimmed all of them off.
