Starting my second batch. This will consist of three strains (Sweet nurse Auto CBD - Sweet seeds, Purple punch Auto - 42FastBuds, and Banana Kush Auto - Seedsman) and will be grown both indoors and outdoors. The result - six diaries (hopefully 😀).
This one is for the outdoor grow of Purple Punch Auto strain from 42FastBuds.
The packaging contained 3 seeds and I will divide that to one plant indoors and two plants outdoors.
Germination procedure is the same as with my first batch - paper towel method - i.e. water mixed with liquid seaweed.
Genetically it is a mix of: Purple Punch (Larry OG x Grand Daddy Purple) x Unknown ruderalis
The strain is THC rich which can reach 24% (CBD less than 1%).
It is Indica dominant strain (85% Indica, 15% Sativa) which should be very tall (it is supposed to reach 150cm) but compact with thick and tall main cola and some side branches with smaller buds.
Update: The seeds took a day to crack their shells and today I transferred them to a pot (1l) for the seedling stage. The soil mixture was as I stated above and they will get their nuts from the RQS Easy Bloom tablets. I added a little bit of bat guano to the mixture and some root powder. I love it when the seeds crack 😍. Will update when things evolve further.
Update: day 5 - both of my girls managed to climb out of soil. No.1 developed two round leaves whereas No.2 still has her cap on. Way to go ladies
Week 1
It has been seven days since putting the seeds on a paper towel. In the meantime they have managed to crack their shells after which I transferred them into soil. It seems they like it and they managed come out of soil and started stretching. They are now reaching 3cm (No.1) and 4cm (No.2). they also have four nice round leaves.
I am watering them every second day not waiting for the soil to dry too much.
They are in a small compartment, designed for seedling stage, with two FL baton lights each using 25W, and a heater that keeps the temperature at 25C. I don't have the timer installed yet so I can't put them to sleep at night but since it worked the first time I will not change that yet.
I am using rain water and adding just a tiny bit of Miracle Gro Soluble Plant food with N-P-K values 24-8-16. I don't want to burn them 😋
Update: day 5 of week 1
The two girls are developing nicely, adding leaves and stretching a bit. They are now 5cm and 7cm high (No.1 and No.2 respectively). I hope they keep this pace and when they move outside they should be great.
I am wondering of one of you, experienced growers, can give me a hint of when to move them out. Daytime temps can climb up to 16 or even 18C but nighttime ones can drop down to a few degrees above 0C. Would either (or both) cause problem if I move them too quickly. They are not at comfy 22C.
So, week 2 of vegging, and 16th day since being put on the paper towel.
The girls are doing great. Growing, developing some nice sets of leaves.
No.1 is now 5.5cm high whereas her sister is 7.5cm high. Their leaves are nicely corrugated but didn't develop any fingers yet.
They are getting their water mixed with some Miracle-Gro Water Soluble All Purpose Plant Food (24-8-16) but only a tiny bit, don't want to burn them.
They are placed in the same room as other girls and are thus subject to the same ambient conditions. Because of the SN Out group (which is having some problems) I reduced the temp in the room to 22C so all the others are suffering, I might move the two problematic kids to the grow room with lower temperature and 20/4 light cycle. That might help them a bit, and then raise the temp in the veg room to make the rest of them more comfortable.
Because I lost (well, I didn't actually loose them but they just didn't crack) Banana Kush I decided to quickly include another few seeds and picked up Hindu Kush (Sensi Seeds) Auto Fem and moving the problematic girls to another room will free up some space for the HKs. But that will be of course in another diary.
For now, fellow growers, happy 1st of May, you deserve it since you all work so hard and until the update, enjoy
Week 3 of flowering
The two girls were moved to their final pot this week and now have 11l to spread their roots. I watered them on the outside half of the pot so to encourage their root spreading sideways before moving deeper into the soil.
It seems they like their move with both of them growing in the past two days, PP No.1 grew from 7cm to 9cm and No 2 from 10cm to 12cm. I fimmed both of the girls and I hope that will not stall their progress.
Having 85% Indica genes in them (with the rest being Sativa) I hope they will grow high and narrow so as to allow for the option they all stay indoors because of the potentially wet weather. Nevertheless, I will have to LST them and spread their bottom branches wide as to allow for fimmed top to develop and bear buds in all their purple glory.
At the moment I am only using rain water without any additional nuts since they already have some mixed in the soil.
They have been moved to the growth room where their older cousins leave and have thus moved to a different environment with some lower temps and shorter light schedule (18/6) but that will change when the older girls get out.
For now that is it, will let you know if something new happens.
The girls that will eventually move out (fingers crossed) look healthy. No.2 added 2cms in the last week reaching 14cm now. No.1 didn't add anything and I guess she is still shocked having her head cut.
Otherwise they have lovely colour and are starting to branch out. In that regard, No.2 is really productive. I think she might accept some forms of HST.
Currently they enjoy 18 hours of light a day but when the older girls move out, they will get 20 hours of light. It might make them grow a bit more.
They have been watered a week ago and are still having their pots relatively heavy so I am not adding any. Otherwise they are getting rain water and no additional food beside the one mixed in the soil.
Happy growing and if all well, come back next week.
