Hello everyone and welcome to my first grow diary. This is my second ever grow after testing the water with a single gorilla glue auto by fast buds. I encountered plenty of teething problems but moving forward with this grow it is already looking better.
So I’m using a 6-pot auto pot system which I already know is too much for my 1x1m tent! It’s a jungle!! I have plans in place to increase the grow space for my next diary to keep 6 plants on the go and I will be looking to reduce the strains to 3 and have 2 of each.
So the the blue mammoth and the 2 gorilla glues are actually a week ahead of the other 3 plants. (Late seed delivery) The 2 northern lights are keeping up well but the one at the back in the middle is lagging somewhat. It took 3 days after germinating the cracked seed to rise up and it was all deformed and looking rather sad. It’s pushed on like the runt of a litter but is slowly disappearing in the middle. It was a free seed and I can’t remember for the life of me what it is so if I can get better photos of it hopefully someone can identify it. In the mean time we’ll refer to her as the Oompa Loompa auto 😂
I’ve been trimming fan leaves here and there to help with light penetration for the last two weeks now. I’m using a 1000w and 600w led light but they are ‘eBay specials’ so what they actually output I don’t know but the ladies have responded well to it so far. If anyone can recommend the best ‘bang for buck’ led light let me know in the comments 👍🏻
Like I’ve said this is only my second time growing so any advice will help me so feel free to comment with anything you wish to say ✌️🏻
The barneys farm blue mammoth auto has peaked in height and is putting all its energy into growing big buds now. Apart from a few leaves here and there up top I have only really trimmed away on the bottom half of this plant. Judging by how icy some of the top buds are this early on I can this plant being the one to watch ❄️
The two fastbud gorilla glue autos are still stretching out their last bit as they transition to bud production. The one I didn’t top looks to be a few days ahead but doesn’t look as organised as the other gg.
Now I’m starting to think miss Oompa Loompa auto in the middle is actually one of the northern light autos as the other two plants look completely different. So the front right is the mystery plant which hopefully can be identified as it produces buds/smells. This one is on a big stretch and has overtaken the blue mammoth in height, although it won’t produce half as much bud.
I’m updating a few days early as I have a busy weekend ahead of me.
So the blue mammoth is continuing to bulk up the buds and I’ve trimmed only a couple of leaves away to help with light penetration. She’s really been on autopilot from the start.
The two gorilla glues are now putting all their energy into bud production and I have continued to defoliate these a little most days. They grow very bushy and with the tight space I have them in keeping on top of this has helped humidity levels around the canopy.
The two northern lights are a little dwarthed but are a week behind so it will be interesting to see what they stretch too before going 100% on bud production. A little defoliation has helped with light penetration and as with all of the plants in the tent I have taken everything out on the bottom half of the plants. Some will argue your losing a few grams of bud doing this but what your actually doing is allowing the plant to put all its energy into the buds up top. So if anything your going to gain by making them big buds even bigger!!
I have a dehumidifier on order as humidity can hit 70% in the tent which is not good for the buds. Last thing anyone wants is mouldy weed so regulating it to 40%-50% during flowering is ideal.
Ok I’m going to start by saying I made a hell of a mistake with nutrients. I have been using Dutch pro bloom nutrients from the start and not the grow nutrients 🙈 what a noob 😂
Despite this it doesn’t seem to have affected things too much as these girls are doing well so far.
The blue mammoth is chucking on the weight and icing up just nicely ❄️ it’s going to be finished well before the others so I’m going to have to lift the pot out of the auto-pot system when it’s time to flushing so the other ladies can continue to get nutrients.
The two gorilla glues are growing particularly different to each other. The one I topped continued to stretch a good 15cm higher than the other and is a few days behind in flowering. There’s a lot of bud sites on these so I’m hoping for a good yield considering they’re autos.
The stunted northern light has its work cut out to get any light and I’m defoliating around it continueously to help. But she was slow right from the start as a seedling so it’s just one of this things.
Now the unknown strain in the corner is close to 80cm and I have a feeling it’s an amnesia haze auto. Not from looks just the name popped into my head lol it’s a more delicate/dainty plant than the others and won’t produce a big yield but it’s healthy and beginning to grow buds so happy days 😎✌️🏻
The weather the past week has been a lot warmer and with the dehumidifier in the tent kicking out heat, temperatures have been at the limit. I’ve just ordered a 1.2 x 2.4 tent and a 6” fan setup to pull the optimum amount of air out. This should help control temps better. I’ve also moved the taller plants to the back so the smaller ones can be seen and accessed better.
So the gorilla glues look fairly different to each other. The shorter one is a much darker green and is packing on buds at a faster rate. The taller one which I topped is a lighter green and appears to be moving a little slower at the moment. I topped this one at the 5th node and it’s left all 10 coalas the same height at the top of the canopy. So it’s shaped up well it could just use a bit more space.
The unknown strain (amnesia haze?) is getting frosty and growing some nice buds. Not much else to say about this one at the moment.
The northern lights have been moving very slowly recently. Putting them in a week later than the others may have had an affect but they are growing at a slow rate.
The blue mammoth is continuing to impress with great looking buds building up. It’s going to be a toss up between this and the shorter GG which with produce the biggest yield.
✌️🏻
Not much to report after this week. Things are not moving at the speed they should be for some of these autos. Temps have run into the 30’s on quite a few occasions which could be slowing down growth. The blue mammoth, the shorter gorilla glue and the unknown strain all seem to be fine with the temps and continue to grow well. But the other 3 are slow moving.
Temps are still averaging a lot higher than I’d like but until I have the new room setup I can’t do anything about it. The gorilla glue that I topped nearly died after I unintentionally kinked the line for the auto pot it’s sat in. Im not sure how long it went without water but 4/5 stems never recovered fully so I cut them down to where they looked healthy.
Other than that the blue mammoth is close to being flushed I’m just waiting for a few more amber tricomes to appear. The rest are all busy building buds. The northern lights definitely prefer cooler climates as they have been moving at a much slower pace in the high temps.
The new grow room is finally up and running! The increased volume of air passing through the tent has helped get the temps back under control. The plants have more space too so the next ones growing from day one in here won’t be hindered by over crowding now.
The blue mammoth is now showing enough amber tricomes so I’ve begun to flush her with straight water. My old tent is still set up, although in the way a bit. But I will need to use it to dry the bud off this girl as the main room is still in use. I think im going to get a small 40x40 tent that will fit on the table in the main room to use for drying as I like having different strains growing. (Meaning different harvest times). The 4” fan setup out of the old tent could be used in this (110m3/hr).
The unknown strain is close to getting flushed. Now it has space some of the branches are struggling to support themselves. Are there any keen eyes that can tell what strain it is now? Very leafy rounded buds?
The gorillas are still doing their thing. They certainly live up to their name with noticeably stickier buds than most.
The northern lights are starting to get somewhere now and the larger one looks like it should produce a good amount of bud. Could do with a bit of defoliation but I’m going to leave it for now until the buds have thickened up a little more.
So after a week of flushing the blue mammoth is showing no signs of yellowing yet. I know from the burnt leaf tips early on that it’s had too much nutrients, so the leaves may not lose their green colour/nutrients by the time I harvest. I can get away with flushing for one more week but a few days of that will be spent in darkness at the end. The nutrients I’m using have an npk of 6-2-5 which doesn’t seem all too ideal for blooming in my opinion despite them being bloom nutrients. The high nitrogen ratio could explain why some of the leaves have curled under a little? I think I’ll stick with them but reduce the amount given and add additional phosphorus as some of the plants are struggling with bud production.
Been the easiest to grow by far. I gave it a minimal trim and that’s it. I did get nutrient burn but despite this it didn’t seem to lock out and the result was a lovely looking auto. Definitely one to try if you want a care free grow.
Hassle free grow with a result I’m happy with. Drying happened in only 3-4 days due to the current hot weather which isn’t ideal. But it doesn’t taste bad at all and it still needs some time to cure yet. Will definitely grow again.
So the blue mammoth and the unkown plant have been harvested. Leaving 2 gorilla glues and 2 northern lights. The GG that i didn’t top has now started flushing. The other one isn’t quite ready so it’s staying in the autopot for now. Bud size is lacking on both but there have been a number of things that could attribute to this, such as nutrient burn, lack of phosphorus (6-2-5 npk) and excessive high temps. But I’m continuously learning and that still what matters!
The runt northern light isn’t doing much while the larger one has really took off. I trimmed a couple of the larger leaves to help with light penetration and it’s revealed some nice bud sights I wasn’t aware of.
The bigger northern light is working at a good pace now and shouldn’t need much longer before flushing. Got some nice size buds coming along that look amazing. The other gorilla I’m just waiting to see some ambers so i can flush.
Ultimately once the good northern light is ready I’ll pull the others too so I can make way for the next grow to start.
Didn’t turn out half as bad as I first expected. Yield isn’t huge but there’s some good quality buds and the high is a nice clean one that sees me relaxed but focused on something like playing xbox lol0
Seemed to grow to an expected size for an auto then almost laid dormant for a few weeks before the flowering exploded, creating some nice size buds. Nice relaxing smoke. Will grow again.
HAHAHAHA i know how it is whit "no name seed's" have a round 200-250 but they are 5-6 years old but some still pop's, good luck and i will whatching you'r grow
Wowee! That is one packed up tent, and such a beautiful canopy! Is this your first grow in that tent? I don't know how all you indoor people do it, planning the space so that they can all fit. Do you have to take them out a lot to do the defoliating and watering? Or are all the plants connected and watering one spot waters them all?
@TomatoloverBoy, I’ve had to defoliate to aid humidity control and light penetration anyway so a net isn’t really needed to help control the plants but it may help if I end up with some heavy branches as trying to tie up the back plants could be tricky.
@Experimentgreen, this is my second grow, the first being a single gorilla glue. I have too many plants for my tent space this time as they are tight! Lol 4 would have been better than 6. I can manage fine with defoliation and they are sitting in an autopot system so they’re all connected to an external 100litre tank that bottom feeds all 6 pots.
@Short_N_stockY, it’s filled alright lol with the radiator and dehumidifier now in there it’s too tight. So I’m upgrading to a 1.2 x 2.4 and getting an additional two auto-pots. So eight plants in the bigger tent should give them the space they need! 👍🏻
@DizzusBoy, yup I’ve got it covered. I have two 6” dual speed fans coming and the slower speed is roughly 20% less so I’ll run that on the intake to maintain negative pressure inside the tent. 👍🏻
Hi FireKing, hope you are well.LED : http://www.viparspectra.comI have two 900w running in my tent, no issues and so far so good. They are 12 band and have incredible reviews. Zero issues this far and I recommend them for Beginner to Intermediate growers.let me know if you have an questions and I can try hell out best I can .welcome and #staylifted
@Excalibur, hi and thank you! The viparspectras are definitely at the top of my list so far so I feel I may be giving one a go on my next grow. Need to upgrade my entire setup but space and lighting will be first 👍🏻
@TomatoloverBoy, I did very much the same with my first grow but it has to happen in order for you to understand and learn. So this time around on my second grow I have avoided the errors I made before only encountered a few new ones.
@FireKing,I think I did all wrong what human can do wrong
Overfeed , overwater , underwater , did overkill on grow technique , didn’t use the space and many many more
I am Noob master
Last what happens is did split plant main branch in half 😑😑😑😑 two days ago at watering.
That was super fun experience
@Larimar, I got it as a free seed when I bought the northern lights seeds and I know it was a different strain to the NLs so it should be something else. I’ve just updated with photos and you can see they are very leafy buds.
@Hawkbo, yeah they’ve been great. Only downfall is having different strains in there means I will need to flush the plants at different times. So I think I’m going to simply take the plant out of the autopot and hand water for the last week so the rest can carry on getting nutrients
I would stay clear of blurple technology. It still does work but overall it’s outdated technology. When looking at amazon or eBay you want to see what their true power draw is not what they have in big writing.
E.g for a 4x4 you would want something in the range of 450+ true watts
I would look at quantum boards from alibaba highly affordable and highly effective
What a great looking grow! Stoked to watch it finish up. If you're interested in watching some auto's grown in organic living soil with minimal salt nutrients, take a peek at my 3 new diaries!!
