Happy 420 all - Sorry I have been so lazy with my diary...life took over and could literally only get out for a few checks in quick bursts. Got to the point where I grabbed myself a Torus Hydro to try an maintain my pH (ended up with the wrong one for my system though...apparently need an inline!!! Not sold in this part of the world...talking with Torus to see if i can get that corrected!!! :D)
So, wedding Cake, wasn't part of the original plans...I may actually only be week 3 on this plant as its all been a bit of a blur; but long story short I had popped 2 backup W/C's knowing the Strawberry Lemonades didn't look too well...1 came round but was having a bit of a time with the other Strawberry lemonade, I had to cull it - it was just too ill! I think it was my fault...couldn't get the humidity up for love nor money...Was going through a 5L humidifier in under 18 hours (Bought a 2nd humidifier that has now helped sort that out). This was giving what looked like everything stress...bad roots, possible Moly issue, possible Mn issue, possible Calcium issue and just not growing so broke out one of the backups (keeping the other one as a bonsai mother hopefully for a cloner mother next run).
I had started this in a Root Riot sponge and potted in dirt to keep for indoors but it took to a migration to clay no problems. It is a bit of a stretcher, esp. the lower branches...they're right up there (compared to the others that are quite slow bring up the lower growth tips) and this is under a 600W MH lamp on a 6/2 light cycle...its defs coming across as the mightiest of the bunch for being the youngest (Back right in the 4 plant pic).
Think next week will be the last veg week. Will change up feed this week and drop the scrog net so start the week training I do before going to transition/flower. Staggered branching already started so looks ready to flip from the 6/2 to a 12/12.
So talk about your soul leaving your body!!!
Nice day today, pretty warm (For this region at this part of the year...sunny and about 18C)...made the grow room a bit balmier than normal...and then Ordiget Digital timer!!! F**K this thing!!! Bought from the Baldy Billionaire!!! Checked everything this morning before I went to work, all was great. By the time I get in, lights were out so couldn't see anything (I like them in full darkness, even in veg). Built the young lads bike I got him for his b'day, had him cut the lawn while I built it...had my cold jugs of water in the grow area warming up for tonight's feed change and then I open the tent....carnage!!! Everything wilted apart from the 1 root in plant (Using a Wilma but last week I drilled out some holes for roots to drop into the res)!!! Look at the timer and it had fully reset...2nd time this thing has done that!!! after a week, it seems to wipe the clock and the timers!!! About to raise hell on Amazon.
Luckily I'm running 6/2 so at least dark periods not too long so caught this relatively quickly. Threw the pump on and got 15 mins of juice into them...then done a full res dump and change (Took a good hour and a half as I like trying to rinse out any auld shite from it and pump it out a few times). Water was still a bit cool (14-15C) but was finished bang on time for their feeding so thought I better get these some fresh stuff in! Thank Little baby Jesus, 8lb 6oz they started stiffening up their stems from the 1st and 2nd blast of juice. Hit them with a Nitrozyme foliar and they started sucking that up and getting perky. So, got the SCROG net on them...another disappointment. Thought it was a 64 space net but turns out to be only 32 (Checked the website again where I got it from and says defs 64 spaces) so a bit hot about that.
So, finally, was going to defoliate a bit too but after the drying out they got, don't think the stress is worth it tonight so will probs strip them back a bit tomorrow night but at least their drinking so at least I have a crop still!!! Back to the mechanical timer and lesson learned! Also need to see what I can do about getting a 64 space net for next week as have a few growth nodes and dont think 32 will be enough!
Anyway, rant over...happy growing all!!! :)
So, its the week the girls get to grow up and Shine...1st Day of 12/12. Thinking how much fun this will be going from a 6/2 but what the hey, they need their beauty sleep now to blossom - may take a few days longer to transition but....
Received a Torus Hydro Inline in the post today (Really didn't think I was going to get it but fair f**ks to Torus Hydro, they delivered!!!) but wont put it in until next grow. Story behind this is I bought a Torus Hydro Standard...Didn't realise that its pretty ineffective unless your setup is roots in (Which it is now, but that's by the by...). I brought it up to my vendor that it was killing my pH to some serious acidic areas and in all fairness, in their sales docs, it states my setup probs not right but I thought what the hey, lets contact Torus just to make sure its not a fault as when researching this last year, the inline didn't exist and claimed to be OK for my setup. Also, nowhere in this region sells the inline so was pretty snookered. Well, the guys at Torus were AMAZING...Seriously amazing (The bad press they get on YouTube from a couple of people must be from some seriously bad manners on the youtubers part!!!). All they asked for was my Proof of Purchase (Which just happened to have my dispatch address in it) and under a week later, an inline arrived from Germany!!! Cant wait to try this in next run as I do go away a few weekends so pH management a pain in the balls when you're not there!!! :P
So, they're now under the Sylvania 600W Dual Spec HPS and SCROG'd so no more "Real Colour" shots for the rest of the grow. Now just to keep them happy and fed!
Everything has been ticking over nicely so nothing really to report. Not seeing any mad stretch (Didn't in last grow either funnily enough) but only 1 week from lights moving to 12/12 and this is a Dual Spec HPS so maybe the small amount of blue in there limiting that???
There are quite a number of Spindly Top Stems...hoping they beef up over the next couple of weeks but do have a 32hole SCROG net I can put in to support them if needs be if they do remain a bit spindly. Probs the last Nitrozyme Foliar I'll give (...maybe 1 more after a haircut next week just to minimise stress).
Torus In Tank (not the inline as I didnt install it yet) seems to be pretty decent now and holding out the pH quite decent (will tend to acid rather than an upward tend to neutral like a standard drift, esp. when the water is low). Roots are well in the Wilma now and even the Strawberry Lemonade that got an accidental root prune has built up a good mass in a week again.
This grow seems to be drinking more than the last one - from 50L in tank, I took out just shy of 20L in tonight water change, so 30L drunk in the past week. No top-ups/dilutes so they taking the feed nice with no tip burn (Not bad for calculating the feed chart 3 months before beginning the grow and never having used Botanicare Kind Line before!!! :P)
Nothing new to report really. Girls are getting on grand. Drinking like fishes (Dumping 5L per day out of my 5L humidifier in the grow area). Biggest stretch I've had in a grow (can't tell if its strain, feed or the 6/2 veg transitioning straight to 12/12 - all other conditions are essentially the same [lights, etc.]).
The Wedding Cake is a fair grower - Be on par with the Strawberry Lemonade (Strawberry Lemonade Was popped 1st, Wedding Cake a 2 weeks after) and is the native 6/2 plant. It really took to that regime when it came of the 24/0 seedling light (didn't even flinch going from Root Riot/Soil to Clay Pebbles). Its thankfully been healthy and happy all grow.
Fresh feed recipe above (came in slightly lower than expected but at least I know there will be no Nute Burn then!). Torus Hydro still keeping the pH in check but may need a run to the hydro shop for some supplies this weekend (Sensizyme, Silicon, maybe more fulvic and probs the hydroton for the next grow... :P ).
They got a light Nitrozyme foliar feed and that will be the last. Removed a few low hanging and dying leaves - not a full defoliate (still too scared for that!!!) but a clean-up and a re-tuck of some big top leaves to expose some more bud sites and that it really!
Happy growing all!!!
Hello all,
Pretty static so far going into Week 4 of flower. Hoping the stretch has stopped. Strawberry Lemonade and Pink Kush #1 went to battle for height at the front of the tent with Pink Kush #2 throwing out a Lanki Boi out of nowhere to be the tallest branch in the house!!! Funnily Enough, the back of the tent, even though the light was very central in the tent stayed relatively stretch free, just the mid section under the bulb went balls to the wall...maybe I was too close but thought the lower light at the back would make them come up looking more? Dunno...could be something with the parabolic throw.
Only change this week, apart from concentrations, is I added Sumo Active Boost as no longer Nitrozyme spraying with flowers there. Don't know if its needed with Pure Blend Tea but hope it can do no harm...apparently it helps with the uptake of P & K so lets see. Didn't add PK Warrior 9/18 as I didnt like what it did to my water last time making it incredibly acidic (Like a drop from pH 6 to 4.7 overnight) so leaving it out as don't know/don't think i should need it with the levels I am using of Kind bloom.
Apart from that, general tidy up and letting it all tick over.
Happy Growing all.
Evening all, this is the beginning of week 5 for me (Week 5 Flower that is). Will be a short update...COVID-19 Jab 2 today and starting to feel the effects of it now! Ready for bed!!! :)
Nothing much to update...they're ticking along nicely.
Plenty of flowers fattening out nicely, stacking up rightly and doing what the big girls should do! No real issues. Tank staying nice and stable with the Torus Hydro (like apart from an adjustment when temp comes to normal tank temp of 18 the next day...may need a few drops from a pH adjuster). Always throwing in 5L on the Wednesday just to keep the Sicce Voyager Nano 2000 submerged to keep everything mixing and it not overheating - also that 5L brings the EC right back to start of week settings so they eating nicely, could even turn it down a notch but no burn so no problem at the moment)!!!.
Fingers crossed it all stays this way to the end! :) Noticed 1 adjustment to my recipe, my mental maths is wrong and Bloom is @ 2.4ml/L and noted in the diary correctly!
Happy growing all! :)
Nothing strange or startling to report.
All ticking over as it should with no major surprises (Thankfully). Ramping down some feed/additives now (dropping Silicon, lowering Fulvic, etc.) and on the 1st of the 2 highest weeks of bloom feed now.
Hopefully it remains plain sailing!
All going well...Pistils retracting, ripening up well and that's it really.
Deciding on whether I should do a really light feed week or drop the feed and use Dragon Force next week...or light feed next week and dragon force the week after (week 9) and Water week 10...the Kush and Wedding Cake is an 8 weeker really but round here, the stonier the better is the order of the day so not as big a deal if they go one a bit more to allow the Strawberry Lemonade to catch up.
That decision also forces me into changing to the Finisher bulb date....a couple of real colour shots be coming again soon!!!
Decision, decisions!!! :P
Happy Growing all!!!
Evening all, regular schedule resumed! :)
Again, nothing to report...into Ripening weeks now so changing to the Dragon Force, Got the finisher bulb in there so hopefuly some nice "Real Colour" shots again.
Apart from that, hopefully on the final stretch (or ripen as the stretch finished weeks ago!!! :) )
In the Last week now. Still running the tank from last week...just plain water top ups now. No feed being taken on at all so thinking I could drain the tank, rinse it and flush for the next couple of days.
Couple of buds getting light stressed shown by the fresh pistils (Even though all within PPFD/DLI - Yes, I bought a Lux Meter - Uni-T 383BT and PPFD Meter for Android).
Next update should be the chop! :)
Will be beginning next grow quick. Plan is Sweet Seeds 2x Red Hot Cookies and 2x Sweet Cherry Pie (Thanks for the testers @Sweet_Seeds). They're getting treated to my OCD with Light Tester, CO2 Monitor, IR Thermometer (ordered) to get VPD right and a GeekBeast Pro 630W LED winging its way from China as we speak (to be here on Tuesday latest!!!). Think this run dialled in the new feed (As there no 'Real World', 'sensible' feed strength charts out there for Botanicare kind an NO EFFIN WAY was I going to use their suggested EC's!!!).
Apart from that, happy growing all!!!! :)
All looks good so far. Plants did stretch a fair bit in switch and really only on the last week...couldn't train them down as stems were starting to stiffen (and I am shit feared of Super-Cropping!!! :P ) - This left me with a few Less Ripe lower buds but sure, there's nothing wrong with hash!!! :D
@@@hillman, Cheers sir...hopefully now just pH management and tucking for the next week and then watch them bloom! :P Next time, 1 strain again for only 1 diary though!!! Its a pity I had so many issues at the start of this one with humidity and all...too busy concentrating on nursing them and forgot to do my Time Lapse videos. Will do them again on the next grow! :)
@Grow3rPT, Best thing about it, it was one ofthe lowest EC's I've ran. That leaf took just over a week to get to that size and plant was only under lights 3 weeks (so 5 weeks from seed...still a pup!!!)? I am putting it down to the 6/2 schedule I ran. They had time to rest, dump feed to roots and concentrate on growing and didnt have to be stores for long periods of the day! :)
@Grow3rPT, Much appreciated. Really took to the 6/2 and the Botainicare Kind..they were DEEP green and biggest leaves I've ever had on a plant! Its been one healthy grower!!!
@@hillman, Had a good look there tonight. Plenty of pistils in the growth nodes and the top growth nodes appear to be clustering grand. Seeing as its only 8 days, cold turkey from 6/2 to 12/12, I'd say its looking pretty successful so far so here's hoping to a decent crop! :)
Che belle piante! Stavo cercando informazioni sul ciclo di illuminazione 6/2 e ho trovato il tuo diario. lo sto provando anche io con una autofiorente. Che differenze hai notato nella tua coltivazione?
@Bryankush, Hello, The veg period seemed great. Massive leaves (But I have changed feed this grow so don't have a parallel with a different nutrient line to see if it would do the same). I have never done auto's but I was under the impression if you're going to do them...just batter them with light for as long as you can (i.e. if you can do 24/0...do it! :)). I didnt have any issues going straight to 12/12 either for flower and since you dont have that problem at all, I'd say go for it! It does no harm and the veg stage was as healthy as you like...no issues them taking to it either.
@xbrico, well documented ! Will meditate on this for a while because the idea of a comparative grow (18/6 vs 6/2) has begun to circle. Just for the fun of it if nothing else. Thank´s man, You´ve made my day!
@@@hillman, Hello, I have to say, I am/was curious/skeptical myself about it but thought sod it, was already having a few problems with the start of the other plants so thought could do no more damage! :P So far though, its actually quite good. The leaf mass seems higher - all plants have some gorilla hand leaves on them. This one went in as healthy as possible and seems to be thriving!!!
The logic is supposed to be is no one *really* knows at what point in any light cycle the plant's photosynthesis saturates the leaves with sugar....is it 14hrs, 16, 18....nothing really can say (no mater what weedspert pops their head up!!! :P) and it could be totally plant specific (as in to the plant, in that 1 pot, not the breed/strain or the other plants of the same breed in the other pots in your tent) or if it even does saturate. On the dark cycle, the plant sends the sugars to the roots to help fuel and power their growth - that's always known. This cycle is supposed to ensure there is never "saturation" or "wasted photosynthesis". It regularly gets to dump the sugars to the roots which should in turn, give better growth as the roots are always well fed with sugars to grow, which in turn allows the plant better uptake more nutes on the light cycle.
There also naysayers to say "its not natural, its evolved over millions of years to do this in this way...". Difference I see is with an indoor grow, you've turned it into the Truman Show. You control every aspect of how it lives and it only really knows what you tell it (apart from how to eat and breathe!).
Cheers for the like/follow and I hope we both get something good out of this grow! :)
** Update ** - trying a flush. Not pure tap water but close. Added 60ml pure blend tea, 50ml active boost, 50ml fulvic and 50ml Sensizym to a 50L tank. Probs add 5ml ATA Clean just to start to cleaning process too. Last days now!!! :)
Edit - Added PK Warrior in the end, but very little compared to recommended...added at 0.2ml/L as opposed to the 0.5-1ml/L (1ml/L usually used the 1st week [week 4] and then 0.5 for the following 3 weeks).
