Started germinating the seeds 3/11. Had a taproot within 48 hours. Had some nice seedlings by the 16th or 17th. Didn't give the seeds anything but a couple drops of water here and there and 24hr light.
Slow start this week. I planted the seedlings in the soil on 03/14 roughly 72 hours since I started germinating the seeds on 03/11. I planted into a mixture of vermiculite, perlite, sphagnum peat moss, and organic soil once a nice tap root developed from seeds. Fast forward 3 days and I had my first visible leaves emerging from the soil. After 4 days they were completely through the soil and looking for light. At this point no fertilizer was used and very little watering was done.
Not much going on. Plants look healthy and are growing by the day. These pics were taken exactly 14 days from the day I started the seeds. Germinated on 3/11, planted 3/14. Plant completely emerged by 3/18. These pics were taken 3/25. So however you look at it
Week 3 was an amazing week. Upon my return in week 4 I noticed my Autos had surpassed my expectations and boomed during week 3.. Week 4 had some more major growth and even some nice bud sites to begin forming. Being Autoflowering strains of course they begin to flower on their own without a light cycle change. I have been running lights 24/7 every since I planted them after germination cycle. At the beginning of week 5 I will begin an 18/6 light cycle just to allow the plants a 6hr rest period to help bud development from now til harvest.. The plants seemed to like the LST put in place in the prior week and took advantage of it with new growth in all the areas opened up. All three strains are very aromatic and have been since about the second week of the veg cycle. I listed week 4 as part of the vegetative cycle instead of the flowering cycle because bud sites are just beginning to form and also because autos really don't have independent veg & flowering cycles so I feel it really doesn't matter. They are basically in the flowering cycle from the seed and neither a light cycle or anything else can change that.
Overall week 5 has been a good week. Changed light cycle from 24/0 to 18/6, defoliated, and re-tied everything back down. Plants all lost about half of their height after I tied them back down. The FIM and LST techniques are keeping the ladies nice and short with a multitude of bud sites. Trying to keep the canopy nice and even throughout the entire grow as I've learned in previous grows that an even canopy equals even bud quality. These plants have been defoliated around the base of the plants and anywhere light was having trouble reaching. Plants are smelling even more wonderful and seem to be enjoying their current environment. My Alaskan Purple Auto is probably my favorite of the three autos in this grow. She is very aromatic and extremely sturdy with thick dense buds. I cant wait to see the final product! Oh yeah, I also added an older 300w blurple light in the mix just to make sure I have more than enough light. My SS1000 puts out great numbers no matter where I check it in the tent but I just wanted the added satisfaction plus I'm just curious to see the changes if any with the added light. I know either lights can grow nice plants on their own so combined? Who knows.. we'll see.
