Hey Friends, nice to be with you again. This year I've choosed to try some fast version strains from Sweet Seed hoping to finish the runs before October. Stay safe.
24 hours water soaking - 24 hours paper towel
Adaption week. I'm still alternating artificial and sunlight, Little S.A.D. & Sisters began to taste, well protected, some hours of wind and night cold, the natural conditions that they'll find along the way. For now plant is responding to these constant variations by growing well without any stress. Good genetics. Sweet Afghan is the slowest of the batch.
10 days to transplant.
Just the days I need to finish her new permanent wooden greenhouse and to mature my homemade earthworm humus.
Happy Growing Folks
During this week Afghan Girl has been a lot stressed, due both to weather changes (now is turning hot and windy) and to my own mistake (overwatering). This little carrion is the one that is struggling more, I have already observed that kush strains at the beginning of outdoor cultivation suffer a little, here.
I really hate pot cultivation.
She will be transplanted definitely in a few days.
Little afghani suffered in her small pot, I was able to restore a balance of soil moisture but still moderate chlorosis started. Really these strains have a high metabolism. Great response to transplant now she's regaining her correct shape.
The Soil
This year I changed the composition of the soil a bit. In addition to the usual organically enriched soil, I added ProMix Soil, perlite and 6 kilos of humus made by earthworms farmed in volcanic gravel (souvenir of a trip to Vesuvius).
The Garden
Last year I often had to chase the weather changes, now I will play in advance. I built a wooden greenhouse with an ultra clear PVC roof, say goodbye to rain!
The Setup
All plants will be grown horizontally again for 1 meter because last year's no-topping choice is back in terms of bud weight and quality. Let's see how she will reacts to brand new home.
Ten days of hot sun over the horizon.
Happy growing Folks
Perfectly adapted to soil now Little Afghani not only has it recovered from previous stress but is now accelerating even though the weather is not too sunny. Horizontal LTS starts today. I'm in love with this strain, very resilient.
Happy growing Folks
All is going fine, Little Afghani is a bushy plant and now is the biggest among the sisters.
No issues, great LTS response, very good genetics.
Peace Growmies ✌️
I can't call her "Little Afghani" anymore 'cause now is big bush full of beautiful thick branches, this is very promising. This plant attracts critters, some leaves are heavily bited. Damn.
Great LTS response, great heat resistance. Strong genetics.
Peace and love Growmies ✌️
In the middle of the european heat wave
Vigorous plant, thirsty plant, hungry plant.
Rubbing the stems let you tele-transport to HinduKush mountains. My first impressions about Sweet Seeds strains is extremely positive, a good genetic research is clear here looking to how these strains rise up, no leaves deformations, an omogeneous grow pattern despite being three strains and three unique phenotypes. Also if u consider that temperatures are above 100 °F since ten day and no one of my three strains show the minimum sign of heat stress.
Peace and love Growmies ✌️✌️
Sweet Seed is keeping its promise for now.
Hi Friends, this year's run and related diaries are poorer than last year's for the simple reason that the plants are practically growing by themselves, I just give them so much water, the sun makes the rest.
Sunlight: 14.59 hours of light
Highest temperature: 100°F
Humidity: 75%
Water volume: 2.4 galls a day
Sweet Afghani is a big plant, very vigorous.
She is growing more than 2.7 inches a day.
As the sisters she is in pre-flowering stage. No need 4 feed, no heat stress or other issues, great smell.
✌️✌️✌️
Pre-flowering stage, stretching phase.
Today exactly 14.53 hours of light.
Average week temperatures 90°F
High humidity
Amazing plant, very vigorous with thick branches. Basic structures of buds are forming. No issues, no pests, no need 4 feed
Pre-flowering stage, stretching phase.
Today exactly 14.41 hours of light.
Average week's temperatures 80°F
High humidity, some stormy days, hew heat wave is coming.
Afghan is a massive plant and is almost ready to flower. Branches are very thick and sticky. Great smell. Starting to defoliate the bottom canopy.
No issues, no pests, no need 4 food.
Maybe this is the hottest week of my life and Afghan girl seems not to even notice. This massive plant is in flowering, is perfectly healthy so I've decided to not defoliate her. Stangely the smell has turned from kush to matured cheese.
Apart from the fact that it hasn't rained in 75 days and that temperatures have touched 104°F degrees every day for a month and that this great plant is flawless I don't have much to say. One main branch and some random tips show initial signs of potassium deficiency. This could be triggered by excessive heat or by my scheme of watering. Another possibility is that the soil it may be slightly acidic and this could cause a lock in potassium absorption. Or more simply this beast is very hungry.
However, I have started bloom nutes and the issue doesn't seems to have gotten worse.
Completely insensitive to this endless heat wave, Afghan is growing superbly. I think she got it in her head to beat Special Kush yeld (18 oz). I'm with her. Thanks to my LTS method I've obtained from her 4 main stems, I know very well how much these colas will weight later. Folks, this beast needs lot of nutes.
Giant plant shows signs of senescence as I'm just irrigating it with osmosis water. Smell in progress......
I'm in full paranoid now, smell is strong so to mask partially the smell I'm burning mosquitos repellent all day. I'm not having fun anymore, wanna finish ASAP.
Every run I got a a plant or unfortunate or problematic. This is the time of Afghan. One big branch is poorly developed and shows typical signs of root issue. The stem is intact, no mold spots, no holes, no breaks. At this point I don't care a fuck. Also, this is the second time that I find a small spot of bud rot but I think that these are caused by green caterpillars. Perfectly successful surgical operation.
Surgeon for job, surgeon for weed.
Apart from these little problems she remains a great plant. 1 week to harvest.
Mild and perfect weather.
Mmmmm, another rot spot WTF.
Better to cut down this big and problematic plant. See you ASAP for harvest update. I'm not satisfied.
Expected yeld 10/15 oz
ADVICE
THIS CULTIVATION HAS BEEN BLESSED
BY THE LORD OF WEATHER
.......... but now fuck off and let it rain........
Sweet Afghan Delicious is a easy to grow strain but it needs some additional cares. My expectations , in a perfect environment for growing cannabis like my garden, have been satisfied, anyway.
According to the breeder this plant has finished its cycle as suggested by technical sheet, right before the bad weather
SUMMARY
Total dry weight 298 grams
Sprouted April 27
Flowering on July 26
Harvested September 17
Flowering days 51
Start to flower by 14.32 hours of light
Total 130 days of outdoor cultivation
Two branches (in sunny exposition), in the last three weeks of flowering, have showed very suggestive signs of root problems. After the cut I've digged the roots but they have looked fine to me.
Of course these buds are smaller.
Some bud rot spots around, early recognized and removed. Pls note: not a single drop of rain hasn't for the last 4 months .....
PROS
Early flowering
Extra short flowering time
Perfect buds shape
Great yeld
Resin production
Heat resistant
CONS
Poor pest resistence
Needs balanced environment
Needs fertilization
Smell/flavour could be stronger
Sweet Afghan Delicious is a good choice for outdoor growing for the very short and early flowering time but needs extra care because could suffers of botrytis. This plant is big as the standard feminized so, if well farmed, the harvests can be very huge.
Thank You Sweet Seed, you kept your promise anyway.
Good luck Growmigos
@Weedovaurus, nice to see you too. I'm now following Ur GG and PK. The first 'cause the only one seed I've bought didn't have germinated and the latter 'cause it's a strain very familiar to me (I'm smoking a PK spliff right now 😁). Happy growing my friend.
Looking great my friend. I am so grateful for the legality in my state but I know the feeling of paranoia. I still have it. It used to be we would go to jail if someone robbed us (and we did something to them) now the rippers go to jail for a long time if they rob us. I couldn't imagine worrying about the law as well. Good luck my man.
@masterofsmeagol, thanks Bro. Here weed cultivation is still illegal but is allowed to grow THC-less cannabis so I've bought three sativa plant with certificates to justify cultivation. The fact is when you realize you have at least 3 pounds of premium stuff that smells too much the fear of being robbed or arrested sends me into paranoia. Luckily the weather is still excellent and the roof protected the plants from the rain,so there are a few days left...
Lol, great post. I think most of us feel like you at this stage. Even those inside and in complete isolation! 😱 don’t worry bro, keep them good vibes and them citronella sticks burning and the sprit of jah will get you through. Peace and blessings ✌️
Thank you very much for trusting our strains, and sharing your experience.
And thank you very much again for the score of 7 out of 10!! (it would have been great to see 10 out of 10 :P)
We hope you enjoy the harvest 👌
Sweet smokes!
