Starting my 3rd attempt at White Widow. I had a bit of stunting at the very beginning but I am getting better at the transition from rock wool into the DWC buckets. There are some sub-optimal pH conditions in the hydroton, I think. Still working on a solution.
Not a lot of growth, slower than before.. I think that I soaked the rock wool in the wrong pH. I got red stems pretty quickly so probably too much nutrients, I backed it off to 150 ppm to make sure I wasn't giving toxic levels of nutrients.
This week saw explosive growth as the plant got past the stunting during germination. I kept the nutrients fairly light and the plant ate them up nicely. It's nice to see the plant spring back in this way.
steady growth and some brown spots on leaves. I always seem to have those pH or cal-mag issues early on but I can't figure out if I give too much or too little!
I have become pretty aggressive with early defoliation and topping when I grow photoperiod plants. You have a lot of time to micro-manage them into the shape that you want. I did the typical "Nebula" mainline here but I left 4 main branches rather than only two. I've found this make for a more symmetrical plant!
I also completely changed my nutrients and I purchased the full expert line for General Hydroponics so the composition totally changed. Very happy with the results!
Still going aggressive with tying the plant down. I have topped multiple times to get a good number of colas going! The mainline looks strong at this point.
Now on the 'transition' nutrients schedule and the plants are clearly loving it! I've never had such robust looking cannabis plant. The different nutrient regimen is definitely superior to trio alone if you compare with my old journals. I am blown away!
Now on 'early bloom' nutrient schedule. The mainline, LST, defoliation and topping procedures are bearing fruit, literally! The plant is very flat and wide just as I'd pictured it.
Within a week of flipping lights, there are already so many developed bud sites! I've never seen growth like this so quickly in flowering. Really excited for this grow. Using 'early bloom week 6' feed chart. No signs of deficiency anywhere.
Kept the nutrients the same here because the plant looked fine. Started to add a tiny bit more FloraBloom. Still in awe of how healthy and luxurious this plant is turning out! Flowers are looking nicely developed.
Using 'mid bloom week 8' feeding chart but I noticed that there's a a deficiency coming into the leaves, starting to fade and turn yellow a bit pre-emptively so I bumped a little bit more FloraGro back into the mix above the recommended dosage. The plant quickly returned to its healthy green state. Not quite ready for the fade yet!
Mid bloom Week 9 schedule in full effect. I kept the additional Flora Gro here even though the chart says to cut it completely. I wanted to make sure that the deficiency didn't creep back in before the late bloom phase.
The plant continues to fill out and the aroma is amazing. It smells just like Skittles candy when you touch the buds. All the additives have definitely improved the aroma and terpene profile of these plants. I wish it had a bit more 'gas' to it but it does smell super sweet. Threw in a video!
Using the 'mid bloom week 9' schedule but with a little extra FloraGro. I think this is saving the top fan leaves but it's making the plant produce more fan leaves at the bottom even tho they're flowering. There is basically no 'larf' on this plant as I've removed all the lowest buds. I have been defoliating very aggressively to open up the bud sites. Trichomes are almost entirely cloudy now!
Another big photo dump! I've completely cut out the FloraGro now. Flowers are starting to fatten and the lowest buds look very mature already. Excited to see what happens in Late bloom!
This week I moved onto the "late bloom" stage of the feed chart. The plant is smelling amazing and the buds are dense and INSANELY sticky. I have to wear gloves at all times when touching the plants or my arms and hands feel sticky for hours. So close to chopping and I am very excited. This plant completely blows my other White Widows out of the water in terms of quality. Very proud of myself :D
Defoliating like crazy now! Still on 'late bloom' nutrients and just monitoring the plant. I still have no signs of amber trichomes but I prefer it that way! Every cola is robust and heavy in the hand. This is gonna be my biggest yield even tho I have no larf to artificially inflate my numbers! Can't wait to smoke the buds at the top, they are going to be some of the best I've ever grown.
Now onto the 'ripening' stage so the nutrients are reduced quite a bit. Still no sign of amber trichomes. I use the dry koolbloom powder at this stage. It's so rewarding to see such a beautiful plant.

The Canuk White Widow seeds don't have great germination rates but the plants that grow are really nice. I am really getting a handle on this strain. I had no nutrient deficiencies or stunted growth at any point during this run.
My biggest harvest yet from a single plant! Closing in on 1 pound per plant which is very exciting. I could have vegged this plant longer but it still takes forever to mature. It never produces amber trichomes in my hands and just stops growing even though it's still consuming nutrients. This is the nicest LST/topping job that I have done yet and every branch produced a massive cola. I lost one cola to white mold but I have busted up the rest and inspected everything so I think it was an isolated incident. It smells amazing and it's gonna cure in the jars now! How many times a week change the res water? and how did you change it with some pump? And congratulations on the grow good yield and here you have it atlast! Happy smoking ! Report on the smoke feel.
@TheCode, Typically once every 7 days full res change and I alternate topping up with pure H2O or half nutrients depending on the feeding rate. In late flower, I use a small $15 pump to remove res water so I don't have to lift the whole plant out of the bucket. Smoke is smooth but dry mouth!
Looking good. Im interested in your grow because im doing white widow myself except, right around week 4-5 i almost poisoned them for 3 weeks while we had no water so my res kept getting more concentrated. The coolest thing has happenend, in short, God heard my prayers and it literally looks like she started flowering all over again. May 1sy was the start of week 9 and they STILL have white hairs sprouting out all over. Hopefully she'll keep going another 6 weeks and i can actually get some bud.
