This is my first grow so hoping for the best. Comments welcome! Thursday - Soaked overnight in a glass of water Friday - Friday morning the tap root had started to show. Planted Friday afternoon in 2x3" containers under a dome lid. Saturday - Got the grow light set up 24/7, watered with Clonex Sunday - no action Day 1 - first seed popped in the morning, two more in the afternoon and the last looks like its starting too Day 2 - The three seeds that popped yesterday are now 2.5" tall!! The fourth one still hasn't made an appearance. Trying not to worry :( Day 3 - Well I shouldn't have done it but I poked around to see what's going on with the last seed and pretty sure I killed it...the head fell off with what would have become the first two leaves. I left the stem stump in the soil to see if it makes it but not looking good. The others are getting taller, 3" now, and doing well. I added some soil around the base of the plants for strength and lowered the light to the top of the dome. Also opened the vent to let some of the humidity out as it was reading 94 RH. Temp 21 C Day 4 - First real leaves are starting to take shape! Still about 3" tall Day 6 - 3.5" tall . Watered with Cal Mag, Great White mycorrhizal, and Clonex Day 7 - Early signs of the second set of real leaves! *** I'm keeping all my entries under Germination until I move them out of the dome around week 3 or 4 *** Day 9 - Today I noticed a bunch of small fruit flies maybe in the dome? The vents are open a bit on top so I'm not sure if they came into the dome or if they were in the soil. Any idea what I should do? Day 11 - The bugs seem to have mostly disappeared since I opened the dome and let them out two days ago, and closed the vents to prevent them from returning. Since the last watering on Day 6 I've noticed a bit of yellowing at the tips of the leaves. Maybe I'm a bit over protective of these little guys but its possible they're getting too much nutes. The potting soil has some in it plus what I added. Maybe switch just water next time?

Does anyone know how we are supposed to record the seedling phase? Do you enter it under Veg in growdiaries? When do you consider them in Veg - I've seen videos where they keep them as "seedlings" for up to 3 or 4 weeks, then start Week 1 Veg. Thanks for the help!

I record my diary entries as ‘week ending such and such’. I germinate in peat pellets. So from the day they break ground for the ensuing week, I class that as germination week. Of course, a 4 seed run of plants won’t all germinate on the same day but allowing a week should cover any stragglers.

Yeah pretty much same here once the first leaf starts show up I call it veg. If you see green through the medium with a small stalk is a viable plant in my opinion.

My plants are only 9 days old and today I noticed there are small bugs, they look like fruit flies, in the dome. Not sure if they came from the soil or entered the dome through the open vents. Any idea if they will damage the plants? The leaves look alright, maybe some curling.

Spraying Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTi) every 10 days should prevent any mold, and fungus gnats from ever appearing again. Use this align with sticky traps and good watering pratices to minimize te risk of infections. Also, do fix the infestation, do not ignore it just because the plant looks good, it wont look good if the infection develops more, and shit will probably be happening underground to, su thats why you should always take care of the infection at first sight. Most larvae form of of these insects damage roots and disease the soil, wich will only show up as weeks past. Even if you cant exterminate the infection, keeping her in control will come a long way, and BTi doesnt cause resistances in bugs. Bti is good because it can be used as a preventive method aswell as an active method, on veging and on flowering, without any harm done to the plant or the smoker. Is also microbes, so they are organic and disappear really fast from the plant, specially when exposed to light. Hope it helped by giving another solution. Good luck!

Make sure you don't over water the top soil. Thing I do to deter pests are •Neem Oil Block (just place in area) •Fish tank stones on top soil so gnats can't get to the soil •let the top soil dry out between each watering

Hey there, I would think this r gnats, but like Cannachica said, could be thrips. Have a look for those flies on the internet to classify them to get the right repellent. Yellow stickers would be mandatory. Check your Soil Brand! Many of the cheap producers come with pests. I just can recommend predatory insects if your plants are heavily infested. You can get them via Amazon. May you also wanna have a look for a "Neem-Product"! Spray, or Oil.. works as repellent for many pests. Hope this will help a bit, good luck for the rest of the way 🤞 Servus✌️

We would like to know what kind of light you have, and a what distance. All we can do is tell you possible causes. You got to narrow it down on your own. First i would check the light if you cant handle the heat from the lam on your hand from where the plant stand, neither can she. (I doubt is light burn though) Second, i would check the ph. For soil you want between 5.5 and 6.5. Lower or either it will show as deficiencies or excess, causing all weird problems. Third, is the soil to hot, as in too much nutrients? Is it an all mix? Have you been adding nutes to it? In your diarie, the aditives you show, shouldnt cause those problems, if given in the right amounts. I do believe that the soil ph will be to blame here. Anything you need more just send me a private message, ill try to help as much as i can. Keep us informed, ill be glad to hear some good news ;) Good luck, big up!

@Mrs_Larimar, great idea - thanks! I've noticed the long one gets sort of floppy, then stands up and flops over again. I'll give that a shot. Its also very humid in that dome, almost raining in there. Should I take it off for a bit to dry things up?
