Germination
5y ago
Matezzi Quick and effective germination, we have a piece of paper towel folded at the bottom of a tupperware, poured a little water in the bottom, placed the seeds, covered with another folded paper towel and added some water on top. After 48 hours, Cannelloni and Tetra (the names of the first two plants) already had nice roots, and they were placed in soil under a greenhouse near a window and a radiator. They will be joined by Ching and Chong, the last two, the next day. During a check on the status of the seedlings, Cannelloni got a shock that damaged its stem; we’ll see if that hinders it later. After two days under the greenhouse, all four had good size and were ready to be put in a bigger pot and under the light in the box. Feel free to ask your questions, I’ll try to answer as much as possible (I’m not a professional). Peace.

Matezzi First week in soil for our Kalini Asia seedlings from Zamnesia, previously germinated. In this grow diary, we will try to apply the SCRoG (SCReen of Green) method in due time. But for now, we have done the first watering with a small amount of fertilizer, which we will continue regularly starting next week. I’m still a beginner, and the goal of this diary is precisely to learn together different techniques to optimize our grow, so feel free to share your advice for the community, while remaining courteous of course. Peace

Matezzi Calm week, with a few small waterings using a sprayer. Beginning of the regular watering schedule (25cl/plant/3 days). Decreasing the volume of rhizotonic now that the roots have started to form. We will wait for the plant to grow before choosing the growth method we will adopt (SCRoG, ...). As you can see in the photos, Tetra and Chong are doing beautifully, while Ching and Cannelloni are currently slower, but showing no deficiencies or signs of disease. This week, it’s mainly the leaf system that has developed, which explains the slow height growth. You may have noticed the two small pots on the right side of the box; they contain a 5th backup seed of Kalini Asia, which will be used if one of the others encounters a problem or for decoration, as well as a Do-Si-Dos Automatic gifted by Zamnesia. We’ll see how to manage that in due time. Catch you next week for the continuation, and normally, the changes should be more significant. Peace

Matezzi As expected, our plants have grown in volume this week and have started to grow taller. We took out the two extra seeds (left abandoned) from the box and put them in a pot as decoration in the living room. They show significant deficiencies due to a lack of proper watering. But it’s not a big deal; those were "bonus" seeds, we'll see if they come back to life even though our hopes are slim. On the other hand, the other plants are doing wonderfully and have a beautiful dark green color along with big thick leaves that would make you think they were salads. We do note that Cannelloni is smaller than the others (12cm compared to 15-16cm) and has a slightly lighter color. We don’t know what this is due to since all four plants have received strictly the same treatment. If you have any ideas about the cause of this difference, feel free to share in the comments. For the next steps, nothing incredible, we will continue for another week or two with the same watering rhythm and without changing fertilizers so that our plants have time to finish their growth period peacefully. We will also be repotting soon into the final pots, but we’ll see that in due time. Peace.

Matezzi This week, we mourn the two little ones out of the grow room, dead due to a lack of attention from the gardener... Otherwise, good news, the plants are growing before our eyes even if they still look small, and we are getting closer to repotting and transitioning to flowering! Many little branches are starting to flourish on our plants, we will take care of the suckers in 3-4 days along with the repotting (photos will come in due time). We cut off the lowest leaves of each plant because they were completely yellow and dry. And we can see that this phenomenon continues on the lower leaves; if you have any idea what might be causing this, your tips are welcome. On my side, I think it’s due to the proliferation of suckers that are draining all the energy from the little ones. We’ll see in a few days when we take care of it. Until then, thanks for your help, and we'll catch up in a few days for the pot change! PS: We topped our plants now that they are well developed, to get 2 main buds instead of just one. Peace.

Matezzi We're probably entering the last week of growth. New trimming of the suckers (no photos this time). Our plants are doing very well, except for Tetra, who is starting to show roots from leaning too much. We're going to increase the amount of water per watering (75cl/3 days instead of 60cl/3 days) to properly prepare them for the start of their flowering phase and the stretch that comes with it. We're halfway through the grow, and a nice smell is starting to fill the apartment. Peace.
