Lamp is a Vipar Spectra 450w. For the first 5 days I set the lamp 28 inches high with a RWB Spectrum of 30/80/80. Yesterday before sleeping I adjust height to 25 inches with a spectrum of 50/100/100 which I plan to use for the vegetation stage. On day 5, thought they’d be a little bigger by now. They’re starting to grow another 2 serrated leaves from what I can see. I’m a new grower, if you see anything wrong let me know. I decided to not transplant and planted right in the 3 gal pot. I didn’t want to have that risk on my first grow, and from what I see transplanting only gives a bigger plant. I’m not that concerned about quantities this time around, just quality.

Grow Questions

I’ve read that you shouldn’t use nutrients right away because it may cause nutrient toxicity. However my nutrient instructions start on week 1, so I assume it’s ok. Does anyone have any suggestion as to when I should apply nutrients to the water? I’m growing in a 3gal pot.

Hi, Definitely don’t feed it any nutrients for the first 3-4 weeks. You could do more harm than good so early on. You’re growing medium has enough nutrients in already to sustain your plants leaves. Wait for a few pairs of true leaves before you consider giving nutrients. She will grow great with just light, water and steady air flow. This early on. Hope this helps and message me if you have any other questions. Good luck

@dahoola, Thanks! If you spot anything wrong let me know please, it’s my first time. Everything looks good to me, probably not perfect but it looks like it’s working.

Got my second fan in and changed the flow of the tent. The fan you see in the picture is now blowing out, heat rises, and this helps to remove the lamp heat without effecting the plants environment. The second fan is at the duct on the bottom, also lightly blowing on the seedlings. I also adjusted light settings. Plant 2 you can see that one of the new leaves is turned upside down or twisted, and plant 1 which was a thriving color has turned slightly yellow. I increased lamp height by 1 inch and turned down the R/W/B spectrum to 40/90/90

I know I said to point out anything you see wrong, but I realize now I would like you to also point out what’s right too. As I said this is my first time growing so any reassurances will boost my confidence. Even though it all looks and feels right, there’s a lot of stress and anxiety caused by second guessing myself. This will for sure hurt my plant not help it.
