Thought it would be fun to do some autoflowers in front of my window / on the balcony. Maybe I'll buy a little greenhouse for them.
The grow is for medicinal purposes.
Day1:
Started germination. First soaked in water for a couple of hours in the dark, then into 'easy start' cups from royal queen seeds. I noticed most of the seeds from the Sweet CBD Auto pack from Auto Seeds were pretty pale, I hope it won't cause problems with germination. I expected a bit better looking seeds for the money, but I guess I'll just have to be patient. None of the 3 sank immediately in a cup of water, the Critical CBD auto did after aprox 2 hours. They're in the soil cups now. made a small hole, seeds in, lightly packed with some soil on top. Soil is moist, not wet. A dome over it with some sprayed water for extra humidity. Temps should be 19c during night around and 22c during the day.
Day2:
Prepared the pots with the medium, gave them a spot and already planted the companion plants. The pots I'll be using are 9 liters.
Day 4: Caught a ladybug and brought it home, also first companion plants are sprouting :)
Day 5: Northern Light Automatic was not showing any sight of germination yet. I could've waited longer but since I have a feeling the THC % wil be too high for me anyway, I decided to go for another strain instead. Just placed a Fast Eddy CBD from Royal Queen Seeds between moist toilet paper for germination.
Day 7: Fast Eddy showed his root and is now planted. The other girls are doing good. They lacked a bit of sunlight today, have a philips hue lamp for a bit extra but it doesn't help enough. Put up a fan to help strengthen their stems cause they are stretching a bit.
16 may: Fast Eddy just popped up.
17 may:Sweet & Critical are doing fine. Stretched a bit because of the lack of sunlight and my lamp not being strong enough to make up for the lack of light. The fan is helping them build stronger stems. Otherwise the girls look healthy.
21 may: The weather hasn’t been great so the girls lack some sunlight. Added some new pictures. Gave 1 militer of fishmix on 2 liters of water. PH'd it down with a couple of drops of lemon juice. The girls are looking a bit lightgreen, not sure if it's the lack of light so a only gave a light dose of food (quarter dose of advised).
24/5 - Other than some more stretching, the girls are doing pretty good. Added some extra soil as support for the steels. Not much to report. Hoping for better weather soon so I can place them on the balcony. They really need some extra light.
28/5 - Finally, better weather. They've been chilling on the balcony a lot of the time, basking in the sun. They love it!
31/5 The girls are looking really healthy. They love the sun and growth is really catching on now.
3/6 Started LST today. I need to keep them low to avoid detection and I hope this will also increase the yield.
9/6 The LST hasn't really been working out. The internodes are too small to do it properly. Besides that, the companion plants are too big so they easily cast a shadow over the plants when I tie them down. Otherwise the girls are doing great. You can smell them a little bit now when the wind blows past the plants into my living room :)
10/6 pre flower started on all 3 :) Did some light LST
13/6 trying to keep the LST up by moving fanleaves out of the way. I have LST clips but they're too big for the internodes which is annoying. Girls are looking healthy and flowering is slowly starting.
14/6 all is good. Plants looking healthy. Beautiful color on the leaves, no signs of over-or-under nutrition.
15/6 upped nutes a little bit. Fish and Bloom now at 1,5 ml/l with topmax at 1 ml/l. Up from 1 / 0.5 / 0.5. Eventhough I’m still a little under what biobizz prescribes. I’m going to keep a close eye for overfeeding since these are autoflowers which usually require less feeding. Besides that, there is still some slow release organic fertilizer in the soilmix.
I also Finally got some LST wire which makes it a LOT easier.
17/6 girls are getting more thirsty
21/6 All is well. girls are doing great. Did have some spidermite on my cacti. Immediately rinsed them with cold water and placed them outisde. Trying to avoid stagnant air. The last thing I need is a spidermites infesting my CBD girls. Upped nutes slightly to 2/ 2/ 1 up from 1.5/ 1.5/ 1
28/6 girls are doing fine. Especially Critical & Fast Eddy. Sweet CBD is lacking behind. Not stretching like the others and bud formation isn’t as fast either. It’s funny because she started out really vigorous and was the biggest in the first 2 or 3 weeks. I think she will have a longer total cycle than the others. Hope the quality will make up for it.
5/7 doing good. Not much to report. Smell is increasing. Fast eddy getting a bit frosty, critical has some nice bud formation and sweet is lacking behind. Hope she catches up soon.
12/7 Oh man, the smell is really strong now. Especially Fast Eddy. Buds are forming nicely :) I think 2 more weeks after this one and they will be ready.
13/7 Oh no, my girls have bugs :o Fast Eddy had quite a bit of aphids, Critical CBD also a few but luckily not as much. Sweet CBD seems to have some spidermites but it's not a lot and very tine dark moving spots so not 100% sure. Removed the more heavily affected fanleaves and tried to kill as many bugs with my fingers as possible. Also removed the marigolds cause these were the heaviest infected. I had companion plants to attract good insects, not bad ones >:( Will keep a close eye out now to check for any bugs on a daily basis.
16/7 ladybug larvae are here to wage war upon the aphids :D
19/7 Other than some bug problems. Plants are doing fine. The Ladybug larvae are gone somehow :/ I did spray the plants lightly with a mixture of water garlic and cinnamon. That helped a lot with the aphids. The smell is getting sweeter and nicer but it's also quite strong and pungent. When they're on the balcony you can smell it for quite a bit of the inner yard (which is shared with neighbors). Luckily I haven't had any complaints yet.
It's week 11 now. The plants should be finished in 11 weeks from seed, but they will not be ready at the end of this week. It's like 40 / 60 clear / milky so they need 2 to 3 more weeks. I think 2 more weeks of feeding and then 1 week of flushing. But we'll see.
21/7 The bugs are an issue. Can't seem to get rid of the aphids / spidermites / thrips. I've got it semi under control by checking the plants every day and killing every bug I see and defoliating the more infected parts. It's a pain so I'm going to start the flush and harvest in 1 to 2 weeks. I'm starting a new purplematic CBD grow and I don't want the bugs to spread to the new seedlings.
26/7 Getting close to harvest. No more nutes since halfway last week. Flushing the plants for some flavor benefit. I think the Critical will be ready on wednesday or thursday. The others I'm not sure but I'm keeping check on the trichomes. Aiming for about 30% amber.
27/7 Wanted to wait a little longer with harvesting. But I just had to harvest Critical CBD and Fast Eddy. Aphid reproduction was growing rampant and budsides were infected. Harvesting now, getting rid of the fan leaves and bud washing before drying. Sweet CBD Auto is doing fine. No real aphid problem there so she can mature a bit longer. It's a shame I had to harvest the other two today, because I was looking to get some more amber trichomes. Ah well, shit happens. At least I still have my outdoor grow to look forward to.
Haven’t vaped yet. Will need some curing. Most will be used to make oil. 10,4 gram isn’t great considering that includes the sugarleaves.
Edit: just had a little vape and oh wauw, that taste! It’s like having a cheesecake with sugared citrus zest. Nice creamy smooth sweet experience, and that is before any curing :o
I didn’t really feel much from vaping it. Just my mood was lifted and I was slightly relaxed and better able to concentrate. But no bodily sensation nor a head high. Did give me a bit dry eyes and very slight headache. Very shortlived though. Half an hour to an hour. Will have to try again once it’s cured.
Edit 2: This stuff is great when you're feeling down or depressed. It doesn't get me high or stoned. A little bit more relaxed but nothing really noticeable, but the effect it has on my mood is so good. I've been struggling with depression but this just lifts my mood. Suddenly I feel like doing things, life seems to have more color.
A bit better yield and better developed buds than the Critical CBD. But still not what I hoped. Aphids were a problem and caused me to have to harvest the plants early. The lack of proper weather also played a part.
2/8 keeps getting fatter because of the buds that just keep developing. Hardly takes any water so a bit hard to flush. Happy to see this will probably still be a good yielder for it’s small size.
4/8 just harvested. Got a microscope to better check trichomes as opposed to my loop. Turns out I’m already at around 40% amber. Maybe slightly over so harvested immediately. Washing and drying now. Super happy that at least one of the plants had good developed buds :)
Easy growing compared to the others. Lovely smell of tropical/citrussi diesel.
Disappointed in the yield though, especially because it took a lot longer to finish. I did get it a tad too dry, but still. Probably just a plant that needs a lot more light than I was able to give it on this grow.
Will update on the quality of the bud soon.
Update: vaped it a couple of times and this is quality CBD. Really love the terp profile of lemondiesel with tropical taste.
The effect is nice. Clear headed. Lifts depression a bit. Lifts stress a bit. Lifts pain. No side-effects. You don’t really notice it really, but when you reclect on your day you realize it was a bit better :)
@BioBuds, Nice one. I'm thinking about buying a tent myself. But since I don't really smoke I'm holding it off to see how I react to the oil. If it's good medicine I might still go for the tent eventually.

@Nenay, yeah in Europe here this summer is horrible... i was planninf outdoor grow... bought a tent instead. Dine with summer messing up my stashplans :p...

@BioBuds, Thanks for the encouragement :) Definitely trying again. Still got 1 x Sweet CBD in front of my window, 3 x Sweet CBD in an outdoor grow in a nearby garden and 2 purplematic + 1 Fast Eddy seedlings waiting for better weather so they can go outside :)

@Beyourself, I did prune the white clover but the marigold is hard to prune and the leafs are thick and get it the way. I can bend them a bit to the side though. Will probably just do white clover if I do another grow.

@Beyourself, To be honest. I don't know if I'll do it again. Maybe only plants that stay really low or are easy to prune. They easily overshadow the lower nodes and make using training techniques more difficult.
@PeppaWutz,Yeah they do. 4.7 gram would be enough to make about 100 ml of oil. I have harvested two more Critical CBD plants from my outdoor grow though, so I should be able to make enough when I include that harvest, which was bigger.
