21JUN2021 // Today marks day two of germination. The seed has been planted directly into the soil for germination. I had allowed the soil to gather rain water for moisture before placing the seed about one knuckle's worth deep in the soil. The next day I watered with regular, RO treated water. Cup stays over top to hold in moisture and humidity. Seed is situated in a five gallon fabric pot filled only with Ocean Forest Potting Soul courtesy of Fox Farm.
22JUN2021 // Today marks day three of germination. Condensation on cups is promising. Watered with 3ml/gal Big Bloom courtesy of Fox Farm.
26JUN2021 // So I lost faith that the seeds were going to take. This is my first attempt at growing and I was convinced I messed it up at the beginning. Checked today and I have my seedlings!!!!!!! I even had to go through some diaries to make sure these looked like *my* seedlings and not something I picked up outside [these were used previously for my squash plants....until the chickens ate them.] Feeling real good about this little success.
06/26/2021 // I moved Gorilla Glue 'Jenna' into the Mud Room. I dragged in an old swing-set from outside [the previous owners' left it when they moved] and set that up as well. Originally I had planned on using this as a makeshift trellis for some of my climbing-veggies outside, but the chickens ate them. So here we are. Instead I used it to hold up my 1000W LED light. I am able to adjust the distance of the light from the plant reasonably easy. I tried to get it as far as I could, which was only 22inches. I was hoping to push a bit more since the high wattage, but this will do for now. I draped one of my tapestries around the back of the set to enclose it more. I took extra care to make sure the tapestry would not be in a situation where it could touch the LEDs. I taped [yeah, I said it, TAPED] some aluminum foil along the inside of my makeshift Hippy Tapestry-Teepee to help reflect the light on the plants, along with setting up aluminum foil 'mirrors' along the interior of the fabric pots. I then watered this baby thoroughly with my 3mL/gal Big Bloom mixture until all of the soil was moist.
I did a terrible job writing little notes on the happenings of every day for the ladies. However, it's pretty simple. I did move Jenna to the Green Room/Stoner Den/Garden Room. I was able to better arrange my set up in that space. We had quite a humid week and then after nonstop storms it finally let up so the humidity stayed pretty high and eventually tempered out. Fans were kept on, windows open, great air flow. Saw some nice growth from the little nub she was before. Feeling real good!! Jenna likes to stoner-lean to the side though which is neither here nor there.
I watered her about... every two-ish? Days? I'm sorry I cant give you an exact number, but I have a small yellow watering can, I think it said 56 ounces? So maybe half of that every few days to keep the soil moist.
The set up has been changed *slightly*. I no longer have my tapestries around it [that was a one day thing], but instead this crappy aluminum tent I got as a gift [it's a whole thing ya'll] is being used instead. Just ripped that bad boy down the middle and wrapped it around to help with reflecting the light around my plant.
My temperatures for da/night and humidity are rough estimations. I Want to average out what the week was but currently my thermometer blue tooth is being stupid.
This week was a bit up and down in regards to a lot of things. The beginning of the week was extremely hot and humid, with temperatures getting into the 80s and humidity following. Night offered little relief. We finally got our storms about Wednesday, but we kept losing power because of the Grow light. I went and turned it off during the storms and we didnt have anymore issues. Other than that everything went well. I test the moistness of the soil with my fingers, and the fabric pot itself to determine if the plants need watering. So far we've been averaging every two days I give Jenna half of my watering can. I increased the amount of Big Bloom I am putting in the water by just a single ml/gal.
This week was good. Loving how she's looking. The nights have been a bit cooler so our 16hr light schedule eventually shifted back to 24hr.
I personally love the coloring. Under the loght the center of the leaves are this beautiful bright green and then darken out as it goes further out.
This week was good. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have a dying SOP i moved under the grow light too. Jenna is doing real well.
I laid DE along the soil and lightly peppered it over the leaves. I'm thinking of trying out LST next week.
I tried topping this week and by the end of it it looked like it eent smoothly!
So i tried my hand at LST and augh. I did it at the beginning of the week and at the end. I hate it. I hate cause i think it looks awful. Im still learning and the girls are still growing but jeez. Dont laugh ya'll. I also did a bit more topping to allow current growth to strengthen. Seemed like a good idea.
I didnt have any issues with LST and Jenna. Im quite pleased with how she looks. I think she'll be happier this week.
I also let the plants get dryer than i usually do. I tend to over water my plants so i made myself wait lol. Also, a friend told me it would strengthen the roots which is nice.
Moved the oscillating fan into the room.
I gave Jenna a gooooood watering today and Im hoping she gets thicker next week.
7/31/21 - heavy watering after dry spell
8/2/21 - LST Jenna looks real good. Light watering of purified water. Lollipopping/defoliation at the base of the plant, removing the small straggler leaves.
8/3/21 Heavy flush of the plants. Ro water only no fertilizers. Plants are drinking more now.
8/6/21 - Heavy watering of Jenna with the mixture listed above.
At the end of this week i was really impressed with Jenna. She was slow to take off but now shes my favorite.
We will be switching from Veg to Bloom next week. Let's see what happens
08/07/2021
Switched from Veg to Bloom
16hrs light
8hrs night
08/08/2021
Watering of plants
5ml Buds n' Blooms and Cal mag
08/10/2021
Another watering. The plants are thirstier this week.
08/11 - 08/13/2021
No power. There was a terrible storm that caused a ton of damage. Our neighbor's tree fell on our fence leaving a giant hole. Our power went out for two ish days. No lights, no water.
08/12/2021
Moved plants into the backyard so they could get some light and air circulation.
08/13/2021
Power comes back on, water is running again.
Brought the ladies back inside to resume as normal.
08/14/2021
Heavy watering.
I changed up my set up a bit. Tore everything down that I had up and rearranged the reflective siding to better wrap around everything.
I added reflective stuff to the bottom as well, trying to ensure the light hits as much of the plant as I can.
I made it impossible for myself to get ventilation to the girls, and also to water. Which, because I'm a lazy creature, made me put things off.
But also, I have one dog, two kids, two cats, three ducks and eight chickens... I'm busy too.
About every other day I was watering. They're growing HUGE and drinking HEAVILY.
I've been using the mixture of CalMag and Buds n Flowers [Fox Farm] in the 5ml portions each.
I was awful about keeping on track with the light. Some nights I left it on too long, some mornings too long off. We will see how that affects us at the end.
Jenna got HUGE... well, TALL! I am impressed with all of the potential bud sights she is offering. I also trimmed her up today as way, cutting away the fan leaves that are blocking some of the lower pistils.
Also, Jenna is starting to crows into Stenny's space which may be why she is kind of small in comparison. Or, just different strains. By doing that I was able to release some of her tied down ends.
This made me realizes that next time I will probably only do one plant at a time so I dont have one hogging all the light from my small grower light.
I gave them a heavy watering of my above mentioned Water solution today as well.
