I'm very happy to announce that I've been selected for "Spring Cup by RQS" 😍😍😍🎉 Second year as grower and first time with this strain. I wanted to wait for the month of June to start but I was way too excited so here we are. (Hope the weather will be clever with me since I don't want two more microplants 🤣 as my other diary) This journey will be interesting for me since I have never used nutrients as well as I have always transplanted in the garden soil (no big pots); so all NEW for me. 💡 My PLAN is to make a sort of challenge/comparison. Two plants: - One will be transplanted in the special RQS 15L pot and I'll use all provided nutrients. - The other one will be transplanted in the garden soil and will not receive any nutrients (so, as I use to grow usually) At the end of the journey we will see together if there are difference and draw our conclusions. I will update the diary once a week and in particular the first day of each week. "Day 0" will be assigned when the first leaves will come out from the soil. So, thanks again RQS for the big opportunity, Follow my journey and let's pray for good weather. #OUTDOORGANG #PRAISE_THE_SUN - DD Ps. Let me know in the comment which differences do you expect after the final comparison 👀

22/05/2021 - Day 0 - First day of the 1st week. The journey begins. Both babies are alive! 😍 I'm going to use the following "names" for differentiating the two both in comments and pics: 🅰️ - "A" for the one that will be transplanted in the garden soil and that will NOT receive any nutrient; 🅱️ - "B" for the one that will grow in the pot and that will receive nutrients. "A" is 0 days old, while "B" is 1 day old, but for simplicity we will assume both with the same age starting from "0" today 😊 👉 The plan was to wait some time before transplanting, but since I want all to be optimal with "B", and since I'm growing an Automatic strain, I decided to transplant her in the final pot as soon as possible (in fact the pot still allows me to move the plant outside/inside depending on the weather); so I filled the 15L "RQS Geotextile Fabric Pot" and prepared the soil with 50g of "Easy Boost Organic Nutrition" by RQS and proceeded with transplanting. 👉While "A" will remain in pot for at least one week more before facing the life in the garden soil, which is not so easy for small seedlings IMO. Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny hot days 🤞☀️ - DD

29/05/2021 - Day 7 - First day of the 2nd week. MEMO: I'm using the following "names" for differentiating the two both in comments and pics: 🅰️ - "A" for the one transplanted in the garden soil and that will NOT receive any nutrient; 🅱️ - "B" for the one that will grow in the pot and that will receive nutrients. 👉 "A" is spending right today her first day in the garden soil. I transplanted her yesterday right before the sunset and covered also a part of the stem since it was a bit too long. Looks healthy. 👉 "B" is just chilling in her pot. The stem grew too much so I had to add some soil in order to cover a part of the stem and don't let the baby bend, but about the rest she is doing good. They're BOTH spending also spending the night outside from 2 days ago. Temperatures are acceptable during night. Now I have to build some kind of portable shelter in case of storms. We will see what I can do. Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny hot days 🤞☀️ - DD

Probably suffered a little or maybe she is focusing on the roots, idk. She is little if compared to "B" but she looks healthy so lets' go. 👉 "B" is GIANT! compared to "A". Can't say if the reason is the pot, the fertilizer, the luck or just the difference in transplant time, anyway she is flying 😂 Stem a little bended and unstable because he overgrew and had to cover it last week but not a big problem. Summer has come, sun is warm, all perfect. This week I'll probably proceed feeding "B" with "Easy Grow Booster Tablet" by RQS. Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny hot days 🤞☀️ - DD ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── UPDATE 10/06/2021 - Day 19 👉 After a lot of rain starting right today 7 days of feeding with "Easy Grow Booster Tablets" by RQS for "B" as planned. 👉 Also started some LST for "B", not for "A" because I think she is still to small :(

She is still to small for LST imho so I'm waiting. She is healthy so let's go 👉 "B" is still GIANT! compared to "A". Can't say if the reason is the pot, the fertilizers, the luck or just the difference in transplant time, anyway she is flying 😂 As reported with an update during last week, I started feeding with "Easy Grow Booster Tablets" by RQS. And I also started with a first light round of LST. Summer has come, sun is warm, all perfect. 19/06/2021 - Day 28 - First day of the 5th week. MEMO: I'm using the following "names" for differentiating the two both in comments and pics: 🅰️ - "A" for the one transplanted in the garden soil and that will NOT receive any nutrient; 🅱️ - "B" for the one that will grow in the pot and that will receive nutrients. 👉 Started LST also for "A", 3 good spots for the flowers. She is starting flowering right today. Smaller than "B" but I'm positive. 👉 "B" started flowering basically the 2nd day of 3rd week. Isn't this a little too early? Didn't have time to optimize LST so now I have to remove fan leaves in order let the sun light reach all the flowering spot. Definitely not satisfied with the training. Started right today feeding with "Easy Bloom Booster Tablets" by RQS. Hot and sunny week, zero rain, we good 😁 There is just one problem (is this a problem?): I think ants created a nest under both plants. Do I have to worry? Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny days (and friendly ants ahah) 🤞☀️ - DD ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

There are more than some ants walking around under and sometimes also over my plants. Also there are small holes in the ground so definitely there is a nest under my babies? Do I have to worry? Are ants a problem for cannabis plants? Thanks in advance

I have encountered the same problem and apparently there are different kind of ants with different interactions. Some grow aphids on your plant, in this case you have to do something asap. Just look under the leafs for them. But if you are fortunate to have a passive kind , just let them be. But monitor constantly.

Training went well and she is stretching in the right way. There are few spots in good positions and all can be reached by sunlight, very happy. 👉 While not so happy with "B". She basically forgot to stretch! The fact that she started flowering too early probably pushed her to skip the stretching step, IDK. As you can see from pics all spots are compressed and one over the other. I tried to keep going with LST but also if I bend the stem, THEY DON'T STRETCH! And they are short! So. Not happy 😖 Continuing feeding with "Easy Bloom Booster Tablets" by RQS. About ants, seems that they are passive, hope they keep this behavior and not going to farm aphids on my Gorillas 😅 Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny days (and friendly ants ahah) 🤞☀️ - DD ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

She probably already stopped the stretch and dimensions will remain these, but as you can see from the pics bud sites are evenly distributed and all exposed to the Sun🌞 Used just some LST to fix few side branches in a better position. 👉 While not so happy with "B". I repeat what's written in the last week report. So. Not happy 😖 This week I also tried to bend the main stem vertically to see if somehow she was able to redistribute buds and leaves but as you can notice, basically nothing changed. 😖 Continuing feeding "B" with "Easy Bloom Booster Tablets" by RQS, putted right yesterday the second tablet in the water. About the ants problem, seems that it solved himself. Found out the nest is right under the smartpot, but till they do their stuff without hurting mine, we are friends 😅🤣 Wish me good luck and let's hope in sunny mild days (and friendly ants ahah) 🤞☀️ - DD ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

🅱️ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── " B " ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── 🅱️ 01/08/2021 Day 71 🅱️ This is harvest tab related to "B" 🅱️ MEMO: 🅱️ - "B" is the plant that has grown in the pot and that received nutrients. Unfortunately my fears were real. The deformity of the plant caused by lack of stretching brought to a megabud. Megabud means moisture and no airflow inside. As you can see from the pic most of the inner part has rotten😥 I saved what I could and in the end I had to throw away half of the potential yield😥 In the end we have 7 dried grams. I'll take it. Still don't know what was the cause of the lack of stretching. Now curing and then I'll enjoy and update with effects. ☀️ "WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT FROM THIS EXPERIENCE?" 👉 For sure nutrients are useful and I think next year I'll consider buying some. 👉 Also probably autos outdoor are already enough stressed and so stressing more with LST could be a not wise choice. Now curious to see the outcome for "A" 👀 Peace. - DD

🅰️ ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── " A " ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── 🅰️ 28/08/2021 Day 98 🅰️ This is harvest tab related to "A" 🅰️ MEMO: 🅰️ - "A" is the plant that has grown in the ground / garden soil and didn't receive any nutrient, just water. Here comes the end of this journey. In the end we got 10 grams from "A"; I expected a little more to be honest but it's ok. About the comparison with "B", here we got basically the same structure of the plant, a little bit more stretched but basically the same. I think here we didn't have rot problems because of the smaller dimensions of the buds and the consequent better aeration. Finally I would like to thank Royal Queen Seeds and @James for this amazing opportunity, I hope there will be more contest like this in the near future ☺️ Also thanks to you all of the GrowDiaries family for following , hope my experience will be useful for some of you ✌️ ☀️ "WHAT WE HAVE LEARNT FROM THIS EXPERIENCE?" 👉 For sure nutrients are useful and I think next year I'll consider buying some. 👉 Also probably autos outdoor are already enough stressed and so stressing more with LST could be a not wise choice. 👉 In case you are stingy and you want to only use soil. sun and water, as you can see the results are not fully optimized but we are not that far 💪 Peace. - DD
