This grow was started in my old grow space which was a smaller PA speaker but now I’ve upgraded to a Bass Amp. I’m starting this diary late at 9weeks. The plant was only moved into this space at 5weeks. I plan to put two plants in next time. Before now I’ve only grown using CFL lamps. Because I’m in a limited space my light is in a fixed position so I lower and raise the plant instead as required.
This was when the plant was first moved to new grow space. I had to do a good bit of defoliation on week 4 as the plant was getting too big for its old space.
Things seem to be going really well and plant is looking very healthy, enjoying it’s new grow space. I’m watering every second day and giving nutrients on every feed. I water the plant until I get around 20% run off in the tray. My plan is to further reduce nutrients this week and switch to just PH’d water next week.
No major changes this week but the plant is still taking 2ltrs of water every 2nd night. I have stopped giving nutrients now so it’s just getting Ph’d water. Some of the lower leaves are turning yellow as expected. From this week on I’ll be dropping the temperature a bit during lights out to help produce more trichomes and also turn it a bit more purple.
Everything is going good. There were signs of possible light burn on the highest buds so I’ve raised the lamp by a further 5cm. Lower leaves are going yellow and starting to fall off, this means the plant is diverting resources to bud growth and letting the leaves die off. This is a good thing. Pistils are still white with only a few with tips starting to turn (not amber) a lovely orange colour. Trichomes are still mainly clear.
12 weeks old today and everything is looking really good. I think there’s around a week left maybe. Half the pistils are amber. Most trichomes are frosty now. No real sign of any amber trichomes yet.
This weekly report is two days early as I’ll be chopping tomorrow night. I’ve been checking the trichomes closely everyday and they are exactly where I want them now. I’m gonna give one more flush tomorrow morning and then put in darkness for 12 hours. I’ll be using ice cold water for this last flush. The idea is to shock the plant with cold into producing more trichomes before harvest.
This is the toughest, most resilient autoflower I have grown. If this plant was a bit slow or small it was my fault. It spent its first 5 weeks in a non-suitable space. For those 5 weeks it was in temperatures of 10 or 11 degrees during lights out. It grew too big for this space. I have ‘defoliation’ as one of the training techniques but that’s only because there wasn’t an option to pick ‘hacking’. This plant went through light source changes, grow space changes, change of nutrient brand during flower, being hacked and a slight dose of cal-mag deficiency but still produced beautiful looking buds. The smoke is smooth and it’s what I call a proper stone. Reminds me of Amsterdam in the mid 90’s. I will definitely grow Purple Punch Auto again soon just to see how much better it does in a more stable environment and to see how much more it yields in a larger pot.
@DoDrugs420, hey dude. I’m an old dude and the stone off this Purple Punch reminds me of Amsterdam in the 90’s. It’s hard to believe it’s only 18%. Feels way stronger than most weeds out there in their high 20’s THC wise.
Good looking plant you have there. This is one of my favourite strains. If you let the trichomes get to 20% amber you will really enjoy it much more. Good luck with the rest of your grow and have a great harvest. 🌱😎👌
