This is my first grow in almost a decade, and also my first time using autoflowers. I have a shortened growing space, (5ft) so hopefully, I can keep them nice and short. I've yet to train any plants ever. So hopefully I'll get the hang of it. Germination was definitely ez pz. Used 24hrs cup of water, then transferred to paper towels in a container to allow taproots to reach about half an inch or so. Planted directly into final containers.

They were planted in FF ocean forest. I added a supersoil concentrate I found on amazon. I also switched lights from a blurple "450w hps equivalent" self-cooled LED to a viparspectra xs1500. The blurple light just did not seem like it had the output I was expecting, and the seedlings seemed to barely know it was there. I was definitely overwatering for a bit in the beginning which may have stunted their early growth but theyre much better now. It's my first time with fabric pots and I'm not too sure how I feel about them. I do think that they make it easier for oxygen to reach the roots, but im having a hard time figuring out how often/ how much to water. I honestly haven't seen runoff even 1 time so far. I give each plant around 125 - 175 mL each time I water them, and they are dry an inch deep into the soil within ~24hrs. but that translates to roughly 1 watering per day, at which point they start drooping a bit. I'm thinking Ill try to aim for watering them around every 36 hrs or more, but I'll use about 250mL. If anyone reading this thinks I'm thinking about it way too hard, let me know lol. I have more experience than anyone should ever have with poorly draining substrates, so I can tend to be a little to careful sometimes. my water also seems to be sitting around 7.5-8.9 pH (if my meter is calibrated properly), so I'm going to start adjusting that as well (5.9-6.6 pH will be my target.)

Adjusted ph to 6.2 and added cal-mag. no other changes really. They don't seem to weep as much when i water them like this, and theyre drinking a decent bit more.

I found these spots in the orange circles on my first couple set of leaves. Hoping it's not some type of pest. maybe the lights too strong? burning? thanks in advance using viparspectra xs1500 at 70% , 24" height

It’s nothing bad. It looks like the leaf was injured as it was forming and as it grows in its just tearing. The plants look very healthy and happy growing!

just starting training. most likely going to buy a scrog. I realized i calibrated my pH meter using tap water for the calibration solution rather than distilled. Hopefully its calibrated okay at least so that the plants dont suffer.

Is it too late to scrog? They're autos so I didn't know if I wanted to top them or not so now i believe it's too late to top em. I should still scrog them regardless, though, right? The scrog arrived in the mail today.

I would leave as is for now. You have trained them. If in a few week you feel you need one you could do.

Will my viparspectra xs1500 have enough coverage once these plants get larger? Or will I need supplemental lighting? And if I do need more, am I better off getting the larger model, or just getting another identical unit so that I have 2?

Hi mate, you only have 2 plants so yes you will have enough light for them. They can take more if you wanted to get an extra light. I had a p1000 and decided to get another p1000 for my 80x80. It's better to have too much light and have the option to dim them maximizing the amount of light you can give. Getting the same model will give you an easier understanding of how much light your putting out and in what area. Plus it looks great. Hope this helps 🙂

How much should I be defoliating right now? I've been attempting to apply the lollipop method but it's painful to keep pruning. I don't know how far to go. There are some fan leaves that are yellowing and limp towards the bottom which don't recieve as much light. Clip em too?

Hi there, not recommend to defoliate if there isn’t a good reason to do.Like do some defoliation to lower down tent humidity,to make a good air flow if too bushy.Defoliate some leaves If they are damaged or shaded below the canopy.May be some lollipopping if there are too many popcorn buds underneath.Other than those, shouldn’t do.Those fan leaves are acted like extra sources of energy for plants.Only recommend to defoliate at the start of flowering circle and again at 3rd week of flower or at the end of stretching period.Later that period ,you shouldn’t stress the plant anymore and let her grow happily until harvest.Happy Growing... ✌️

They look a little small to me at 4-5 weeks. Am I wrong? I think maybe the living soil wasnt rich enough. They have started flowering, so should I drop my lights another 6 inches or so? Thanks in advance, these are my first autos.

Hi mate, they're looking good! I'm at a similar stage to you and tried to up the light. I'm using 2x p1000 for mine at 60% 18" above canopy. I can tell it's a little too much for them as they go to "sleep" a little early. The last time I increased I got some purple stems near the top. Which also confirms to much light. I'm keeping it at this to prevent too much stretch. Based on my experience and how your plants are looking (great btw!) But I can see a little purple stems so I wouldnt increase that dramatically. I'd say you're at the right range for now. Hope this helps 🙂

Just about to finish up I think. If you're reading this, let me know if it looks like I need to defoliate more. I've just found mixed info on how sensitive they are, so I use a lot of caution. I definitely wanted to remove more, just didn't know if I was stunting growth or not.

What are all these burnt edges from? One of the burnt leaves is from the perimeter, so I'm not sure how it could be receiving enough light to burn. I also have a small amount of yellowing towards the bottom. That's normal during flowering if the low-light leaves die, right? Thx

When you water you should water until you get run off. I noticed your only giving it cal mag. She could do with some base nutrients like a bloom formula.

Hello, I'm having trouble figuring out if I should harvest right now, or not. All of the leaves are yellowing, but you can see in the photos that there are still plenty of white pistils and the trichs are still only around 10% amber. don't want the buds to start yellowing too

Hi I would say your flushing a little early, wait for 80-85% of the pistils to go brown then start flushing

Yellow climbed all the way up both plants. Been flushing for a while. Trichs seemed to be maturing very slow, since the sugar and fan leafs were already yellow and crispy. About to harvest even with only about 15% amber trichs. Should reach normal maturity while drying and curing. I'm going to give them a full 48 hours of darkness before the chop.

Loved growing this, the smell can't be beaten, plus they are hardy plants. With a strong enough lamp, they'll stay under 2 feet easily. Seem very resistant to problems
