At Day 12 I transferred the seedlings in pots. The auto strains were moved in their final pots(~10L) whereas the Cookies Gelato were moved in smaller pots(~6L).
Cookies Gelato and Northern Lights Auto are doing amazing, Fat Banana Auto is growing at a slower pace.
Hopefully by the end of the week the plants will develop more nodes.
So far so good, cheers :)
Week 4 started with some rainy days, hopefully by the end of the week the sun will come :)
The plants are growing strong, especially the NL auto.
Cheers
I starter the week by topping my Cookies Gelatos and low stress training my Northern Lights Autos and Fat Banana Auto.
Since it's my first time topping a plant I'd like some feedback :)
My plants are growing vigorously, I'm so happy ;)
Day 32: I've moved my Cookies Gelatos in bigger pots (~30L)
Have a good one everybody
My autos started flowering these last few days and I discovered that I mistook one of my Cookies Gelatos with a Northern Light Auto. Basically at day 6 the seedlings fell from the window and the order was changed so I had to guess the original order. Now I have the right answer xD
Anyway, plants are doing good. I look forward to smoking them :P
Week 7 - so far so good :)
I transplanted the Cookies Gelato I had mistaken for a NL Auto in a bigger pot.
A couple of days ago I was LSTing my Cookies Gelato #2 but I accidently snapped one of the colas, almost entirely. I quickly grabbed some scotch tape and tried to fix it... Later that day I saw that some of the leaves of the cola were dieing and I was so angry at myself. The following day I went on a three day trip.
Yesterday I came back home and I was shocked to see that the branch had fully recovered, it literally looks as if nothing happened... Unbelievable how strong these plants are.
Thank you for reading and have a good one
Week 8 - some of the lower leaves are becoming yellow indicating some type of nutrient deficiency (I believe Nitrogen), it could be also some stress derived from insufficient watering or really hot weather, I will try to fix it later this week.
Fat Banana has a really sweet and banana-like smell, amazing!
My autos are 1 month away from being ready to harvest, I cannot wait ;)
Week 10 - I gave my plants some Advanced Nutrients fertilizer (bloom to the Autos, grow to Cookies Gelato) and the plants look a lot better, no more yellowing leaves.
My Cookies Gelato #3 is in bad shape because I used some crappy soil, I will fix it during this week.
Fat Banana Auto and Northern Lights Auto are almost done, I think I will harvest in the beginning of August.
Week 11
Accidentaly I broke a branch from Northern Lights Auto #2 and I had to remove it, I'll tell you how it tastes :)
I'm going to harvest the Fat Banana Auto in some days.
Plants look fine despite the hot weather
Have a good one y'all!
When the seedling sprouted it was the smallest and it was yellow in colour. Regardless of its start, the plant grew vigorously producing dense buds covered with trichomes.
It smells very good, very sweet and fruity, it smells like a mango, very tropical. However it does not taste how it smells, it's an earthy taste with a bit of lemon.
The high in not as strong as I expected but it's still pretty good considering it's an auto. It smokes very good.
I would definitly recommend this genetic to anyone.
Week 12 - I have harvested Fat Banana Auto, Northern Light Auto #1 and #2 last week. Next week I will harvest my last auto.
Cookies Gelato #1 and #2 are doing amazing: no yellow leaves, no pests, very tall and strong plants.
I have transferred Cookies Gelato #3 in a pot with fresh and rich soil, I hope the plant will recover so that in October it will have grown to a decent size.
Day 86 - I performed a mild Defoliation/Lollipopping on my Cookies Gelato #1 and #2. Same seed, same substrate, same light etc. but these two plants show a different growth, Cookies Gelato #2 looks pretty impressive considering that it's got 70 more days of life.
Easy growing, average smoke, 6/10 recommended for beginners
EDIT 18/08/21: after three weeks the smoke got a lot better so I'm writing a little update and I'm posting a photo
NL #1 did not have a good smoke 6/10, it had a lot of leaves that I couldn't remove and the high was very light so I smoked half of it and the other half I stored for hash.
NL #2 came out quite tasty 7.5/10: sweet and a nice smell of mint and citrus with a nice high, quite potent and lasting, it gives a nice euphoric high.
NL #3 is being cured and smells the same as nl #2, I will update in a couple of weeks.
I have harvested my last Northern Lights #3 today whereas NL #1 and #2 were harvested on the 29th of July.
This strain is really strong and easy to grow.
Depending on how good you grow it, it can give you different results: some plants had a good smoke some didn't, on an average I would give the Northern Light strain a good 7/10.
The smell is pungent, spicy and citrusy. The high is quite strong and gives positive energy.
On NL #3 there were bud rods that ammounted to 1/6 of the whole plant, I quickly removed the rot and saved some flowers that I will use to make some hash.
This is my last time growing NL, I need something tastier and stronger in effect, but I will smoke this while I wait for my cookie gelato ;)
Day 94 - approximately this week my Cookies Gelatos starter flowering.
I think I will perform a mild defoliation these next few days
The plants are doing good, nothing to update
Have a good one :)
Week 14, day 99, the second week of flowering has started, and it shows on the plant.
It looks like Cookies Gelato #1 has started flowering before #2 and #2 started before #3.
Look at the photos from above, I cannot wait to see when flowers will be enormous and lots of them!!
Of course there is no weed smell yet but the plants have a wonderful smell of mint and lime.
I'm also still trying to LST the plants even if they are mature, just to get a bit more light.
Approximately two more months and I'll be ready to harvest, I think the yield will be terrific.
Have a good one everybody :)
Day 105, week 15, the third week of flowering, has started today and the plants show different levels of growth.
Cookies Gelato #1 is producing flowers very fast whereas #2 is slower and #3 much slower, see for yourself in the photos.
Yesterday I gave the plants some Epsom salt via soil watering and also sprayed some on the leaves to correct the Magnesium deficiency that came with the flowering stage.
The flowers have an amazing smell: at first it reminded me of cocoa lip balm then it was vanilla and now it has a clear smell of citrus mixed with vanilla, it is so sweet that now I understand why the strain has gelato in its name, fucking glorious.
It's my first time growing feminized seeds and I'm loving this journey, every week I learn something new about this wonder plant, I hope to make this hobby my occupation one day.
Thank you for following, I will share some updates in the next few days, have a good day :)
Day 107 - Yesterday I spotted some aphids on my plants and I decided to take action: I used a water jet to wash away the insects and their eggs. Then I put a plant of Pepper Mint, a plant of Mojito Mint and one of Basil near my Cannabis plants to repell unwanted insects. I also wanted to spray alcol on the leaves but I think it's not worth it. In the next few days I will try spraying a mixture of Marseille soap and water on the foliage.
This morning I did a much needed proper defoliation, I removed the biggest leaves, the lower branches and the flowers that would not get enough light.
Cheers
Week 16, fourth week of flowering, day 114, September has begun with lower temperatures, less sun and some rains.
Cookies Gelato #1 is really deep in its flowering stage, the flowers are growing every day.
Cookies Gelato #2 has grown a lot during vegetative stage so I think it will take her more time to finish flowering.
Cookies Gelato #3 had a rough start but it has grown to a decent size and it's my tallest plant, I think almost 2.30m.
Ten days ago my plants started to develop purple branches, I hope it's due the lowering temperatures and not to some sort of deficiency.
Cheers
Day 124, week 17, 5th week of flowering, plants are doing very good.
I could not properly care for my plants because of a strict work schedule so at last today I made some LST and defoliation.
Temperatures are below 20°C but the plants seem to like it because they look very healthy and also there was a substantial decrease in pests, those little bastards don't like cold winds!!
Cookies Gelato #1 I think it's 3-4 weeks from harvest so beggining/mid October whereas Cookies Gelato #2 and #3 are 2-3 weeks late so harvest for them will probabily be at the end of October.
See you next week!
Cheers
Day 131, week 18, 6th week of flowering, my plants are starting to pack on some serious flowers!
The hot summer is coming to an end, my plants say thank you! They surely suffered the hot weather; I live in southern Europe and every summer it gets hotter, this year we had a maximum temperature of 40°C.
The leaves start to fade, bud sites grow every day and sugar leaves are multiplying, I hope I get a nice yield so that I can smoke all year around.
As I said many times Cookies Gelato #1 is deep into flower but I guess it won't be ready untill mid october whereas Cookies Gelato #2 and #3 are 2-3 weeks late, pushing harvest time to late October / early November.
In the previous weeks of flower I spotted some darkening of the pistills in some bud sites of my plants, it left me concerned. Few weeks later and I'm happy to see that the darkening hasn't spread to orher bud sides and it has vanished in the majority of buds that were affected, the plants recovered beautifully.
Cookies Gelato #3 amazes me, it had a rough start but now it's the tallest of among my plants and it looks very healthy.
Cheers and see you in the next update
Day 137, week 19, sixth week of flowering.
I found some red spider mites on my plants and I proceeded to give two nice washes to my plants in order to mechanically remove the pests and then I placed some chopped garlic in the soil, I hope that helps.
Other than that plants are doing good.
Cookies Gelato #1 two weeks away from being harvested whereas #2 and #3 I will give one more month if not more.
Cheers
Day 149, week 21, eighth week of flowering, almost done!!
Plants are doing good but I regret not giving them enough nutrients, I ran out of nutrients back in the beginning of flowering and I didn't go and buy some because I thought my plants would do just fine. They are doing fine but if I had given them more nutrients they would have produced giant buds.
Yesterday there was a heavy storm during the night, it was so heavy that it woke me up at 3am, I quickly ran to my plants and placed them under the roof so that they wouldn't hurt. It was pouring, also a little hailsorm with lots of thunder.
Cookies Gelato #1 I will harvest this weekend, whereas #2 and #3 will be harvested in the end of October.
Easy grow but needed a lot of attention during the switch from veg to flower and early flower. Had some minor problem with aphids and mites that didn't cause any noticeable problem.
Strongly recommended.
I have just harvested Cookies Gelato #1.
I cut the branches then I submerged them in water and shaked a little, I hung them in my room and then I cut most of the fan leaves.
Room temperature is about 22°C with 40-50% humidity, I think it will take a week or so for the plant to dry completely.
It smells nice and the tricomes where milly/amber so I think it's a nice timing.
I think this plant will yield 90-110gr dry.
I will keep you updated. Cheers
EDIT 22/10/2021
I harvested Cookies Gelato #2 and #3 two days ago.
#2 was a bit disappointing: it had a lot of branches but the buds are small, evidently I should have made a better job at lollipop/defoliation.
#3 has very big buds and they look very juicy.
They should yield about 100gr for #2 and 40gr for #3
nice....NL is a great strain,,got a cpl on the go myself..one tent, one outdoors..finished off a chiquita banana not to long ago..not sure if similar to your banana...good luck with the grow.....enjoy.
@DevilsBud, I have put aside my Fat Banana so that It will cure nicely for a month or so, right now I'm smoking the smallest northern light and it's not bad considering that it has dried for only a week or so.
Cheers
