👉I have only grown cannabis indoors. I have been growing herbs and things in containers on my back patio. So I decided to try and see how the Sweet Seeds Green Poison Auto would fair along side my herbs in a 4 gallon pot. I placed the seed in a solution of H2O2 and RO water for about 18 hrs. At 18hrs the seed was still floating (air bubbles on the shell kept it afloat) and the shell had split with the tap root showing. I placed the germinating seed in a sterile cellulose towel soaked in the H2O2 solution, folded the towel and placed it in a small cup, covered that cup with foil and placed that foil covered cup on the warm area above my cable Tv tuner in the entertainment center. Checked 18 hours later and the tap root was about 1/3", so I placed into the soil. It emerged 4 days later. Its been slow since its emerged, there has only been two days of sun and cloudy and rain all the rest today is day 12 total. I expect it to take off quickly once the sun shines more often.
👉Soil is nothing special, used dirt from last years crop of basils and peppers, mixed with last grow sessions coco coir and clay pebbles. Didn't do much prep beside mixing in the wheel barrow. I will be giving same nutrients as the indoor plants, but not as often. Summers here are hot and dry, the concrete patio gets sun from morning till mid afternoon, when the trees on other side of yard shade the area till an hour before sundown. The pots on the patio tend to dry out fast and need water as often as 2x a day. I have a timing misting/drip system I may set-up to help me keep the plants alive. But the sun and heat isnt the only peril these plants will face. Bugs...every kind of bug you can think of has shown up in my patio grow. Especially caterpillars and aphids. I Never spray any chemicals on my plants, but I will use Jacks Bug Juice and may check out some other organic stuff. Insecticidal soap works good. I aslo will use a solution of H2O2/dish soap/tap water for direct attack on the plethora of garden pests that will pay me a visit. I have found that spraying any of these remedies will stop a flower from blooming, Lots of pepper blooms lost this way. So if the Green Poison gets any remedies of this sort they will get it before flowering cycle starts. I have found that if I am vigilent that perimeter remedies work the best. That is to say creat a perimeter of death for any pest that thinks my plants look tasty. I will never use Neem oil on the plants, but its a fantastic perimeter remedy. It has to be re-applied very frequently. So a chemical perimeter will be applied after every rain. Then I will be spraying Neem all around the grow area on the concrete itself and the sides of the containers. I will need to spray the Neem every couple of days to really be effective. Ive done it with my Basils and peppers with great success.
👉Its rained all but two days this week. Its growth rate has been ultra-slow-motion so far. The plant isnt getting full sun in its current location. Gets sun from sun-rise to mid day. then its in the shade of the massive Maple trees in my yard. I added about 8oz of the early growth nutrient mix mid-way through the week.
👉This plant is really going slowly. Like suspended animation slow. Its day 19. I dont think this will be harvested at the 8 week mark. My guess it will take 80 days, if it survives, maybe longer. Im not really concerned with this plant being a great performer, too many negatives about the grow environment to hope for much. I am growing outside because its legal, and because I'm taking a break from my indoor grow until I finish a couple of other projects around the house. I'm hoping to enjoy the ambiance of relaxing in the pool and look at my herbs growing next to the pool.
👉Day 26 (6-26). Its slowly gaining momentum. The sun has been shining and its starting to get hot. Have not seen any pests around my herbs, but my Orkra plant has has repeat visits from the aphids. I have treated that plant with Dr Jacks Bug juice, which is very effective at combating them very quickly. I continue spraying Neem oil around the area and the sides of the pots, but none on the plans themselves. I gave the plant one fertigation on day 23.
👉The amount of effort Ive put into this plant seems to be equal to how much its grown. Its sort of comforting knowing that it will probably be as small and underwhelming a plant as most of the Diaria of the month "winners". and I'm finally growing a half-assed pathetic plant like most of the popular people on this site. This underwhelming plant is going to motivate me to get my indoor grow going again sooner than I planned. While the plant is tiny, it is strong and in good health.
👉Rain for 5 of the last 8 days. I gave the nutrients only once during the week on a sunny day. No pest issues...yet. The rest of the plants on the deck are also pest free. But my Okra plant is being attacked by aphids, its in a rolling pot and is being kept away from the herb pots. I have been aggressively fighting them, but they are persistent and I'm not using anything but non-toxic methods, so it takes persistence on my part as well if I ever want to have a plate of killer fresh okra as part of a cannabis induced munchie meal. The plant has doubled in size and the pistols are out.
👉Started gaining momentum in its growth as it started to form flowers. I have been giving a week solution of vegetative nutrients and will be switching to a stronger flower solution mix starting tomorrow. The leaves are looking a little malnourished so the strainer nutrient mix will help. Im also adding some Epsom salt to the soil surface. Strong main stem and not much branching out. No plans to top it or do anything else besides letting it grow and doing my best to keep the pests away.
👉Seems to have stopped stretching. Going to be a true grow diaria quality plant. Not as fantastically awful as the dreamit that has won 3 contests with one incredibly shitty plant of only 5 grams. What the fuck is the point of contributing to this site when it promotes spamming hacks that grow incredibly shitty weed. There are dozens of growtards just like that halfwit and they are rewarded for spamming everyone and growing garbage. Narcissism and garbage reign supreme on this site. This plant is on par to be such a shitty little plant it may win something. I guess I better get busy spamming people and acting like I am an amazing horticulturalist.
👉Feeding daily. The plant has no branches to speak of. The lowest leaves have been affected buy the occasional small grasshopper. I expected an onslaught of pests, but so far its been very minimal. Unlike my okra which is being attacked by aphids. But better on the okra than the sweet leaf. The flowers are starting to stack up. Still a tiny plant. It is a direct result of the lack of effort I put into this plant at the beginning. Its shaping up to be a typical grow diaria plant.
👉To my daily surprise there hasn't been much in the way of bugs on the plant. Obviously partly due to the plants own defense mechanism. Even a basil plant next to it has had a catalpa worm attack it. My Okra is in a large pot a few feet away and has been under siege by aphids for the last month. I have seemingly got the upper hand on the aphids on the okra and its finally putting out some flowers.
👉The plant is small and basically the average size of most of the Diaria of the Month winners. Its sort of embarrassing to grow a plant as shitty as most of the Guru's and grand masters on this site. My grows are littered with their spam as they have taken using spam bots to a new level. I wonder when/if GD will ever try to stop this hackery and start to promote quality gardening and not the garbage that wins contest after contest. Same folks over and over with sub-par self aggrandizing nonsense and the occasional random grower given a token prize. I stay on here just to watch the train wreck and marvel at the world wide acceptance of half ass narcissistic garbage. Its really too bad, this site is the best grow diary format out there. The format is why I stick around as well. Documenting my grows has led to constant improvement and understanding of what I'm doing. That's why its so amazing the insiders that are perpetually rewarded, still grow shitty weed after dozens of grows.
👉The plant has been bulking up. The aroma is strong, but not as strong as the purple basil blooming next to it. I know this because my wife hasn't complained about the skunky smell on the super sweet aroma of the basil. The bugs have still avoided this plant. So far so good. The leaves have some speckles on them from over-spray of either the garden hose or my H202 remedy that I was spraying on the Okra plant a few feet away when it was sunny. Its a proud happy little plant.
👉Found a couple of caterpillars on some of the larger leaves early in the week. I removed them then treated the outside of the pot with a mist of neem oil as well as the entire concrete area around all the plants. No real damage done, just a couple of larger lower leaves. Haves seen any since I applied the neem to the outside of the pot. The Buds are slightly fox-tailing. The pistols are starting to change from white to brown. There isn't much to this plant but it is producing one good big bud.
👉I have kept the caterpillars and other pests at bay. The leaves are starting to look haggard. Most pistols are red. Haven't looked at the trichomes in a couple days. There was only a scant few amber's that I could find and all the rest have been milky. I will be taking a closer look each day. My target is 20% amber's, maybe more. Has a nice fresh cannabis stank. Too bad it cant get some of the basil terpines because the combo is euphoric. The buds all fox-tailed. Not unexpected, its over concrete on a bench about 6 feet from two air conditioning compressors and I put minimal effort into the media prep. I'm sure it will still get me high. One week or less and its harvest.
👉The plant was sturdy and healthy, and performed as well as could be expected given my level of effort given to this plant (minimal). Had a lovely generic aroma and bright green flowers. I harvested at almost no clear, and 10% amber trichomes. The cured flowers at 6 weeks have a pleasant mildly sweet and earthy aroma. The aroma burst forth when pinching off a bit to load in the bong, with added hints of pine and berry. The taste is very pleasant and the hit is smooth. The taste at exhale is piney sweet with a bit of the earthiness of the jar aroma.
👉The buzz is creeper, and as it starts to hit it takes off. A very strong heady buzz that is calming yet intense. Fades nicely without a sleepy crash. I'm glad I have more of these seeds, which were graciously supplied by Sweet Seeds, because I will grow this plant again and do it up right so I can witness the plants full potential.
👉The purpose of this grow was simply to fill a space in my outdoor patio garden and see what it might do without much attention. The media was used coco mixed with used potting soil. No amendments and no regimine of nutrients. I did provide regular nutrients, but they were mixed for drain to waste style so fairly week for intermittent feeding. The area the plant resided at was near the house HAVC compressors and on a large concrete slab. Miserable hot area. The herbs like the basil thrive in the area, but they also got more attention and nutrition than this plant.
👉The plant foxtailed at the end. I could have let it go longer but there was enough amber in the trichomes (about 10% no clears) and the damned grasshoppers had become a nuisance. So I harvested it. Gave the plant a rinsing in the morning to clean the plant. I harvested it in the afternoon when it was all dry. I wet trimmed and left on a drying rack for 2 days. When put in the jar the humidity stabilized a day late to 56%. Slightly dryer than my target but that makes zero difference in the short term. Stored in the wide mouth storage jar with a boveda 62% pack.
👉See my review above for the details on the overall assessment of the strain and the final smoke report at 6 weeks. Final dry was 30g. oddly I cant ad dry weight to the final stats. Smallest plant Ive ever grown in my life.
@Weird_Jimmy,Sounds very nice!!! And you seem to be ready more than ever to keep your plants happy healthy and strong. I also use herbs around my outdoor grows to help deter pests. Keep up the amazing progress. Cheers!
@HAPPY91, I have a multi-faceted approach to dealing with the incredibly amazingly vast and diverse cavalcade of insects that visit my patio garden every year. I avoid ANY chemicals around the plants, but I do occasionally spray a perimeter of barrier insecticide around the area. But that actually has minimal effect. I grow a variety of herbs primarily in my garden. multiple basil varieties, and some other herbs. Most of these herbs are pest deterrents by themselves. Only a few different species of insects ever bother most of my herbs. So this plant will be placed in the middle of my herbs. I also use Neem oil, but NEVER will spray it on any plant that is for consumption ever. Its organic yes, yet toxic and understudied. Neem is a wonderful perimeter/barrier treatment. It evaporates quickly though and requires frequent area sprays. I keep it in a 1 gallon pressurized sprayer and spray the concrete area around the plants, the rack the plants sit on, and even the sides of the pots themselves. When I have aphids I knock the evil little critters off with a small pressurized spray of de-chlorinated water. Then I use H2O2 with Dawn soap mixture on the undersides of leaves and saturate the soil. If they are a particularly evil group of demon aphids I use Dr Jacks Bug Juice. Unfortunately anything chemical, even spinosad, that I've sprayed on vegetable blossoms, kills that blossom. For leafing plants, even organic sprays, halt the growth node growth for a few days, so I will avoid spraying anything on the Green poison except the de-chlorinated water or a weak soap/H2O2 solution followed by a rinse. I will even attack the aphids with tweezers. Ive grown on the patio for years and I'm ready to do battle with mother nature.
@Weird_Jimmy, Get those yellow sticky traps all around and also look for local birds that eat those pests and buy a bird feeder with there favorite foods. I notice birds really help a lot and the sticky traps work great for all the smaller little buggers!
@Organic_LarF, the temperature isn't the issue, if it was, the only place that might be stable is another state. its been raining or totally cloudy all but 4 days total since it was planted 19 days ago. glad it isnt suffering from over saturation. The pot its in has really good drainage. Thanks for taking the time to actually read my diary.
Thank you very much for trusting our strains, and sharing your experience.
And thank you very much again for the score of 9 out of 10!! 👏😍❤️
We hope you enjoy the harvest 👌
Sweet smokes!
