Not a stellar week and I think I've identified some issues which I've outlined below. 1. Sowing in straight coco with no perlite + overwatering + small drainage holes = taking too long to dry causing root zone to be too moist. Could explain drooping, downward curling + leaf spots. I read that N tox causes downward clawing, but the yellowing as well as only getting a light feeding tells me otherwise. 2. pH drops aren't as reliable as I'm thinking, and I think my pH is out of range causing deficiencies. Could explain discoloration and unhealthy leaves/growth. I might have gone too high, then too low causing large pH swings. Drops suck because at this point, I'm not confident what my pH is. 3. I think I might also be light on the feed, and I could have probably started full strength nutrients earlier. Could explain the yellowing going on. As you can see in the photos, I've gotten prepped to transplant and have a 75/25 mix of coco-perlite in my 5 gallon fabric pots to help with providing more oxygen to the roots, as well as ensuring it dries out in a timely fashion rather than retain water for too long. I also have rooting hormone powder I picked up which I'll be sprinkling to the insides of the holes when I transplant. I also have a pH pen on the way which should be here tomorrow (Dr. Meter brand), so I can get a more accurate reading and eliminate that possible problem of being out of range. Other than that, I do apologize for being late on the update. I've been swamped with work, kinda leading to being neglectful (evidently). I'll be sure to update on time for week 3, which should be July 1. At that point they will be transplanted with happier roots, well fed, with a more dialled in pH, so I'm hoping to see them bounce back! β˜ΉοΈπŸ€’ As always, thanks for stopping by. You guys are the GOAT. 🌱 (Just a heads up too, I know I'm posting my update 3 days late, but the pictures posted are dated from June 24th so that's how they looked on day 14, just wanted to be clear, thanks πŸ˜ƒ)

What lighting schedule do you think I should use in veg? 18/6 or 20/4?

More than 18 hours of light is too much. 18 hours is already a lot for some plants, they wilt before lights turns off.

What are your thoughts on Lux meter apps? The app on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ is showing 16,600 Lux at the tops of the seedlings, and converting that to a rough PPFD shows 222.55/umol/s/mΒ². Reading more, 15k-45k Lux and 200-400 PPFD is good for early veg. What are your thoughts?

Yeah that’s good for newly popped seedlings. On the light meter apps - I highly recommend ” Photone β€œ app. It’s been reviewed against the benchmark several hundred dollar apogee light sensors and is surprisingly accurate. If you look up on MIGRO light meter apps on YT you can see the data on it. He tests several phone apps against the apogee. Photone was the closest to actual PPFD readings from the apogee device. Download is free but it costs to unlock the actual use of it. Totally worth it to me. If you do buy it- make sure you follow the instructions about putting a paper diffuser over top of it !

Well, I got home from work and it looks like they've all broken surface other than the one Citrus Bush but it's okay, take your time :) Since it's almost the end of day today, and I caught them popping up super early, I'll be counting tomorrow (June 10) the first day of veg!

@Cannabeast40, thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate it. I'm just uploading some new pictures now as I placed them in their paper towel homes. A couple have already cracked and are not shy showing their taproots!

@Lacrima, Thank you! πŸ™ Although I think we can both agree it's hard to be a sad grower. Even when we fail, we learn. Just like our plants, were always growing as growers. 🌱

U did great research and it shows. They are not streched like in other diarys. Light is spot on. They will thrive.

Appreciate the kind words, although I still have a ton of reading to do and so much to learn! It's always exciting learning new things and trying them out, seeing how things react. I have a few indoor grows under my belt using HPS lights and never cared about PPFD or Lux or anything regarding lighting except watts and heat control. Makes me feel like such a clueless grower looking back!

End of week 1 edit: Basically a PokΓ©mon Centre now. Only in week 2 and just like that, problems πŸ€’ Flushed each plant with pH adjusted plain water, and then gave them a full strength "early veg" feed (650ppm) to reintroduce the nutrients back into the coco. Hopefully they bounce back. Another thing I thought of was that perhaps I didn't put enough drainage holes in the cup, making it take longer to dry out and perhaps not getting enough oxygen to the roots so I put a grate under them to make sure the drainage holes have access to the air and not sealed against the tent floor holding water in the cups.
