Hello and welcome all!! So good to be back at it again. After the success of my first grow during the first heavy lockdown in 2020, a new love has been formed which I couldn't wait to refresh. For my second grow, I will be doing 2 strains from 420 FastBuds; Strawberry Pie Auto and Gorilla Cookie Auto. Having read some good reviews and receiving recommendations, these strains seem great! Should anyone have any advice, tips or tricks from their experience of growing either of these strains, please feel free to get in touch as all help is appreciated. Although I placed 3rd in the newbie of the month for my last grow (delighted by that, if you cant tell 😁) I am still very much a beginner. I look forward to hearing from you all and happy growing 💪
Week 1 for the Gorilla Cookies went as planned, no issues, no accidents, no problems 😅 I kept the propagator on them until yesterday and she is coming up nicely. By next week it should be time to start a small amount of Root nutes, but I will keep her just on water for now. I've been looking at a lot of nice grows for this strain so I'm aiming high with my expectations from this one! I will update the pictures later in the week when a bit more growth comes in. Happy growing 😁
Gorilla Cookie is flying it! She looks healthy, no issues with water or heat so far and fattening up nicely. I foresee some rapid growth in the next week or so. I will be starting the first round of nutrients next week, or maybe near the end of this week once things continue smoothly. Transplant and LST the following week and then she is off! Thanks for checking in and Happy Growing 😊
Another week of strong growth from the Gorilla Cookies. She is beginning to bulk up nicely now. I have started using Biobizz root juice and bio-heaven now and she is taking it well, no yellowing or excessive droopiness as yet, but I am only using half of the guide amount on the bottles, as my last grow should me that full doses are unnecessary. I will leave her spread for a few more days before looking to transplant to her forever home and starting LST. I've a feeling this will be a strong grow! Thanks for checking in and happy growing 😁
What a difference a week make! So shortly after I posted last week it became clear the ladies needed a new home as they just started to hit flower so I didn't want to put it off any longer. Transplant went flawless, no shock or stunting, as if they didn't even notice the move. On the contrary, they have both kicked on quite well. So well in fact that I started LST the very next day. They have both already responded well to the LST, but particularly the Gorilla Cookies. The flowering clusters at the bottom have gone into overdrive, especially with the start of a fuller nutrients cycle helping things along. I imagine next week will look even more drastic in terms of growth 😁. You really do miss growing when its not there! If the speed of growth keeps up I may post more mid week pictures, just to try and keep up with the new growth regions. Thanks for checking in and happy growing 👌
She's a chunky one! The Gorilla Cookies hasn't stretched as much as her cellmate but she is short and thicc! Bud sites are fattening very nicely and the smells have started to become clearer. The lack of vertical growth is puzzling as I moved her away a little from the light to see if I could encourage it but no joy. I think maybe a transplant or root tangle issue, but nothing major to worry about at this stage as she is very healthy. Not as thirsty as the Strawberry Pie for similar reasons. Should be a nice stink off the pair by next week I'd imagine. Thanks again for checking in and happy growing all 😁
Oh boy she is a pungent one! The Gorilla Cookies are going strong. First sighting of amber hairs so she is definitely ahead of her XL counterpart but she is fattening up nicely. Between the smell and the end of the heatwave, I've been able to close my tent, lower the light and switch on the carbon filter so the environment is safe again. As the picture above shows, both plants had a surprise roomie in a pair of plantpot dapperlings. They are not considered harmful to the plants, a benefit if anything, but I have removed them just in case they get out of hand. Delighted with the progress and optimistic of a string harvest. Thanks for checking in and happy growing all 😁
She is staying small but packing on the weight! I think I have pinpointed her issue, as I was surprised that the "stunted" Strawberry Pie kept getting bigger than her. I made the mistake of not removing a chunk of the excess soil from the bottom of her roots when I was transplanting and I think it stopped her spreading as she could have. As the SP was transplanted second and I did remove soil from her end, it is the only factor I can think of. Another indicator of this is the amount of water weight the pot holds. For 2 weeks the Gorilla cookies has been getting nearly half of the water the SP has, yet every feeding time, the GC's pot is heavier. She is holding water and as yet I cant remedy it. Probably too late at this stage as she is producing apply, and she STINKS, but a good learning curve for the future. Thanks for checking in and Happy growing all!! 😁✊
Gorilla Cookies looking gorgeous! Thick and frosty already but still room to keep going. I gave her time to dry out and absorb some of the water the soil has been holding onto and she has reacted well. Some slight yellow tips on the upper leaf tips but I think that is down to the stun at the start. The temptation to chop early is strong for this one but I must hold my patience. Thanks for checking in and happy growing all 👍
Delayed update for this week, probably a few days over the week so that will be rectified shortly. Great recovery from a minor issue. The gorilla has been stunted from an under-ideal transplant. She has been nicely budded, but is small. However, it would appear after 2 weeks of sparse watering to correct the soils moisture, she has started flowering with white pistils again. Given she is already late into flower, I probably wont let this last too long as harvest approaches. Another lesson learned in this trial an error process so hopefully it wont happen again. Really looking forward to smoking her, she really does look and smell delightful!! Thanks for checking in and happy growing all 😁💪
Lovely strain to grow! Very chunky and dense buds, handled my excessive temps well and dealt with other imperfections in the grow like a champ. The smoke is delightful too. Strong body high, but very relaxing and giggly. Having tester her for this grow, this strain is well capable of stronger training then I may have pushed her, so don't be afraid to be a bit aggressive with LST and such.
Another grow down, another pool of knowledge swam! This was a tricky grow to balance, particularly with temps in my area at the time, but the Gorilla Cookie strain is extremely robust. The only lasting affect from the heat was a stubbier plant, but I think with stronger LST and more defoliation, this could have worked in her favor, as the buds ended up very dense, so I could have at least doubled her weight. I would recommend this strain to growers who have their setups dialed in and can take advantage of its potential. I have learned a great deal about this strain and cant wait to try it again. The smoke is delicious too with a strong body high for relaxing and a nice giggly effect with a kushy taste. I would have loved to include more pictures from after the chop such as scale weight, drying setup, jar curing, etc but I had some serious phone issues and lost nearly all my pictures 😔
To all the growmies who followed along and offered advice and guidance along the way, thank you for being awesome 😁 love this community, one of the better forums to seek helpful advice and an endless source of first hand information. Cant wait to start anew and hope to see you guys along the way ✊😍
