So this is the 3rd attempt at growing CBD Crack. The first two attempts did not go well. This time I went back to soil from peat. So far I think that has been beneficial.it has had the most growth in the shortest time out of all 3 attempts.it is also not showing any growth issues. So fingers crossed that round 3 is a winner. We have been looking for a good 1:1.
Week 2 is here and she is off to a great start compared to the last two times I attempted to grow this strain. This makes me happy because it means I’m finally growing a plant that will be viable instead of losing time. The biggest challenge ahead is keeping the temperature “low” as things heat up outside. 114F days are not easy to combat if you don’t want a monster electricity bill. So this summer will be a balancing act. Confident though as we have gotten through a summer before. The pot may be a bit large for the single plant, but I couldn’t get the second seed to pop, preventing a double grow in a single pot. I’ve already removed the plexiglass divider so the roots will be able to roam as they please in the whole pot.
Week 3 is off the s really good start. She is growing up beautifully. She is responding well to the low-stress training and light defoliation. Now that we are on week 3 we are starting the nutrient regimen. I’m hoping for a good number of tops with the current training.
She is really taking shape with all the training. I can’t complain really with the structure that has been achieved. There are a good number of tops to work with. Most of this week is going to be let her stretch more and wait to see if I won’t adjust any of her branches towards the end of week 4. She is roughly one foot by one foot across the canopy.
The update for week 4 is that she is turning in to a beast. I had to do some more LST and even bed two of the tops slightly to try and bring her height down some. She was 13 inches, almost 14 inches tall. My lights are already at max height so I need to make a as much room as possible for the final stretch. She is also nearly 24 inches by 20 inches across her canopy. She is making the most out of her situation, and I’m not going to complaint about that. The number of potential tops is impressive looking back at all my previous grows.
I can’t say for sure yet why she is a beast because I’ve changed some things from my previous grows. She is the 1st plant to go full cycle with 150W of light from seed to now. She is the 1st to also use an air pot. She is also from a breeder with really good genetics. I suppose it doesn’t really matter why she is doing an awesome job, just that she is. Week 7 will give our overall final form. Stay tuned. 😉
We are now in pre-flower. This means we will perform our first major defoliation. It went well, got rid of 90% of the flower sites below the top 1/3 to 1/2. I’ve had success in the past with other genetics, so I’m banking on these genetics to be able to handle that much stress done at once. I’ve looked at her since she was defoliated and she is still looking good and strong. I’ll have some more photos after a couple more days.
She is blowing up for her final stretch. Very happy with what is happening. 😀
She is exceeding all expectations and is a beast so far. The tallest branch is 24 inches tall. It’s a secondary lateral that overtook the main lateral it stems from. The second tallest branch is the main lateral supporting the 24 inch secondary. I’ve adjust the lights as high as they can go from the space I have. 12 inches of space is all that is left. She should be nearly done with all stretching. I’ve done some defoliation again this week to help expose the flower sites and prevent energy from going towards leaf development. She is on track to be the biggest plant I’ve managed.
Her true color is between the light green of the first 2 photos and the green of the 3rd photo. I can't take her out of her tent to try and get a less light saturated photo. She is a tall girl. I have no choice but to let her run her course on vertical growth. If any light bleaching occurs it should only be the tallest top that is impacted. I've also had to flush her do to some issues that were visible in the leaves. She will get a more regimented feed schedule to help prevent any more issues before the final flush to harvest.
She is a big girl and looking good too. Flushing her and reducing her feed schedule has stopped all leaf discoloration to this point. She is taking on a really nice citrusy smell when rubbing her trichomes. She has about a month to go till she is chopped.
Week 9 is the start of the final flushing as we push forward towards harvest. One last defoliation was performed to try and give the flowers as much light as possible and plump up some more. Every season there is something that I’ve changed. I’m getting closer to what I’m looking for based on how this girl has grown. I look forward to completing this season and applying the knowledge to the next.
This is the last official week of growing based on the trichome appearance. She will be cut down in a couple days making her officially a 10 week strain, based on this run. It does line up with most other autos I’ve grown, around 11/12 weeks to chop. I’m happy to finish her up and start the drying and curing process. Stay tuned for results in the coming weeks. I won’t post the harvest week until I’ve had approximately 3 weeks to dry and cure. Thank you FastBuds for the opportunity.
This has been my best grow yet in terms of size and yield. The plant was easy to grow and produced a nice amount of usable material. 5.1oz. of Flower and 2oz. of Trim. Would grow again. Thank you FastBuds.
