this picture was at 58 hours since seed planted directly in soil, which is combination worm cast and peat. I added the seed to water for less than a minute to soak and made a 1/4 to 1/3 inch deep hole. For a strong start I packed the soil above somewhat tight. When I watered I created an outward flow in a single direction to encourage roots to spread quick and outward.
I have been away for a bit since my last diary, which did not flower well. This time I hope my choice in autoflower seed is helpful, as well I am considering liquefied nutrients, particularly for the final bloom stage.
I am basically adding water as needed which works out to about 1 liquid oz every 12-18 hours depending how hot outside, all natural light. natural water. I see lots of detail in the leaf, excited, but lack of light is making her long and skinny, I rotated the pot today 180 degrees and added a touch extra water for the night. Looking to a good day tomorrow, weather network is calling for sun all morning. I have some experience self learning photography, I hope to continue with better pictures every time.
i might have considered veg stage too soon. Next time I would like to get nutrients in better order. keeping focus on here for now. taking good to the feeding, it was 1 tbsp per gallon of soil, my eleven inch pot work out to be a 4L pot, So I added 2.25 tbsp top soil feed, misted and layered over with soil.
Today is day 22, I am not sure I can consider it week 3 of vegetation but I will be organizing by age not stage. Hoping to catch the bloom stage right on smelly day with bloom nutrients. Today is yet another day all clouds, below 23c. So I decided to go beyond basics. I added 1 fluorescent light bulb by Sun Blaster, at 26 w with 1,700 lumens and up to 10,000 hours bulb life. Full 6400 k power for propagation and growth. Equivalent energy use to a 100W regular light bulb and fits standard lamp socket size. Too add for extra reflection I relied on bud get wise thinking and am using a single layered reflective cloth that is a photo reflector. I cant find much on its use i n the garden so tomorrow I might decide to switch from silver side to white side for best energy reflection.
Day 25 - Under the FL 26W light with clouds she looked very primp but today with first hot sun in a while just a little dropping, Looking very nice dancing with the fan on. measured at 8 1/3 inches today
Today is Day 28 (4 weeks) - I had been looking around online for vegetation booster, I decided with the sodium based 5-0-1 nitrogen booster. An aggressive vegetation serving by General Hydroponics FloraMicro. My mix was something like 2.6? ml / 1.2? L H20. Not sure is they get the same serving tomorrow we will see how the evening goes. Last night I kept the 26W FL bulbs on till 2am. So will be doing the same on going. Considering maybe about two weeks left of the vegetation stage. I am looking at two things. 1 - do I want another portion of all purpose nutrient? and 2 - what about August? Will the weather be hot sunny and humid? or do I need to buy some 100$ heat bulb, not even sure if I will need a special lamp. If thats the case I could be ready for indoor.
Day 30 - woke up yesterday to a big surprise, evident aroma of spicy cannabis odor, so I added top soil food of the Gaia Green Power Bloom. Lots of clouds and absence of heat lamp has gradually stopped the aroma. Hope the Power Bloom is not too soon. So far she is looking just fine and the height has grown to 11.5 inches, canopy is 11 inches wide and growing fast in the pits of all stems if greenery. Keeping a close looks > Oh and the nitrogen booster Flora Micro is not added in the feed every time, I am going with one day on one day off (2.15 ml / 1.5L)
Day 35 - Enter week 5 - slight aroma in the AM. few fruit flies today. sprayed a few bursts of Doktor Doom. Not sure if its edible but the other brand Safely was behind a locked cabinet and required supervision to check out. I really wanted an organic product with pure neem, but the Doktor Doom says organic on it, so here we go, see if this keeps out the fruit flies, first saw only one about 10 days ago, today was 4 or 5 in Headband's pot, multi purpose pesticide for houseplants should do the j-o-b! keep calm and cannabis on.
Day 40 - another nice day over 12 hours close to 30c sun in the window. The smell from Headband is very minimal but considering I feed hald a dose or so of Power Bloom close to three weeks ago I added another half dose of top soil feed power bloom by Gaia Green. Also the fruit flies were back and I burst a few sprays of Doktor Doom, have to figure that flush stage.
Day 43 - Holding up well, took a few pix at the photographers golden hour (in the city that is when the sun is descending 3 degrees from the condo high rise).
week 16 - ready for harvest, all natural light = days of clouds and rain. under estimated water + bloom food = pH 4. Added 2 days of straight water pH 9.5 and 8.9. , down to water only pH 6.4
can t wait to grow again. I am shopping for seeds a lot, not buying just reading different web pages, some seed bank have awesome search filter, can really narrow it down quickly. I am looking at 600w HPS lights but every one seem to like the LED< no idea which to consider at this point, natural light can really be a good advantage. the strain headband is described in some source as really shooting up at 1/3 bud stage, and did I ever witness, she grew 1 foot in less than 10 days, I was literally amazed
veg week 2: a day or two before adding top soil of nutrients, I fed the plant at sunrise and with a strong enough breeze she burped. Leaving me to understand two things, one - regular schedule of feeding water is important, and two - maybe if she burped its ok to add the nutrients and hope for a good season.
Day 23 - 2nd day of 26W FL light bulb, canopy is a bit fuller and about 1/2 in. taller. She is drinking slow. Window site is very cool only 15c outside at mid day. I am guessing this is the front end of Hurricane Elsa, we just had 2 weeks of clouds from Michigan, another 2 weeks of clouds in the forecast. Time to look at grow tents, one on display caught my attention.
