Starting these outdoors and moving them to the grow tent to flower so I can better control the environment and smell. I haven’t been able to find much information about how successful this can be as most people start indoors and move outdoors. I’d love to hear about anyone’s experience if you have done this and I’m open to suggestions. My plan is to start two new plants every month outside and move them into my grow tent once the indoor plants have finished. Bringing pests inside is definitely a big concern. Both substrates are Happy Frog and were amended(2tbls/gallon of substrate w/ Dr Earth fertilizer-45%veg, 45% bloom, 10% AP, 1/2c Black Gold worm castings) then cooked for two weeks prior to sowing the seeds.

This is where they’ll live until my indoor plants are harvested. I’ll occasionally water them if Mother Nature hasn’t already.

Hit them with a dose of Recharge a couple times this week. The weather has been brutally hot and humid, but they look happy.

Top dressed with Dr Earth at a rate of 2tbls/gallon(40% veg, 40% bloom, 20% AP, 1/2c worm castings). They got another dose of recharge and I released 3,000 lady bugs into the garden to help manage pests. The GSC is starting to show some pistils, but the lemon is still vegging away.

Started Fox Farm Big Bloom this week and administered another dose of Recharge. Both plants are flowering now and starting to stretch, so I did some more LST and leaf tucking. They have some minor leaf discoloration and signs of pests, but nothing concerning at this point.

It’s the second week of flowering and this GSC is already getting frosty and sticky. She is dense, compact, and smells like sweet mint and gasoline. I have high hopes for this one…pun intended😏 The Lemon is quite lanky and showing it’s sativa dominance. No discernible odor or visible frost on her yet. I’ve given one dose of Big Bloom and Recharge this week and letting the rain take care of most of the watering. I leveled out the canopy with a little more LST, but the apical stem of the Lemon is growing like crazy. Next time I grow this strain, I’ll likely experiment with topping after a couple weeks of vegetation.

Things really took off this week. The Lemon Auto is still stretching like crazy but the GSC just keeps getting fatter. I’m anxious to transfer the GSC inside to my tent because the main cola is getting super dense and is maturing more rapidly than I anticipated. The humidity has stayed well into the 60s, so powdery mildew is a legitimate concern. There are few new signs of pest damage, but nothing out the ordinary for being outdoors. It seems that so far the lady bugs, basil, and rosemary have kept any major infestations at bay. Unfortunately, it will be another 2 weeks before my indoor run will be complete, so I’ll just need to keep my fingers crossed for now. Today they got their final top dressing of 1 cup of Black Gold worm castings and Dr Earth at a rate of 2tbls/gal(80% bloom, 10% veg, 10% AP). A few days ago, they got their weekly shot of Big Bloom and Recharge. Overall, I feel like things are on the right track. I’m super excited about the GSC. It still smells sweet and minty, but the gassy smell has developed into a smooth fruity/berry scent. She’s ultra sticky and keeps packing on the frost. The Lemon Auto is obviously going to go weeks beyond the GSC. It’s buds are starting to swell a little more and she has taken on a light lemon scent with a hint of skunk. I have a feeling she’s going turn into a real stinker in the coming weeks.

A shot of Recharge and Big Bloom again this week. The rain has taken care of much of the watering. Buds continue to swell, but no big changes other than that. The GSC will get moved indoors in about a week when my Green Crack is done drying in the tent.

GSC is getting the chop in a couple days. Trichs are at about 10-15% amber. It’s not huge, but the buds are rock solid. I noticed what I thought was bud rot at first, but it looks like something bored a hole straight through one of the lateral buds. I’ll be doing a quick dry on some of the salvageable node beneath for fun. She smells like lemon and sweet fruit, with a hint of mint. The Lemon buds aren’t all that impressive so far. They’re medium dense and super leafy. The trichs are about 90% cloudy, so I’m hoping they bulk up soon.

Harvested on day 60 after 2.5 days in dark. Thrips were becoming a real problem toward the end, but she crossed the finish line. I was hoping to move her indoors for the final weeks of flower, but I was drying an indoor run and she finished much sooner than I anticipated. I had to remove another branch due to bud rot. Fingers crossed that I caught it before any spores spread🤞 Final weight will be updated after dry and full review to follow post-cure. Thanks for checking out my diary. *UPDATE* Trimmed after 8 days of drying. Sadly, I had to remove a few more buds due to rot and what looked like some spider mite webbing. I’ve been researching bud washing to implement for all future outdoor harvesting. I was left with 17 grams of quality bud in the end. She would have easily produced an ounce had I not had to remove so much damaged bud. I’ve sampled a small amount so far and I’m very pleased with the quality. I’ll save the details for review after a solid cure.

It’s been a rough final week for the lemon. I’ve lost nearly the entire main cola due to bud rot and pests. I picked off a family of some very stoned caterpillars this morning. She’ll be getting chopped within the next few days after I move her into a dry tent to drop the RH and get some major air circulation going. I’m hoping this will mitigate any further rot and pest complications.

Harvested on day 71. Since I had so many issues with pests and bud rot, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to experiment with bud washing. I used three 5 gallon buckets with 32oz of hydrogen peroxide in the first, 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/2 baking soda in the second, and plain water in the third. It proved to be very effective in removing spiders, caterpillars, and a shocking amount of caterpillar poop. I’ll be using this technique for all of my outdoor harvests from now on. I’ll update final weight and review after dry and cure. ✌️ *UPDATE* Ready to trim after 5 days of drying. 33 grams of medium dense bud that smells like lemon and gasoline. Post-cure final review to follow in a few weeks.
