This week was mainly about making sure there are no leaks in the RDWC system. I germinated the seeds straight in to the easy plugs and placed them in the the net pots surrounded by clay pebbles. The Fastbuds genetics did the rest and came through with a 100% germination rate.
I will leave them running on clean water for the next couple of days. I will be making sure to monitor ph balances closely.
In regards to oxygen for the roots I constructed a waterfall system with added air stones from my air pumps to cater for healthy root development and sufficient oxygen.
Even though I have a lot of light in there, I have them all dimmed down to their lowest percentage.

Hi there. Your on my favourite grow method. I usually let the reservoir run for 10 days. About 12 to 6 hours before a change I add some florakleen to the stem and let that run around until I dump for res for fresh. Every other change so every 20 days I empty the res and half fill it and add florakleen and let in run through the system for 6 hours, then I put fresh nutes again. I like keeping my system fairly full so I would either top up with water or nutes depending on what Ec reading I got. You want to be running at ph between 5.5 and 6.5 and you won't need to feed heavy on an auto. Increase ec 0.2 to 0.3 every change until you hit an Ec of about 1.3 and thats probably the most the plants will take.
This week was mostly about getting everything ready for the vegetative phase.
I will start to add some nutrients this week. I will first flush out most of the old water that has been running through the system for about 2 weeks now.
When the plants get a little bigger I will add some nutrients and try get my EC level up to around 0.7 with the help from the very supportive people over at EHG nutrients. They have offered to sponsor me through this grow with nutrients which will be of great help. They are a local South African company, so for any one from South Africa 🇿🇦 please check them out.
I have added an oscillating fan to add to the airflow en strengthen my seedlings whilst they start to grow stronger.
Due to my humidity being a bit lower than what I want it to be, I have decided to add an air purifier/humidifier which will hopefully add some humidity to the tent. I am aiming for about 65% RH and will be monitoring this closely.
My lights are currently at 40% strength.
I am making use of a panel heater to break the winter cold and will be aiming to be at around 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit).
I have added an Mycelium bag which is an alternative way to add extra co2 to your grow. This helps the plant to absorb nutrients better and handle the temperatures a bit better.

What would you guys recommend as an alternative way to up the Humidity level in my grow tent?
I need about an 10% increase.
Please advise if you have any suggestions.
Your plant will not be able to tell any difference and high humidity levels are not needed for successful cannabis cultivation.
I would consider 55% more than appropriate and once your plants grow and there is much more vegetation, your humidity levels will rise, so no need to buy humidifiers or stress out, they will grow just fine under their current conditions. Humidity domes are also not needed, cannabis is not a rain forest plant!

This week my main focus was on getting the humidity higher and the ph levels stable.
I am currently trying to maintain a oh of between 5.7 and 6.1. The system was very stable this week and overall I was pretty satisfied. I had some ph fluctuations early on and it seems to be a thing of the past.
To up my humidity I have added a small 4l humidifier and some damp towels. It seems to be working and hopefully humidity increases as the plants grow.
Had a small calmag issue that got rectified pretty quickly.
I added a couple of humidifiers to hit that optimal RH. We upped the EC a little bit as the plants got bigger focusing mainly on micro and grow (high nitrogen).
This week we kept everything pretty steady in terms of EC and PH levels.
We focused a bit more on training as the week went along and the plants are reacting well.
The biggest challenge is keeping the environment steady, but the humidifiers seem to be doing their thing.
