Well this week has been eventful!
The week started off ok with some steady growth in both height and foliage, however the plants height soon came round to bite me!
I’ll be honest, I don’t have the best or most powerful light so with my inexperience I had the light hanging a little too high which caused some stretching.
So Wednesday afternoon I go to check on the ladies and I found them both slightly leaning because their stems are a little too long and too thin for their height. I did panic a little bit I had a think and I used a support stick and tied them both up to keep them upright and it seemed to do the trick.
So I turned to Instagram for help as I’ve met some wonderful people on there already! After some enlightening conversations with some very helpful growers, I was advised to carefully transplant them over to a larger pot and bury the stem below the medium to provide more support. So that’s what I did.
To try and rectify the situation, I’ve brought them both outside in their larger pot, given them a root drench with some liquid seaweed (7.5ml per 4.5l) and I’m in the process of making them a rushed outside planter with some wire fence and a Sainsbury’s trolley! Innovation at its finest!
I feel the natural sunlight will be far more beneficial to their growth than my weak light, but have no fear, I’ve got a MarsHydro 600w incoming which should be here in the not too distant future. I feel I need to get myself a better rooting nutrient though, I thought I had one but alas I don’t!
I am curious what’s going on with the colouration on the Wedding Cheesecake though, if anyone could let me know that would be great!
Now my concern lies with whether I’ve caused too much stress on these ladies but fingers crossed they’re some resilient little plants and power through!
If anyone has any extra tips I am all ears! I’m absolutely loving the journey so far and each day is another lesson for me!
