Hello all! Working on my second dairy. This time I decided to grow four Super Skunk Autos and two Royal Medic seeds but the Royal Medic's did not do well at all. One of the Royal Medics grew its cotyledons and then stopped growing. The other seed never germinated and failed to grow out of the rapid rooter. I ended up deleting them. To be honest, I think I had a bad batch of seeds because I grew one of these Royal Medics (they came in a 3 pack) earlier this year and had a lot of issues with the plant even though it did make it to full harvest. Bit of a bummer, I enjoyed the Royal Medic and these were my last seeds of it, but because of the difficulties, I don't think I'll attempt them again. This dairy will be about the Super Skunk Autos.
I use rapid rooters to germinate and then move them to my small seedling tub once they pop. My method is a top-fed DWC. I grew one of these Super Skunk Autos (came in a 5 pack) earlier this year and it did not auto, so I'm unsure if these will not auto as well. I plan to only grow one of these to full harvest, the strongest of the bunch. Going to wait another week or two to decide which one since I did growth stunt it a bit by not tenting it right away. My last harvest was a bit of a record for me so I had to use two tents to dry the bud and did not have a tent to put this one in right away. I was impatient and decided to start the seedling phase outside the tent, thinking my bud would be dry before the seedling phase was over. However, by not having it in a tent it was too hard to control humidity and they did not grow quite as fast as my plants usually do. Because of this, they are a bit behind in growth. I was able to get it into a tent about a week after they popped and I noticed an immediate improvement after 24 hours of being able to control the humidity better. Just goes to show how important that humidity is during this delicate stage, lesson learned!
Thanks for checking out my grow! See ya next week. :)
The seedlings started to get into Veg and I was a little late on training them. I performed the 1st topping on all four before choosing since I couldn't decide yet. They were growing so well that I decided to keep the number two and the number four plant.
I was busy this week and couldn't attend to her as I needed. You can see by the 16th, the two colas are pretty tall and should have been super cropped this week. I kept two SSA's from the seedling bunch and gave each one her own tent since they both looked really good and I do like the smoke of this strain. I'll put in the comment on the photo of which is which to keep track of how each does individually.
Since these are autos, they started showing pistils much sooner than the first time I grew this strain. The first seed didn't pistil until I flipped the lights. Both of these started pistiling around the same time. I didn't do much training this week, as with autos, I want to leave them be and stretch. They are shorter than I'd like, but nothing I can do about it. SSA1 has a mushroom co2 supplementation, and is clearly bigger than SSA2. They were equal, but this makes me think the mushroom co2 is worth it. I did some light defoilation to uncover hidden bud nodes. I also increased the light power to full 300W, from the 150W for veg.
I went on a trip and wasn't able to tend to these. Luckily they survive on their own for a while with this setup. I defoliated as bud production started and I need to uncover all the bud sites that leaves are covering up.
Another week. She is stretching pretty well and filling out for an auto. I usually don't like defoliating so much, but I was forced to this week again as the leaves just keep growing and I need the bud sites to get the light.
I had to leave her alone for this week as I was away. She does pretty well alone with the setup I have. She stretched quite a lot this week and defoliating took me quite some time with all the branches growing out of my 8 main cola's.
