Kept things warm with a temp controller and a heat belt.
2 seeds popped but one was much slower than the first and caught a bug of some kind and dampened off. Tossed her.
Sooooo…
This is the week that I transferred from coco to DWC!
And so glad I did!!
This is looking like a much easier plant to maintain.
This is also when I did my first topping. Chopped off the main head after 5 nodes.
Having a bit of tricky trouble with climate control now. Just learning how to maintain a tent with a Small DWC bucket.
Fun!
Roots can be seen taking a liking to their new environment and although there isn’t too much signs of healthy veg growth, under the hood she’s happy AF.
Found the bucket empty the other night!!
Gotta keep a close eye on the levels in such a small bucket. The bucket only needs 6-8 litres for a good DWC.
Bubbles, and feeding/transpiration is sucking it up!
Also discovered this week that my humidity sensor was completely busted and reading a consistent 30-35% higher than actual ambient RH. Wonderful!!! 😒
Gave her a big haircut and a tuck/tie down in the last day of week 6. Nice before and after photos.
Perhaps the nicest training I’ve achieved on a plant thus far.
Hopefully this will set her up for a nice flip and stretch.
She’s bounced back from a bit of environmental issues (bad RH sensor). Loooking good!
Towards the end of week 7 of veg she just ripped open a new level of growth, just exploding.
I gave her a good haircut to finish off the week and trimmed away lots of fan leaves and some lower lateral branches that just didn’t look to me like they were going to help being there.
Wouldn’t amount to much. And taking up space in the tent.
Flipping in a few days
As per a friend’s recommendation…
For about 36 hours before flip, I had the plant in total darkness. I also applied a foliar feed just before lights out with aloevate, a touch of marine and- rhino k. Yup!
Well when I came back to turn the lights on and start 12/12, I saw leaves praying strong. Incredible.
He also recommended the double dose of Aloevate (10ml/L) in the res for this week.
“To help with the stretch”.
During this week I also redid the plumbing, and installed a feed and return line from the DWC bucket to the 50L res. because the plant was drinking 3 L/day…had to refill it every 2-3 days when it was getting this big.
Working really nicely now. I also put in a clear tube on a T piece to act as a level gauge.
Now that the 50 litre res is there all plumbed in with a looping pipeline, things are much easier. I barely have to go in there at all. Just once a day I check the ph in the res and correct as needed.
Had to chop off a few lower branches this week that were just too low down to really justify staying around.
The smell on my fingers after every time I pull off a few fan leaves is just WOW 🤩
Ok! Here we go.
Defol’d lots from the bottom in the last few days. Even removed a few more lower laterals that just didn’t make the cut. Too much shade on ‘em.
Bent down the tallest branches as well, again, and tried my best in that tiny space to get in there and tie down with the Velcro straps.
I would say, a fair chance is the nicest, most uniform canopy I’ve ever had.
Loving the smell. Like I’m walking through a blueberry ice cream factory and someone is baking a cake in the corner.
But that’s only when I pinch off fan leaves and smell my fingers 😂
