Seeds in a cup of water for 18h, then transferred to paper towel on a ceramic plate.
Seedlings started in a mix of 8 gal. pro mix hp, 2 gal. gaia green worm castings and 24 tblsp’s gaia green 444 all purpose.
When transplanting to 3 gal. pots, one plant will remain in pro mix and the other will be put in mo’koko to run a comparative test to see which substrate I prefer. I didn’t have mo’koko in time for the seedling stage.
Switch lights to 18/6.
Repot plants into 3g fabric pots.
Mix in 30 tbsp of 284 into original substrate mix.
Mix 13.2g mo’koko, 3.3g worm castings, 49.5 tbsp 444 and 49.5 tbsp 284, 6L perlite.
This will be a little test to see how they grow in the two different mediums and whether or not I have a preference.
First time growing autos, was surprised to see flower start so quickly.
Continuing with LST.
Posting these 3 weeks at once because I got lazy. Forgot to take a picture, this is another auto I’m growing in the same tent and a week younger, so close enough.
Top dress plants with 6 tbsp kelp meal, 6 tbsp mineralized phosphate, 6 tbsp alfalfa meal, 3 tbsp 284 power bloom, 1/2 cup worm castings, 1/2 cup pre mixed medium.
Both plants have had some yellowing leaves though it looks like the Mo’Koko has gotten more. Buds seem to also be a bit bigger.
Mo’Koko plant looks pretty bad. Most leaves yellowed up and died, buds have a lot less trichomes on them but bud size is okay. Not sure why the top dressing had no effect.
Pro-Mix HP is doing very well. Good leaf colour, good bud sizes and trichome production.
Added 4 tbs blackstrap molasses and some banana peel soaked water into 16L and will use that to feed them the next few days.
Watering every 2-3 days, buds and trichomes look good. Plants still getting heat stressed. Leaves look like shit because of it. Switched the lights to 12/12 to help reduce the heat.
The leaf damage continues on the Mo’Koko, trichome production is much worse but the buds are fat as hell.
Pro-Mix trichomes are frosty and have good density.
Managed to lower temperatures by placing a fan outside the tent with vents opened on both sides.
Sugar leaves burning off the Mo’Koko.
Pro-Mix doing well.
Between my 4x4, outdoor grow and this, I over extended myself on time. These girls didn’t get the best treatment but I learnt my lesson and some good basic info on how the dry amendments work and perform between the two mediums.
4x4 has been harvested and these girls will be next in a week or two.
Seeds are from Crop Kings. I was surprised how small the plants grew (first time with auto flowers) but they produced good buds. The plants were over fertilized and given minimal attention and still gave me a good buzz post harvest. They grew in a very hot temp. and did fine, very easy to grow.
Pro mix - 20.5g - dense buds covered with trichomes, good strong high. I’m very happy with the turn out of this plant.
Mo’Koko - 19.35g - buds are okay, didn’t turn out as nice or dense. The high is strong though so I’m happy!
So to sum up this grow, we ran 2 very small auto flowers in an ultra basic setup with minimal effort put in. We tested out Gaia Green organic dry amendments and ran two different mediums, Pro-Mix HP and Mo’Koko. I believe now that I over fertilized but am happy with the results anyways. Pro mix won this first round of testing.
Now it’s time to see how round 2 goes in my proper 4x4 setup with some feminized Agent Orange photoperiods.
