I also used some LST "clips" I 3-D Printed. I learned that she grows too fast and I had to print several sizes in order to keep up.
Started the nutrients and got some slight discoloration. I beleive that my "Maths" is off. I got a dropper now that will help me get the correct amount for next time.
I also learned that you should start nutrients in much smaller doses to see the plant will respond.
Still only using 3-printed LST clips and pipe cleaners for the training. Things are starting to shape up. I moved the light up a few inches to keep it a safe distance. Starting to smell like toxic or "very gassy".
Last stop before changing over to flower. It is a Jungle in there. If you are wondering what that "Rocket" lookging thing is in the background, I found a tube squirt gun at the dollar store and it is great for removing the runoff water.
A lot happened this week. First, I flipped the lights to 12 / 12 and did some much needed defoliating. My CAT is CRAZY for those leaves. I wanted to save them, but she had other plans.
Also, Setup a homemade SCROG Net. I am a "DIY'er" so of course I just used what I had lying around. It is paracord. I changed the nutrients to the bottle's recommendation for "Transitioning to bloom".
It would appear that flowering_mode.exe has been executed successfully! I made a few adjustments to my "poor mans net". used a few 3d-printed LST clips to redirect a few of the nodes.
Did some more defoliation and moved the NET up about one and a quarter inch. I Moved the light all the way up as this was the week before vacation. I watered it really well before I left and hopefully it will be alright with no water for 7 days. Fingers Crossed!
Well, after one week of me being away and my plant not getting any water, I came home and opened up the tent and it was horrendous!!! I immediately accepted that she was TOAST!. Additionally, I get home and my entire house was 80 degrees!! My HVAC unit had frozen up and was no longer cooling. I immediately mixed my nutrients and completely skipped the pH test and gave my plant 1/2 gallon immediately. I came back 30 minutes later and she WAS ALIVE!!! I am so appreciative. And, SHE GREW like 6 whole inches!! The "net" did it's job and each little flower has it's own section.
Some of the lower leaves were completely dry, so pruned those off. In the end, I have her a FULL 1 GALLON and it never once filled the overflow. I will give her more in the morning.
I also added some Dr. Earth "Homegrown Organic". The directions for this was 3/4 cup per 10 sq feet. So, my "maths" figured it would resolve to a few pinches. I added it to the water for the second 1/2 gallon feeding. It appears to be doing fine.
I am thankful that she is still alive and for future questions from other growers, your plant CAN survive a week without water, although not recommended and not during flower. Maybe I will get lucky and she will NOT hermie on me because of this. (fingers crossed)
I am so satisfied with the progress so far. Not a single spot or discolored leaf and the temps are better for this stage than during my last grow. Knock on wood, so far so good.
This week it seems to have stopped stretching completely I have seen no movement upwards and no real movement outwards either. Hopefully it will fatten up in the next two weeks before harvest.
I just started reducing the amount of nutrients to prepare to flush.
This week not much growth. After I reduced the nutrients, I noticed there were discoloration on the inner part of the leaves. I've since flushed or fed it twice with just plain pH'd water and it seems fine and there is no further discoloration
Seriously though, it's looking really really good.
For my second grow, I am OVER THE MOON!! I just yielded 16.1 ounces (wet trimmed) from a single lady in a small 23"x19" x 48" DIY tent.
The strain; Mandarin Cookies v2 from Ethos Genetics, was very easy to manage and did not have any issues even in my small space. It was really difficult to determine the run time, it suggested 9 weeks from the breeder, I ended up going almost 13 weeks!! the trichomes stayed white
