As I currently don't have the money to buy a growing light I decided to put the babies outside as much as possible when the sun is out. I was afraid they wouldn't get enough light and they seemed to be stretching. For now I keep growing without a lamp.

Grow Questions

At the moment I dont have a growing light and all the babies get is sunlight (about 15hours). Will this be enough? They are sitting at the window with a humidifier to keep them moistyyy.

They don't need a humidifier, save your money. Cannabis is not a rain forest plant, but a (mainly) lowland dry season plant, growing with minimal humidity. Sunlight is how cannabis has been growing since forever, they will be fine. Glass will stop UV light, so putting them in direct sun would be better for growth. 15 hours will be fine, they need to get to a certain age before being able to flower. Next grow, I would suggest filling your pots right up to the top. This gives vastly more room for root growth, plus your plants will get a lot more reflected side light. As can be seen in the Northern Light Day 2 picture, how much shadow this plant is in and how little light gets to it by being so deep down in the pot. Being so deep down can cause excessive stretching. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Can anyone tell me what caused the burn mark in the picture (week3) ? Would like to learn and improve! 😇

The cotyledon leaves tend to yellow and die off as the plant matures, in this case I'd say its natural. At an earlier stage the browning could be caused by PH issues, overfeeding, spraying water with lights on etc. (None of this seems to be the case here, but just for reference)

I'm thinking of doing LST on the plants but not sure if it's a good idea because they already bending like crazy trying to get the little sun there is lately standing on the windowsill. Any advice would be appreciated! 👽

Hi hun 💚 I would say leave any LST until you have a little grow light as when you open her up she will struggle to get the light she needs. she's looking very healthy 😍 happy growing. 😊 if you've no room for a grow tent a wardrobe or cupboard is great for a little grow. x

As funds are missing, could I use one of these led pars to light my 2 babies? I was initially going to put them outdoors but its getting colder and colder every day with little sun. I have 3 of these https://m.nl.aliexpress.com/item/32908521143.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitede

This is definitely not the kind of lights you want for your grow room. These are theatrical and stage lights. I have a bunch of these too...but save 'em for performing not for growing.

Yay, I ordered a growlight + tent + accessories! I'm planning to install all of this in my basement. I have a small window that I could use to send the filtered exhaust air to. but will it suffice to just get intake air from the basement itself? Or would I need an air purifier?

Congrats! Super exciting! No purifier needed! I do the exact thing! Basement grown, exhaust outside, and intake is just basemen air. I supplement with co2 mushroom bags and that’s it! ✌️🏻💚🌿💨

My grow kit will arrive this week. is there anything I need to watch out for considering the fact that they only have stood by the window (mostly cloudy weather) for most of their lives? I don't want them to get overloaded with the rays of my growlight 😇

Shes already a large plant but them stretchy internodes could indicate a low yield. Windows are the worst place for a cannabis plant windows protect hoomans inside by filtering the intesity of uv light coming through now we dont see uv light but plants do so filtering out that light is only slowing her down. We as growers all work with what we have but if you have a grow light I would stick her underneath it leaving a 30-50cm gap and turn the intensity of the grow light down to about 75% straight away try and improve the spacing between them internodes and getting more branches for a bigger harvest :) Though for a first grow this is great my friend :)

Hey Katalist - like UK said below, but they also look a bit over watered (leafs pointing down and being a big fat and shiny) which may be assisting your symptoms of what appears to be a cal def - try to establish a 2 day wet/dry cycle on the pot (if you havent already) and add a bit o calmag when you do water.

So I have 2 different strains ( green gelato and northern light automatic) the plants are not growing at the same pace and I only have one grow light. Is it okay if I hang the light like on the photo? Would appreciate any feedback! Thank you!

How are my babies looking? Watering now every 24h (0,5l) and I raised the pots so they no longer stand in the runoff (doh!). The calmag also arrived today so hopefully that will help my Green Gelato with the yellowing 🙌

Hi buddy, they do look overwatered. I noticed overwatering can lead to issues with nuteient uptake, it could be the reason for yellowing leaves, since you said you pour in 0.5l every 24h. I would recommend good watering every 2-3 days if possible. It will stimulate the roots to grow deeper as moisture decreases and make your plant stronger, also removing root breathing issues.

More and more yellowing taking place. Im worried! Buds seem to grow well tho. Im adding cal mag at the moment and ma watering less frequently. Anything else I might be doing wrong?

I would suggest going back and giving her a half strength dose of "grow" nutrients every second feed for a couple of weeks, this should restore some health, she is suffering with a nitrogen deficiency and this can not be cured with cal/mag. This yellowing problem/nitrogen deficiency is common amongst people who switch to straight bloom nutrients too early, cannabis still needs adequate nitrogen during the first few weeks of flower development. Hope this helps, Organoman.

At three weeks I’d be surprised that you even see any milky tricomes. You’re only at week three my friend. Unless you have some godly genetics that finishes in three weeks. Which I doubt. No you still have about 4-5 weeks to go before that’s even ripe. Just based on your diary timeline it’s not ready. No you’re also not ready to flush yet. Keep growing it out. It’s looking good. 🤙

Are my ladies ready for harvest? (looking for potent THC crops)

Organomananswered grow question 3 years ago
If you want maximum THC, harvest when the plant has about 95% brown pistils and disregard trying to identify trichome colour. I have been doing just this for 25+ years and am confident you won't be disappointed. Once there are more than 95% brown pistils, the plant is on the verge of dying, meaning her metabolism slows considerably, meaning much THC will be breaking down into CBD and CBN, two cannabinoids that don't get you high, but do make you very relaxed/sedated. Not all plants get amber trichomes anyway, so the "pistil colour method" is far more reliable in my experience. Start a two week nutrient free period (flush) when the plant gets to about 90% brown pistils. Hope this helps, Organoman.
