Day 4: Just started my first micro-grow 4 days ago with a 40x40x120 grow tent, 30W veg+flowering, soil. I know it is a sketchy setup, but I have little to no space in my apartment, and limited budget. So, after germination in wet paper(6 days ago, ready in 2), on saturday I've planted it and she came out of the soil the next day. It is growing fast and healty, I'll post some pics once back home. Do you guys think it will be useful doing topping on this, or I'd better avoid it and using only a "light" LST? Day 5: Yesterday evening my little girl was experiencing curling leaves, checked the RH and was at about 87% - 90%, temperature 25C. Because I've not overwatered her, I supposed the problem was the high RH, so opened a little more my ventilation hole and gone with a fan and this morning RH was about 62%, temp 23.5C. Let's see this evening if it is going well or not. btw, she is growing fast, at day 5 the second node is starting its growth with a new pair of leaves!

simple question: unsure to do both topping and LST, or just LST to avoid slower growth and smaller plant. online is a controverse topic.

I prefer to both top and mild lst with autos. Timing is key to topping as it must be done early and often up until she starts to flower then I just lst the branch’s apart in order to make sure each gets plenty of light

You can top and LST without having much an affect as long as your growing environment is set up to optimum conditions. LST doesn’t slow plant growth. If your plant is already healthy before topping you have a better rate at quicker recovery too so bare that in mind. I wouldn’t top until at least week 3. Hope this helps

Hi there! Well it's all about the strain resistance to stress and you're skills to help them recover! I'd recommend topping at the 3st or 4th node, then do gentle LST manipulations to ensure the side stems are getting enough light and don't cannibalize the main cola. Hope this helps, I'll be around, keep us up-to-date and happy growing!

Day 8: plant is growing strong and fast! Day 9: 3rd couple of leaves starting to grow. Spotted some small white points on one leave. Day 10: small white points on one leave are still there, but I am quite sure it's a humidity problem; checked the type of mold found on the leave and the internet gave me a reasonable answer! Btw the plant is strong and fast, this morning the 3rd couple of leaves give me the goodmorning! Day 13: yesterday started LST, as soon as 3rd leaf set grew. It is strong and very fast! already out also the 4th leaf set.

Controverse is an understatement. It’s outright confusing. Personally, I’ve done pretty much everything to my autos in the past - topping, FIMing, LST, HST, etc... I’ve done both topping and LST with the same plant before and had good results. It’s fine to do both in my opinion. However there is a certain level of stress that comes along with any training techniques, which does seem to extend the time to harvest a little. If you are trying to harvest as quickly as possible I’d recommend no training at all. Also, I’ve become a bigger fan of FIM pinching over topping recently. It causes less stress on the plant while still producing more bud sites and encouraging the plant to grow outwards. Let me know if you have any other questions. And have fun!

It is better to do nothing with an autoflower. But if you want to do something i would do LST. Good luck

I agree with the dude. I enjoy FIMing over topping. I'm not impatient and don't care if it takes an extra week as long as the yield is there. This is your grow. Don't be afraid to try things even if others discourage it. It's your grow so experiment and learn. Most of all have fun!

@Sgtoso, thanks! I'm actually on my first grow so i am not scared to try, but I wanted to get some hints in order to avoid doing something that wastes my effort :) btw I think that I'll do the FIM+LST combo!
